I don't hate zombies, but I do like Skeletons and wish they were a bit more flexible in mechanics so we could have more of them. Having them all have to regenerate or have some other way of returning from the dead is very flavorful but limits the number of them that can get printed.
Surprised by the lack of green bloodthirst. I was expecting 4 or 5 at least.
Personally, I am getting tired of vampires (anywhere), and hope for a creature type change soon, for all colors.
return to kamigawa block. would be nice. get to play with snakes, kitsune, goblin, moonfolk, and nezumi tribal decks rather than elves, knights/solders, goblins, merfolk, and sparklers.
basically it would be nice to have a change of pace for tribes especially where lorwyn is about to leave extended with all its brokenness and tribal BS.
On that note I REALLY hate VAMPIRES. do they make sense as blacks creature of choice? yeah.
are they cooler than zombies? eh, 50/50.
did wizards change to vampires as blacks weenie creature have a stunning collation with the popularity of twilight? YOU BET YOUR ASS IT DID!
that will forever taint vampires as a tribe for me. too many times did i have to play against terrible mono-black vampire decks because one of the guys brought his twilight obsessed Girlfriend to FNM because she thought vampires were cool and wanted to follow her Boyfriend around all night.
Zombies are just as old and tired as Vampires who at least feel a little fresh in Magic.
Screw Zombies and Vampires, lets have Mummies and maybe a Werewolf or two.
Edit: Wereshark also works.
I, for one, second this. Mummies, *Werewolves* (a classic fantasy staple, sorely missing from MtG), Homonculi, Witches/Warlocks, Assassins, Thieves, Banshees, Satyrs... there's a wealth of tribes that could use more love in black. Sick of vampires! But the current popular trend has vampires rated highly (True Blood, Twilight *shudder*, et. al.), and as long as this continues, MtG will have them. Zombies were *hugely* popular in pop culture for a while (diminished some lately), and when they were, MtG had them in droves. It just makes sense to tailor to what the majority of your players (and more importantly, potential new players) desire.

"Here only miracles. Here, only the rising of spirit. And yes, love if it was pertinent (which it was so often); and sometimes bloodletting. But never the prosaic, never the trivial. Here the man who brought the strangest tale was the most welcome. Here every excess was celebrated if it brought visions, and every vision analyzed for the hints it held to the nature of the Everlasting." - Clive Barker's Imajica
Wereshark... so sexy. Maybe something green, with bloodthirst and a "if this creature came into play with +1+1 counters it may only attack or block if you control an island. If at anytime you do not control an island tap to remove all counters from wereshark. It does not untap on your next untap step." 1/1 bloodthirst 6 for 4G
On topic... vampire card seems good. I want more minotaurs as well.
Geth and Glissa are some serious mega bad arse Zombies, they have had plenty of support. I would like to see more Skeletons as well. Why the heck is there no "pay 2 life: Regenerate " Vampire??? Sea creatures like sharks don't make a ton of sense for combat interactions. The tribe I am most sick of is stupid Goblins, I want more Minotaurs and Lizard folk!

Obvious top-down design is obvious:
Glom Skeleton2BB
Creature - Skeleton
Glom Skeleton's power and toughness are equal to the number of creature cards in all graveyards. 3BB: Return Glom Skeleton from your graveyard to the battlefield. Play this ability only anytime you could cast a sorcery.
*/*
Depending on the rarity, it might be worth it to make it return to the battlefield tapped.
As for the wereshark:
Wereshark1G
Creature - Human Shaman Fish
Bloodthirst 2
Islandwalk
2/2
Card designs go in the Custom Card Creation forum. Infraction.
While bloodthirst in black does make a lot of sense in today's game, it also made perfect sense in Ravnica. RG was Gruul, the feral/barbarian guild of the plane. Bloodthirsty savages like our friends Scab-Clan Mauler and Skarrgan Pit-Skulk fit the theme perfectly.
yea thats fair. I suppose its a mechanic that can really make sense in a lot of colors depending on the design and flavor of a card, but I think that making the move to black was definitely the right call as it just makes so much sense and looks really nice on vampire/bloodsucker/generally dark cards. Point well taken though, I just meant that bloodthirst on a vampire makes more sense to me than on mono-red phoenix. bloodthirsty phoenix?
Your right though, for the setting it definitely made sense to call the gruul clan bloodthirsty

The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since beginning-less time, darkness thrives in the void but always yields to purifying light.
I invision a future where one is not mighty when he can silence a crowd with brutality,

im sick and tired of that stupid nighthawk (at least that one wonยดt be printed again... hopefully)
unfortunately, it seems that bloodthirst will continue even into m13 9_9
All iยดm asking for, is for a "Venser, shaper savant" ish creature with flash or something. I would be sooo happy. (or teferi, but that would be too much to ask for)
... I hear nothing about bloodthirst in M13, just M12.
Edit: In fact, just before minute 28, he specifically says he has no info at all about M13.
hmm.
I think he says "core sets from here on out" or "core sets to come" doesnยดt he? Well, in any case, i donยดt like the mechanic anyways unless blue gets some of it, and therefor wish to se it vindicated as soon as possible (gonna be some time though haha)

No, it won't. Bloodthirst is around for just this one set, just like Scry was only in M11.
Maybe.
If a mechanic is popular enough they may make it evergreen. Part of the reason for putting these mechanics in Core (aside from the obvious set identity reason) may be an audition for evergreenness.
Possibly, but until we get actual confirmation of such a thing there's no reason to seriously believe anything than what's already been explicitly said about returning mechanics in Core Sets: one set, one old mechanic, changes each year.

M11 had two new cards with what we now know as the hexproof mechanic. The only other card in the history of the game in a core set with that mechanic was Troll Ascetic in 10th.
Coincidence? I think it's more plausible that they put them there (especially the one at common) to test suitability for evergreenness.
Or because they wanted Sacred Wolf to be able to be used with the Auras in Rise of the Eldrazi, and because they wanted Leyline of Sanctity to be really good and splashy (and better than Ivory Mask).

No scry mechanic is confirmed in M12? Bleh... I wonder if we'll have ponder back if that's the case.
