"So," the Vulshok warrior rumbled, "you're responsible for this blade."
"Desperate times call for desperate measures," the Auriok edgewright replied quietly. "Our people are known for their smithing skills."
The Vulshok examined the sword carefully. "Perhaps. But we Vulshok know a thing or two about weapons as well." He smiled. "I want to suggest some... alterations..."
I totally expected it to be Phyrexian-aligned because of Sword of Feast and Famine hosing the "infect" colors. The story tells me why it's otherwise (and it's a definite home run!)
Also, it looks like there's a Steel Overseer-esque creature (by same artist) in the background!
The only color combination that was missing was red and white.
And here it is? What do you guys think it does?
Im also partially worried about how much it'll be worth....considering how all the other swords have been spiraling out of control price wise lately...
I think the white part will do this: opponent(s) cant play spells this turn/next turn OR cant attack you next turn.
the red part: either destroy target artifact/land OR all creatures you control get +2/+0 and haste on your next turn.
Very nice. Personally, I'm not very surprised by the name.
It looks like a Phyrexian is holding the sword. The arm holding it looks like the right arm of the Phyrexian standing behind it. Or at least it looks like a Phyrexian. It looks too mechanical and hooded and stuff to be Mirran. I guess it also makes sense a Phyrexian would be holding a sword that gives protection from white and red considering many of the Mirrans from this block are white and red.
As for the actual things the sword does, I guess it's pretty much anyone's guess at this point. Personally, I wouldn't doubt some Lightning Helix-esque ability.

Well the best things I could think of for RW abilities is a miniwheel (each player discards their hand and draws that many cards) for red. But there is pretty nice symmetry in "you may destroy target artifact and target enchantment"
For the white part, my guess is it will pacify a creature for a turn, or tap a creature down like Ajani Vengeant's ability. Destroying a non-basic seems fitting, though very powerful.

Nice art. Sword of Feast and Famine still has my favorite art. Kinda wish we can get some altered art Sword of Fire and Ice and Sword of Light and Shadow to match the cycle of art.

My god that art is GORGEOUS. The thing I love the most about these Scars Block swords, is that the color of the blades has the opposing color's sun in the background, making an amazing contrast (Except for SoBaM). This is definitely the coolest Scars sword art so far.
I especially love how the invasion escalates with each progressing sword image.
I honestly can't wait to add this sword to my collection
EDIT: What are those flying things in the background? Angels?
funny, I always found the art for all the swords to be pretty terrible, this one being no exception. It looks very unfinshed, the colors bleed together, very poor edging.

i actually find that to be more of an aesthetic goal than a time based one. rather than considering it unfinished, it seems that the art adapts a more painterly quality about it, not quite the hyper-realism that accentuates chase artwork.

There's not real story significance for any of them. They're just powerful artifacts, not ancient relics or whatever.

As for what it does, hard telling. Maybe nonbasic land destruction and prevent X damage during the opponent's next turn.

The "name" and "name" just connect to the color pair. The effects don't have to make perfect sense with them.
