Something tells me that neither the Phyrexians nor the Mirrans are going anywhere any time soon.
I think that the Phyrexians are going to achieve dominance (in terms of numbers and power), but they will turn their attention inward due to internal struggles between the five Phyrexian factions, which diverts attention away from the Mirrans. So in the end, the Mirrans will survive because the Phyrexians are too busy to care about them. This leaves room for more plot development should they wish to revisit Mirrodin in a future block.
They won't be strictly allied per say, as they all will be competing for top spot. But they will form alliances of convenience and they will be with their allied colors as they will share some aims. I think the best way to think of them woul be like the Forsaken from the Wheel of Time series. Everyone is in it for themselves and will back stab each other at the first opportunity unless they are being tightly controlled by a higher power at the time. Any real co-operation will be forced out of them by the Father of the Machines.
Aww man....Urabrask the Hidden just looks awesome. Not to mentioned I'm getting a huge Neon Genesis Evangelion(BEST ANIME EVER! In my opinion at least.) vibe from his art.
Also, the fact the art shows a Phyrexian angle gots my hopes up for more white infectors.(Please make it happen Wizards! I want to make a White Infect deck! Not just with artifacts either!)
EDIT: Might just change up my banner when more cards are release.

I definitely agree about your comment about the the Chancellor. A white angel with infect would definitely be badass.
Also, good to know I wasn't the only one getting an Evangelion vibe from Urabrask.
EDIT: As for Geosurge: 3R
Add RRRRRRR to your mana pool.
Totally calling it.
Anyway, I'm definitely going to like the possibility of making an EDH deck with a Praetor as the general.

Yep. They've set the story up for a scenario where Phyrexia can win but some small set of the Mirrans can cling tenaciously to life, either in a small enclave somewhere in New Phyrexia or in exile, which is another reason NP makes more sense than MP as an ending to this block.
ah. Ok. Guess I can't hotlink an image, but I can attach one? That doesn't seem right to me, so I'll just give everyone the info to find the image and avoid another warning.
There is a full image of ulabrask on CGHub from an artist usernamed Cryptcrawler.
Also, it's aspect ratio is that of a standard card, so looks very likely to be a legend, not some eldrazi type layout.

I think Urabrask looks more like a dragon that has been very heavily modified, although some of the modifications may be myr-related.
thats EXACTLY what I was thinking.
I mean, the praetors have to come from somewhere right? Of course they could have possibly been made in some other fashion, but it makes sense that they were all once mirrans, and were then modified in some way
EDIT: I'm speaking about the dragon comparison specifically. I see the similarities to a myr but im not too sure on that one
Really? The only similarity I can see is that it uses the same palette & rough composition as the End of Eva poster... o_O
Well, I can't speak for The Slime Lord, but when I look at Urabrask, I think of an EVA-Unit(A generic one, not really any particular one, like Unit-1 or 0.) in Beserk Mode, ready to pounce on some happless angel. Or in Urabrask's case, ready to pounce on some foolish Mirran.

Yeah, that's pretty much more or less what I was thinking as well. I actually wasn't thinking of that poster at all. It probably has to do with me strongly considering re-watching the series.

Urabrask is just ozing with awsome and by the look of things really looks like there going for a legendary cycle, and i just love the idea as the preators have just so much flavor to them already.
Still waiting on someone to direct link. The site won't run in Safari and I don't want to update IE out of principle.
EDIT: Got it. I hate when great ideas are poorly executed. Kudos on the Mirran vs. Phyrexian commercials on Youtube. Complete lack of kudos on the landscapes only loading every other time, incorrect pictures (Mox Opal seen on The Blight Dragon wallpaper click spot) and finally for the awful interface. The mouse movement it takes to navigate each page from one side to the other is really irritating.
I appreciate the idea on top of all the other things I appreciate about Wizards, but it drives me insane to see the best in the business sloppy. It's the same feeling I get when NBA players miss free throws.
Ok so since I see the full art link to Urabrask yeah it looks like him now. I didn't see the "collar" until the full art on Deviantart was shown. Really really sick. I don't know what he'd do but Haste seems about right and some random burn damage when coming into play with Infect.
Well, I guess this almost confirms that the Praetors are going to be a cycle in Action. I really cannot see these guys as anything but a mythic cycle, and I doubt half the mythics would be phyrexian in Mirrodin Pure, so I personally believe that this gives more proof for New Phyrexia.
Well, I think Urabrask the Hidden is going to be some hasty artifact hate bomb. His art is not what I expected from a Praetor, but it is still awesome.
Like what everyone else thinks, I believe Geosurge is going to be some ritual. Maybe some metalcraft...maybe not. The art looks pretty cool.
Chancellor of the Annex is...creepy. A white infect angel screams bomby mythic, as long as white gets some infect support in Action.

Could be a rare cycle. They don't really like printing mythic legendary cycles.
There are plenty of mythic cycles, and plenty of mythic legends. Shards had a legendary mythic cycle. I think that as long as the cycle covers all colors, there wouldn't really be a problem, the only thing I see going against it is that it's a smaller set.

If any of the Praetors are artifact-hate, it would be Vorinclex. Creeping Corrosion is his domain. For Vorinclex I can see an effect which suits both red in Scars and "industry" well... perhaps something like a Krark-Clan Ironworks effect, or even a Kuldotha Rebirth-like creature engine. As for Chancellor of the Annex, it sounds like one of the two sides has been annexed, like Poland, and with a chancellor like that I can't imagine Mirrans doing the annexation.
Geosurge looks awesome. Hopefully it's a good mana effect (or something better than a ritual altogether), unlike the most recent one from the core set... honestly that card was so bad and disappointing that I can't think of its name right now. I'd really like a mild mana boost with a cantrip, so that Pyromancer Ascension can be a deck again. But even if Geosurge isn't a competitive card, the art is worthy of being featured on a binder cover or deck box.
That is a stupid reason to not buy cards. I hope everyone in your playgroup pulls insane cards and destroys you with them. Just because you don't like them doesn't mean you shouldn't get the best cards. Plus due to symmetry it was known from the start that there would be more Phyrexia regardless of the winner. I for one am looking forward to more Phyrexia because they've won my heart, I was totally for Mirrans at first but their cards are just... meh. IMO of course.
I agree VB it doesnt appear that similar to the shadow.
Well, I might buy one just to have all the symbols, but I neglected to say that to make a point. I don't have a playgroup, I just buy them for the novelty, and because the MBS and Conflux prereleases coincide with my birthday. Please don't call my reasoning stupid. I went Phyrexian at the release because I needed Glissa, because I've been reading Mirrodin novels since grade school, and it sickened me how grotesque the Phyrexians were. It seems that all the old Mirrodin characters (Glissa, Karn, Geth) have Phyrexian watermarks, despite being more Mirran at heart than any other Mirran cards.
Just as a final sentiment, I hope they resolve the Phyrexian (and possibly Eldrazi) conflicts with a victory for the heroes in a later block, and that hopefully one day there will be a Mirrodin Pure.
