I kind of feel like these boots were the reason why Greaves were reprinted in every Commander deck...;]

I have divined your fate. You shall find your nemesis, a catastrophic clash. Devastation, misery for all, the unleashing of horrible curses and ferocious powers. Ruin, such ruin that I dream each night of blessed peace, assured that the universe is in balance once more...
It's from a "Learn to Play" flip book that are sent to WPN stores. I'll see if I can get pics on Monday, but I assure you that Day and Elf dude are indeed back in.
This creature lets you lock down with Venser. Interesting.
Not a complete lock, obviously, but it's a neat way to have Venser (and any other 'walkers you might have) charge up (almost) uninterrupted. I might try that out in my new Superfriends EDH. Could be awesome.
Constructed though? As always, too slow and vulnerable. :'(

It's actually four mana, which makes it way, way more interesting now.
The white thing looked amazing at first sight, everyone seems to have the right idea, this guy loves David Tennant/10th Doctor/Venser.
I love the new boots, being able to target your own guy is always better. Id totally run 2x of these in whatever mid-range Standard deck I choose to use this year.
But does anyone else find the name to be pretty awful? Swiftfoot Boots? It doesen't have the same effect as Lightning Greaves if you bellow out it's name and smash it on the table. I think i'll rename it Asskicker Boots because of the art.

What's so commanding about Lightning Greaves that you'd ever bellow out its name and slam it on the table as you play it? I think I speak for a lot of people when I say I've never done that.
I like the name Swiftfoot Boots. It carries that traditional, high-fantasy feel and sounds likes it straight out of D&D, which is typically a good thing.

:symtap:: Add to your mana pool.
from the photograph, it clearly says "one mana of any color"
just an FYI.
also, i'm going to be making a "sort of rock" deck using the white "skip your combat" creature, as well as a whole bunch of other EtB effect creatures.
it's going to be BOUSE.

It is bad, mostly because it is hard to say quickly. "Swiftfoot." Look at the consonants they haved crammed together, and the vowels are barely a break. Not that it couldn't be evocative, it just doesn't really fit onto your train of thought.
I agree that it sounds high fantasy. It's the kind of name that looks like a literal translation of something that sounded really great in Greek.

Well, "Lightning Greaves" sounds so much more stereotypically heavy metal sounding. So if he wants to bellow it out at the table and slam it down, let him. But I think this means that all of the other metalheads at his LGS should be allowed to take him out back and lecture him to stop giving their kind a bad name after the round ends.
I actually kinda like Swiftfoot Boots, but I think it's a little bit clumsy since "Switftfoot" is one word. Whose ass do we have to kiss to get a hyphen?
On DoJ being in M12: Well...yeah, I mean, that WAS the point of putting it in M11? Wasn't it? I mean, clarifying that it would in fact be the staple board wipe?
Eh, the difference between {0} and {1} equip is a lot bigger than people are giving it credit for, imo. With greaves, the creature actually gets haste proper, since you slam it on the same turn it normally does, then gets haste. With this, you have to wait for one more mana, which means you don't get an extra attack out of the deal. Surprise factor is still there, but that's less interesting to me than a clock that's one turn faster. Greaves is Fires of Yamivaya strapped to Aspect of Mongoose, this is more like half a Canopy Cover strapped to a repeatable Unnatural Speed. Not dismissing it entirely for constructed, but Greaves it is not.
Still very excited about it's EDH potential, where the mana matters less and the hexproof matters more.

I don't like Mythics much either, but realize that petitioning for their removal on a third-party forum is about as effective as eating soup with steak knife.

Doesn't everyone just call it Das Boots, to begin with?
Oh god... my friend who runs a Bant turbofog deck(it works surprisingly well) is going to love this card. Considering he already runs Mimic Vat to recur his Mnemonic Walls to get Fog back, this will just take out the middle man.

However I do feel like it will see standard play after the rotation because the format will not only be slower but will also lack a lot of mana fixing.
people always seem to forget that another two sets come out before/as Standard rotates (M12 and Innistrad). there is always talk about "the format will be this or that," yet nobody knows because it's impossible to take into account what those other two sets will bring to the table (well, core sets are a little bit more predictable). how do you know the format will be slower? how do you know it will lack a lot of mana-fixing? for all we know, Innistrad could be a set full of Sakura Tribe Elders and wicked 4-drops.
the new greaves is a lot worse than the old greaves because it hampers combo potential and requires you put in an extra mana to give things haste. hexproof over shroud is important for a few decks (decks with swords and voltron edh builds), but the difference is usually irrelevant.
this wont find a spot in my edh decks.

Indeed it is. Amazing the difference 1 can make eh? Now I'll definitely try him out.
