Look at that guy's arm, it's not the standard Mirran metal parts, the whole arm is metal! The guy right behind him also has his whole arm replaced by metal. Considering that this is a Mirran card, I have to assume that the Mirrans are going for some pretty serious physical augmentations.
I wouldn't even need a war, I'd just do that anyway.
Guys, can we just not with the "My guess:" and "Maybe it's:" posts? Thanks.
Seriously. I just had to delete another ten posts, and it's 3 in the morning. I don't want to wake up to a couple dozen baseless speculation posts in the Rumor Mill that I'll have to infract and delete. So just don't, guys.
well mikey went and deleted my entirely spot on speculatory post, but at the risk of getting an infraction, i wont repeat it. Although i know i'm right, Oh well.
Either way, the art's fantastic and i know it'll be an awesome sword. If it's anything like the one i posted i'm going to get all smug because i can (and for those who didn't get the option to see my post, you'll just have to deal. I know it's pushing it, but meh. Too bad speculation doesn't work anymore, even if i had reasons to back it up. (and full card that were printed and would fit the design.)

Love this art. I appreciate that they had the same artist do all 3 Swords in this block. It gives a sense of consistency in the design. It makes me second the earlier desire for a Fire and Ice and Light and Shadow in this style. Of course, I also want full wallpaper resolution versions of Body and Mind and Feast and Famine. Sigh...
I really like the art, too bad the red side still depicts flaming fires, but the white side depicts burning white light not bright light like the one on Sword of Light and Shadow. The background is like it is in the middle of a war zone, full of Mirrans and Phyrexians. At first I thought the Sword would be Phyrexian aligned since the color protection is against Mirran, but seeing it at Mirran would also make sense since all 5 swords are still Mirran.
#1 - What's the dumbest idea you ever had?
#2 - 15/15 for 15?
#1 - Make it dumber
#2 - Give it protection from removal and counter?
#1 - DUMBER!
#2 - Add Timewalk?
#1 - DAMN IT MAN, I SAID DUMB!! DUMB !!!
#2 - It destroys everything when it attacks.... And wait, I have a friend who plays mill decks... I want to beat him too.
#1 - Excellent! Recess is over, go back and learn sex-ed with the other 6th graders.
gee, the phyrexians are making weapons of mass destruction and the mirrans made a really cool sword, who will win the war??
to be fair... mirrans did have lux cannon
also, am i the only one who wanted the last sword to be either straight up held in 2 arms so you could see a 6 armed fiend holding all 5 swords if you lined the cards up right?
I've been doing some research and all the sword effects are toned down pw ablitys.
Fire/ice jace chandra
Light shadow ajani liliana
Feast fammine lily garruk
Body mind jace garruk
War peace
My guess giddeons assassinate and chandras graveyard cast
But mabey the white ablity will be on a new white walker in action

Great find, but I see 4 swords using the original 'walkers. That means that, according to statistics, this swords should also have a combination of Chandra+Ajani.
Also, note that when the first two Swords were printed, there were no planeswalkers around.
I find it slightly odd that the sword would be of "war and peace" because the new set is supposed to be either all mirran or all phyrexian, wizards just loves doing confusing and annoying things....either way I do like the sword and I think that the sword will be +2+2 pro red/white with some possible lifegain/lifeloss or wrath affects....
Hmm. Text suggests it's Mirran, and the arm looks like Etherium (it doesn't look corrupted enough to be Phyrexian).
This is exactly what I noticed when I looked at the picture. Body and Mind was clearly Mirran, F&F held by Phrexians, this one looks like it's being held by the Vedalkan/Wizards/Artifact creatures.

They said no such thing. SOM was 80:20 Mirran:Phyrexian, MBS was 50:50, and ACT will be 20:80 Mirran:Phyrexian.
I dunno if its been said before but the arm reminds me of etherium enhancements.... I dunno what tez is up too but I dont think these are artifact creatures cause the guy behind the arm also has a etherium looking arm too...
before someone points this out I am not saying filigree, because i think filigree was somthing the esper people did to be artful with there enhancments. this looks like war time.
imba. when this comes out, we'll now have full protection from the four primary colors of aggression:
black/green with SoFF,
red/white with SoWP
i mean, who needs protection from blue anyway?
hint: if Jace hates you...

Is the name "Sword of War and Peace" confirmed? I was thinking that if Action is Mirrodin Pure, that the white might be "Purity"... and reading some older flavour text (on a Serra card?), I thought maybe "Purity and Fury" or "Purity and Flame", or something along those lines. In order to be consistent with the rest of the "cycle", it certainly won't have "Fire" or "Light" in the name.

Also, note that when the first two Swords were printed, there were no planeswalkers around.
Also also note, all the newer swords have context clues in their name.
Sword of Body and Mind (body= a 2/2 wolf "body"/mind= losing part of your "mind" or library)
Sword of Feast and Famine (feast= a bounty of mana/famine= starved of resources or hand)
Sword of War and Peace
We can deduct abilities from there.
Red has Fire/War
White has Peace/Light
Blue has Mind/Ice
Black has Famine/Shadow
Green has Body/Feast
What are each colors strengths?
Red has damage and what?
White has lifegain and what?
Blue has draw and mill.
Black has discard and graveyard shenanigans.
Green has creatures and ramp.
Answer the "what?" and you have a new sword.
Personally I'm thinking non-basic land destruction or a crush effect for red (maybe even a variant of acidic soil) and either pacifism for a turn or blink for white.
you can generally tell the easiest road to victory by how many players congregate on it; and the road of counterspells/control has been the freeway of choice in magic for quite some time.

What I find offensive is not that Wizards is endeavoring to make the game more accessible, but the attitudes of elitists who act as though no one of any age should show their face in the Magic public without first having mastery over the complexities of the game.
Have any of you noticed that the swords are actually too short to technically be called swords they are more like long daggers than anything else, just thought i'd point it out
I like this idea of Mirrians augmenting themselves with technology to fight the Phyrexians...ironically becoming more like the original phyrexians
That said, the cycle is complete. Any of you think it is possible for WotC to release all the swords in the same block?

Damn near nothing else?
OK, OK, they can also destroy nonbasic lands.
I suggest you Google Gladius.
That's kinda where my train of thought led me.
Wheel of Fortune doesn't make sense for war.
Crush and Goblin Ruinblaster kinda would.
Can't think of any other iconic red effect that would be useful post-combat.
