This with JTM Brainstorm feels like it can be abused too easily. Put the cards I want on top and discard my junk. Blue players will likely have more cards in their hand than other players, but used correctly, it still benefits the blue player more. They use it on their opponent's EOT, cast their spells and use it again to get those cards back.
Great Flashback, Dredge and Reanimation enabler, assuming your opponent isn't running a similar strategy.
Still, with Inferno Titan already confirmed, I am left to wonder about the viability of an inefficient 2/2 without an ETB trigger in a heavyweight world...
Aside from jace's erasure, is every card with his name on it going to be powerful? This guy has bonkers potential, 3 mana or not.
I know, right? If this card was an enchantment instead of a creature, it would be crazy busted.
But as is, this card enables the (but is not restricted to) following:
1. as I mentioned, Runeflare Trap / U/R burn decks
2. dredge / reanimator
3. mill decks
4. Fauna Shaman/Vengevine decks
5. ?? There have to be a ton of other applications, but I'm at work and I must retire thinking about non-work things for now.
And as previously mentioned, this card can "hose" Caw-Blade in some instances, such as wiping away tutored equipment or birds. This card may not be the most powerful thing in M12, but it is certainly an exciting enabler. IMO it will definitely see some constructed play.
huh its a repeatable wheel of Fortune.... for blue? strange.
Windfall more like it, but this is awesome. I need 4 to go in my turbo mill MP deck. They are a little week because they are creatures but he effect is amazing.

I will have to disagree with you on the power level of Jace's Erasure. It may not have much punch by itself but play it with some Brainstorm's and Ancestral Vision's and you will see just how quickly that card can cripple your opponent.
Jace's Archivist shows huge synergy with the Erasure as well. If I have 5 cards in hand we each draw 5 cards and then they also have to mill 5 cards so they are down a net 10 cards.

Now all we need is a reprint of Teferi's puzzle box. This is a nice card though. I for one will be playing it. Seems balanced and niche enough not break any formats, and will definitely see play. May not make to any top tier decks, but it will make it into quite a few. U/R might play it with that phoenix from scars and Chandra's phoenix.

Hoping for a cure, or at least an outbreak.
1. People crying about a perceived color bleed where there is none. The Archivist's effect can be in both blue and red. Just like copyingspells.
2. People claiming a perfectly fine card is broken and that Wizards is insane printing it. It is a 2/2 for 3 mana and you have to wait a turn until you can activate its ability - which costs another mana. So the effect is not immediate, easy to disrupt and even then, it is not broken for the cost.
Not to mention blue isn't particularly known for playing a bunch of spells early game, so there's a fairly good chance you're gonna make you're opponent draw some cards.
it's got a converted mana cost of 3.
play it turn three.... equip lightning greaves. go to town.
alternatively, in standard.... play it turn three, use it turn four.
one turn slower, dies to removal... it's much more balanced.
i really really like the card. combined with a megrim effect it's nuts. maybe liliana's caress.
love it.
-1 interwebz for name. Why does Jace need an archivist?
- HI! You are that new archivist that works fine in multiplayer?
- No.

- Im Great in multiplayer.

Pretty much. This sees probably 0 constructed play ever.
