Okay, so are all these arts & characters mentioned in this thread actual cards confirmed to be in Action? No? Didn't think so. So it's not definitive proof of anything at this point other than that Wizards is really putting a lot into the Creative aspect of the storyline of this block.
On the other hand, it does seem rather strange that they'd be investing so much Creative capital into details of the workings of Phyrexia without the intention of turning any of it into cards at some point. Especially when they aren't doing anything of the sort on the Mirran side.

Wizards had already used the Mirrodin site to preview cards from the next set in this block (some time before MBS we started having MBS cards art and names appearing in the site) so those cards (Chancellor, Spellsurge and Urabrask) are almost certainly cards from Action.
yeah that red one isn't Urabrask. He isn't a dog and the art doesn't fit the silhouette. I'm aware the main site says its Urabrask but it deffinate;y doesn't look anything like the silhouette.
I will not purchase any set that is more Phyrexia than Mirrodin, and since the next set can't be good for the Mirran people, I refuse to buy any packs from New Phyrexia.
That is a stupid reason to not buy cards. I hope everyone in your playgroup pulls insane cards and destroys you with them. Just because you dont like them doesn't mean you shouldn't get the best cards. Plus due to symmetry it was known from the start that there would be more phyrexia regardless of the winner. I for one am looking forward to more phyrexia because they've won my heart, i was totally for mirrans at first but their cards are just... meh. IMO of course.
I agree VB it doesnt appear that similar to the shadow.

Aw, don't be too hard on the guy. If it was the other way around and we had a mostly phyrexian set so far and the third set was mostly mirran I don't think I'd buy much of it. I haven't bought all that much of Scars and Besieged for similar reasons. There's really not much of a difference between boycotting the last set of this block and my sudden interest in buying a box or two when I haven't so far.

Let's see...there are plenty of cards that came into our knowledge by their art being previewed at the Mirrodin flash page. Consecrated Sphinx, Goblin Wardriver, Contested War Zone, etc. In fact, any NAMED art was always from a card. So whatever you think, these named arts ARE from cards in the last block.
On the other hand, it does seem rather strange that they'd be investing so much Creative capital into details of the workings of Phyrexia without the intention of turning any of it into cards at some point. Especially when they aren't doing anything of the sort on the Mirran side.
I do not get the point of this paragraph. Both sides are quite detailed, but Mirrans were, quite logically, a focal point of Scars. It is quite logical that now they are showing the Phyrexians ... with the praetors' text in the Fat Pack brochure, it was quite probable that we will see them as cards.
It is another hint at New Phyrexia. But no more proof than before.

Are people seriously looking at phyrexian artwork from the next set and saying to themselves "Yep, I could see an angelic abomination in a set called Mirrodin Pure. That makes sense. Nightmarish fallen angels. PURE."

Maybe the Mirrans are really lazy.
"Mirrodin is finally Pure!"
"What about that fallen angel abomination over there?"
"Eeh, it's just that one...Mirrodin Pure Enough."

The silhouettes were taken from a style guide illustration, not card art. So sayeth the bey Jeremy Jarvis right here on these very forums.
I have no idea what dogs have to do with anything.
Edit: I was bored and even made a comparison with the silhouette.
He also mentions that he did 6 arts for Magic, this being the first released, so it may be safe to assume he did the entire Praetor cycle, which would be fine with me, cause this art is amazing.

He didn't necessarily do the whole cycle, but I wouldn't mind seeing a lot more of his work. Looking through his gallery, I especially like how he does metallic textures. A good fit for Mirrodin.
I agree with Jurrit that Elesh Norn is by far my favorite just by describtion! If all preators get cards [fingers crossed] this will be the set i spend the most money on. Thats a lot considering ive spent $80+ on Mbs [where are you Glissa, the traitor?] also ill make EDH decks for all five! YAY PHYREXIANS!!
JAMMIT DIM! I'm a DOCTOR not a DECKBUILDER!

Koth is in the middle of it, and koth has a similar effect on the planeswalker itself. I'm calling that it is something like this:
Geosurge 1R
Sorcery {U}
Add R to your mana pool for each Mountain you control.
"Koth Quote"
I really like the other wallpapers, though. Legendary Phyrexians aren't too easy to come by.
Take a mechanic from the pre-mirrodin era, and a mechanic after the mirrodin era, and create a card that flavorfully melds both mechanics.
