Is there any possiblity that these online decks are the same as the paper event decks. I mean let's look at it
1. Same colors for both.
2. 7 rares each.
3. Full playsets for some common and uncommons.
4. The red deck has some battlecry cards.
5. The U/B deck has infect.
6. Both decks contain the creatures pictured on the event deck fronts. Plague myr and signel pest.
All of these have been mentioned for the paper event decks.
Of course the only thing that might change may be the goblin guides. Maybe 2 chieftains instead.
I didn't think there was any question. Both the online and paper versions of the product will have the same cards, of course. There's absolutely no sense in changing anything between the two.
And let rampant speculation on these 'war marks' begin! I would really like to know what on earth they mean by "determine which side will be victorious".

Again... the set HAS TO be already desided, because it's at the printers as we speak. There is no way that this gimmick is anything but "surface" to make things more interesting and to play up the war.
Interesting to see this Event Deck being so similar to Zac Hill's gunslinger deck from this weekend. Check it out on the main site...
The Mirran deck is substantially better than the Phyrexian deck, in terms of playability and overall worth. I mean, TWO Goblin Guides?? Aren't they like $7 each on their own? It seems ridiculously fast in comparison to the infect deck.

I think they are about even.
MTGS seems to be the only place that thinks Kuldotha Red is amazing.

In Germany we call it irony/sarcasm.
Don't you know that kind of humor in US?
More like "these message boards are full of people who have no clue how the gaming industry works and every day we still get a handful of people who actually think WOTC is waiting to print the next set until some kind of tournament will deside the results."
The war marks are most likely just the way to pick your faction for the pre-release online. There will probably be two entry options (hey wow they added this fancy new multiple entry fee system just recently, how CONVENIENT!) one will use phyrexian war marks and one will use mirran.
This is what the ORCs on the beta have alluded to anyways.

As long as we're rampantly speculating, MTGO doesn't have printers :-P. A "dual set" with a highly limited run of cards from the losing faction only available for sale online via these warmarks isn't nearly as far fetched as it is on paper.

The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since beginning-less time, darkness thrives in the void but always yields to purifying light.
I invision a future where one is not mighty when he can silence a crowd with brutality,
but when he leaves them speechless with wisdom.
Man wait so we have to participate in magic online to determine who wins? that seems odd. Promos on MTGO are getting sweeter by the day, sadly they have been neglecting their paper costumers. Come one wiz where is that replacement for player rewards!

You make a compelling argument. There's established precedent to support Wizards designing cards for casual play that are illegal in most formats. And the online format circumvents most of the drawbacks of printing special cards.
In this case it would be rather unlikely, because there's no mirror prize for the winning faction. Both sides need equivalent prizes or nobody will support one faction. But that's a far cry from the multitude of reasons only one of the two sets are being released on paper.
I just want to know what these promos will be used for. As of now, Bitterblossom is a $20 card, and Clique is a $15. I'll take that over shiny smothers any day
i know ill definatly be springing for that U/B its nice all on its own but use just a little bit of twiking at home could just push it over the edge (FNM wise not turnament)
Confirmed: the war tokens are just how you pick which faction you are during the prerelease events. They have beta events up now with two entry options: "30 event tickets + 1 mirran war token" or "30 event tickets + 1 phyrexian war token"
The only question now is how the player will obtain the marks in the first place.

I'm guessing Bitterblosson will be the next MOCS championship card (Season IV) and Clique will be a Level 7 or higher Player Reward.
