in a format with good cheep equipment that 1/1 might see some play, put a sword on it for lols or a lashwrite for a minimum of a 5/5 unblockable...or both
I think the much more relevant use will be enabling bloodthirst in limited.

Personally I am pleased with the idea of more creatures with +1/+1 counters on them; proliferation-planeswalker decks might actually have the creature back they need to be playable.

Saki, Tsumo After Kon needed to be banned sadly. But I wish we could have kept Saki Miyanaga past the rotation.
I really like that Bloodthirst goes into vampires... such a perfect fit, even fits better than Gruul. I mean the vamps get stronger when you opponent was just "bitten".
Id rather have douse in gloom than Vicious Hunger, as it is instant and splashable, but I guess they want a card that pushes mono black. Assuming this is in M12. Actually it wouldn't matter anyways.
I for one do and do not want a reprint. I want a reprint because it goes really nicely into a vampire or any black deck. I do not because it means everyone else will be playing it as well....
My only hope is that the titans don't get reprinted and that elves don't get gimped with a lack of Elvish Archdruid...
What's next? Californian hippie elves in green, dumb goblins in red, smart-ass wizards in blue and self-righteous soldiers in white? Please, spare the children!
On second thought, that was Overlord 2. Except OL2 was a purposeful parody of commercial fantasy. And you got to collect three concubines...
Seriously though, this whole resonance business is turning into an excuse to do silly, cookie-cutter fantasy. If you want to exemplify black's ideology, give us Dark Confidant, Reassembling Skeleton and Innocent Blood over the flavor-of-the-month pop-culture reference of (can't help but think of Twilight and giggle) evil...

I don't think we'll see a reprint of Nighthawk so quickly. I think the "4 mana, 2/2 Vampire, Lifelink, Bloodthirst 2" is the closest we'll get. That or Sengir Vampire.
I don't think "bloodthirsty vampires" is exactly a flavor-of-the-month fad. Vampires, and their thirst for blood, have been around as part of fantasy, horror, and folklore for a long, long, long, long time.
"Resonance" is good because it makes the game more accessible to someone who might want to try playing. Making use of what is familiar to the average consumer makes it much easier for them to learn the basics. This creature is an Elf, it does what one would expect an Elf to do. This spell is a bolt of lightning, it does what one would expect a bolt of lightning to do. And so on.
Expert-level expansions go off the rails of "typical" fantasy to varying degrees. Heck, we just spent most of a year on a plane populated by magical robots and people with metallic body parts, at war with armies of techno-zombies. Not exactly the most classically resonant setting. The Core Set isn't that, though. As an entrance point for new players, there is a marked advantage to making sure that the cards there are something that are easily understood and recognized. Learning the rules and strategies of the game is engaging enough without making someone have to try and wrap their head around unfamiliar settings and themes. Once they've mastered that, and want to delve deeper, there is plenty of novel and fascinating flavor outside of the Core Set.
Doubtful. The other two cards are rare cards, with splashy abilities tied to their planeswalker.
Don't forget that Sorin and Gideon are "behind" in the flavour cards... I'm thinking that Chandra, Jace and Garruk all get their M11 name cards back plus a rare - this leaves Gideon and Sorin due a common and uncommon as well as the rare.
high five for vicious hunger if its really in! rest are cool too i spose. black bloodthirst wakes way more sense to me than GR. just saying

The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since beginning-less time, darkness thrives in the void but always yields to purifying light.
I invision a future where one is not mighty when he can silence a crowd with brutality,
but when he leaves them speechless with wisdom.
Bloodthirsty vampires aren't exactly new, having been around since the very beginning of horror litterature, and having roots in ancient Eastern European folklore. WotC pushing vampires again doesn't surprise me, but it doesn't seem to have anything to do with current pop culture, since the whole Twilight-thing peaked a year and a half ago.
Interesting that green also gets bloodthirst, though. I hope it's a wereshark (although it won't be).
_~;6794184']I hope that there will be something to support Vampire tribal, considering that Sorin is the planeswalker in M12. In any case, from the look of Innistrad... it wouldn't really be much of a surprise if the plane is populated by vampires.
Vampires have gotten pleanty of support (more than any non-goblin red tribe has ever gotten... sorry dwarves). 3 unique lords, a couple cards that get better with vampires in play and solid universal playable vampires like bloodghast and vampire hexmage. I'm not saying vampires aren't neat, but I'd like to see some other tribes get some love too... pixies, dwarves, orges, humans, clerics, dare i say... allies that are just solid creatures without EtB effects.

While bloodthirst in black does make a lot of sense in today's game, it also made perfect sense in Ravnica. RG was Gruul, the feral/barbarian guild of the plane. Bloodthirsty savages like our friends Scab-Clan Mauler and Skarrgan Pit-Skulk fit the theme perfectly.

We've only got one image and a tag line to go on. For all we know the portrait could just have been 'taken' on a gloomy day and the world could be populated by Pegasus's, squid-folk, and bear people who sing songs about friendship and ride rainbow rafts of chocolate.
"Horrow Lurks Within". Not very rainbow rafts of chocolate. (Unless they are talking about tooth decay)
Interesting that green also gets bloodthirst, though. I hope it's a wereshark (although it won't be).
Bloodthirst was specifically a red and green mechanic back in Ravnica, it's new that black creatures are getting it. By the way, shark's live in the ocean... how could they be green?
*Sigh* Vampires again, where's the zombie love? Can't we get back to everyone's favorite cuddly classic black tribe? My standard decks just don't feel the same without their incessant cries for brains from deep within the bowels of my deck boxes.

Tribal zombies don't make sense anymore. They are a shambling mass of undead that wants to eat everyone and pretty much destroy the world.
Vampires are a better fit because they can be intelligent, powerful, conniving, good, or evil. Zombies don't actually do anything except rot and eat.

Beauty of mine, sit before me. Let me peruse you and remember you... always like this.

You meant to say "Zombies don't actually do anything except rot and eat in packs." Hence why a zombie lord makes sense. Haven't you ever played Left for Dead? The zombie "lords" in that game definitely make the packs of grunt zombies better. And it works really well for that game; I don't see why it shouldn't for this one.
And I'm really hoping for just one Bloodthirst blue creature. Sure it'd be weird in blue, but it'd be a flavor home run on a large serpent/shark type creature.
*Sigh* Vampires again, where's the zombie love? Can't we get back to everyone's favorite cuddly classic black tribe? My standard decks just don't feel the same without their incessant cries for brains from deep within the bowels of my deck boxes.
Zombies are just as old and tired as Vampires who at least feel a little fresh in Magic.
Screw Zombies and Vampires, lets have Mummies and maybe a Werewolf or two.
Edit: Wereshark also works.
