Strange choice. Not something I'll be chasing a playset over, but will get one for the collection.

Wizards should simply hire me to MS paint some better art for them.

Seriously fire nearly all of your art team and directors. You guys are seriously getting sloppy.

This might have been squee-worthy in Alara block but now.... not so much.

Can I have these in nonfoil please? No, well too bad, I really like this art over the original, but even casually I will never play it because of the foilness.

Either way, you have to agree the art is awful.

I actually like the perspective on it.

Getting this polished turd at a FNM would be almost as nice a surprise as buying a pack of beta and pulling one of the laces.

I gotta say i really dislike the new shooting star design. Seems so cheap now, it really devalues the card for me, might as well make it silver bordered for me..

Also the art is horrid, reminds me of the Quasali Pridemage and that one wasn't that bad compared to this guy.

Sad i was hopeing for better art hope they have a better one next time.

The term "assbutt" comes to mind if anyone knows the reference...

I'll still never get why they think non-std cards are good to print as FNM promos. If you want to raise attendance, give out a card that could be used in players' decks next week. There are plenty of key commons and uncommons that are used now that can be made into excellent promos, usually removal.

Also, please ditch the terrible shooting star and lettering on the art. The cards are supposed to look better, not worse.

Probably for balance between everybody. They tend to pick things that are good in: standard, EDH, extended, legacy (late fail for war monk, probably because they picked it at the height of its popularity or something), and multiplayer. Sometimes they just picked something random, but should be decent anyway. I think the reason why they're a bit more conservative for standard is because they do have to pick cards ahead of time, so it's quite hard to pick the right standard cards without much info from the environment. By the time they do and picked the cards, the time for those cards might have passed as well (but they were pretty much on the ball for Bloodbraid and Hawk).

So yeah, even if they keep rotating like this, standard only players like you would see something for you maybe once or twice a year.

OH, I'm not a std-only player. I view FNM promos, given out at events that are std or draft of a std set, as supporting that most of all.

Trust me, I like good promos for other formats. But, at the rate that Wizards is now churning out promos, I feel that std alone could be served by FNM. Everyone else can be helped by all the other promo and foil product wizards makes.

Sad face. was hoping for something I could use in EDH, but alas. Well, maybe my friend can use them in his exalted deck.

cool card. the art isn't terrible and at least they kept the flapjacks. i must agree though that the new lettering they put in the corner of the art for these new promos is just turrible. it takes alot away from the card aesthetically.

@Xanth: They notoriously print cards that are about to rotate or in other formats. Look at Spellstutter Sprite.

Because that would make TOO much sense to do that! I've been saying that we should just get a IoK promo for like 4 months! Although since I play caw-blade I will appreciate the birds
