Well, nobody has started this one yet, and discussion seems to be clogging up the results threads, so I figured I'd start it.
This thread is for discussion - if you see something in it that inspires you to check something in the orb, and you get a positive result... post the result in the appropriate results thread first! Then come here and and explain what you think it means.
Yes, Tezzeret is in the set. CaptainBlack has confirmed that he costs 2UB. He doesn't show up in either orb because he's unaligned.
And, for redundancy, here's Guinea Pig's orb FAQ once more:
Orb FAQ:
What does the Orb of Insight count?
The Orb of Insight counts all occurences of a single word in the name(s), mana cost(s), typeline(s), rule text(s), reminder text(s), artist name, and power/toughness of all cards in a given set. It counts mana costs such as 3W and power/toughness combinations such as 2/1 as single words.
The Orb of Insight does not count words found in the flavor texts of cards unless it is somehow broken. That has only been the case once so far.
What is this special code thing?
You must type in the special code you see at the bottom of the Orb to verify that you are an actual human being rather than an automatized process designed to check every word. If you don't see a special code, then something is wrong with the Orb. Check back later.
Does capitalization matter?
No. It matters neither in the search word nor in the special code.
If I get a result of 6 for Dragon, or 15 for Sliver, does that mean there are 6 Dragon/15 Sliver cards in the set?
In all likelihood, no. The orb counts occurences, not cards. A card named "Fiery Dragon" with type "Creature - Dragon" and rules text "Flying; R: Fiery Dragon gets +1/+0 until end of turn" would contribute 3 occurences of the word Dragon. Likewise, Sliver cards usually use the word Sliver at least three times per card (Name, Type, Ability).
I don't get results for searches like "Counter target spell". Why?
The orb does not search phrases, only single words.
I'm getting 1 result for Mountainwalk, but 0 results for walk. Why?
The Orb only counts whole words, not partial words. Likewise, plurals and singulars are different words. If you get 10 results for Goblin and 1 result for Goblins, the former does not include the latter.
There don't seem to be any results for can't, creature's, etc...
The Orb usually has a problem with the apostrophe normally found on keyboards. Copy this->’<-apostrophe and use it in your words. That should do it.
There don't seem to be any results for non-creature, non-land, etc...
For colors, types, and supertypes, you omit the hyphen from the word (noncreature, nonland). You only use the hyphen for subtypes (non-Goblin, non-Lair).
There don't seem to be any results for certain mana costs, such as B3 or GR...
The mana costs follow a strict pattern. The generic cost is always listed first, and X is listed before numbers. For colored mana, the pattern is:
2 colors
WU - UB - BR - RG - GW
UR - WB - BG - RW - GU
How can I search for words that include non-english letters such as ä, ö, ü, or Æ?
Unfortunately, you can't with the current version of the Orb.
How can I find certain symbols such as hybrid mana?
Hybrid mana is C/D, where C is the first color of mana, and D is the second, such as W/U.
Snow mana is S. The untap symbol is Q.
Loyalty symbols for Planeswalker abilities are +N or -N, where N is any number or X.
I'm getting a strange result...
It's likely from an artist name.
... Boros
Zoltan Boros, artist.
... D as single word
D. Alexander Gregory, artist.
... E or M as single words
E. M. Gist, Scott M Fischer, and Thomas M. Baxa, artists.
... Mark as single word
Several artists (Mark Brill, Mark Tedin, Mark Zug). Occasionally a card name.
... rk or post as single word
rk post, artist.
S or Waters as single words
Anthony S Waters, artist. Unless there are many instances of S, then it might be the Snow mana symbol.
... Rush as single word
Christopher Rush, artist. Occasionally a card name.
... Seagrave as single word
Dan Seagrave, artist.
... Walker as single word
Kev Walker, artist. Rarely, there might be a card with Walker in its name.
There seem to be a lot of occurences of certain words...
They're probably normal, and you might be missing another word that usually goes with those words, such as "remove" for "game," or "turn" for "end." On the other hand, you might just have found the name of or a hint to a mechanic!
Also, in a large set, there is a full complement of 20 basic lands, four for each color. Each basic land version provides two instances of the land's name, for a total of 8.
I posted this in the other thread, but this might get more attention here, as everyone is speculating about the new sword. I had an interesting result in my search for potential sword names:
Famine - 1
Feast - 1
Sword of Feast and Famine? That seems like it could be correct...and sounds very much BG instead of RW like I would have expected.
Also, can't be Feast or Famine as Zombie turns up 0 in the Phyrexian Orb (for Mirran results).

A BG sword? When red is not represented on a sword and both B and G are already? I dunno...

The problem is that "sword" has 0 hits for Phyrexians and 1 hit for Mirran - your hypothetical BG Sword of Famine and Feast would have to be Mirran, which is highly unlikely.

You don't think a piece of Equipment granting Protection from Black and Green would be Mirran?
EDIT: I admit it would be kind of awkward alongside Mirran Crusader
A BG sword? When red is not represented on a sword and both B and G are already? I dunno...
Every color has been represented on a sword precisely once, except for blue, which has appeared twice. There's a symmetry here between red-white and black-green; any attempt to divine which will occur first based purely on color considerations (as opposed to, say, faction considerations) must fail.
That piece of equipment would have a green ability and a black ability, the two colors where the Phyrexian faction is more prominent than the Mirran faction.
I completely forgot to start this. Maybe I was thinking that I was on vacation for Mirrodin Besieged. >_>
To be honest, I really hate that they split the Orb this time just because they could. Leaving out the unaligned cards really seems fruitless, even though I suspect they did it so as to provide a slight aura of mystery for any (and how many) Planeswalker cards, which are likely the only unaligned ones. (The land hits, for instance, I think will be the typical search/sac/interact effects, not nonbasics.)
(R/W)Sword of War and Peace? It could possibly be a sword that references itself in the text somewhere. (For reference, Sword of Fire and Ice does reference itself, the other 2 do not). Perhaps the red part would be a source of damage.
Edit: Proven untrue due to peace strider preview, which self references.

Why is it even a question what faction the swords will be under? this is wishful thinking to think the phyrexians care about protection or would bother with evergreen effects on swords...
Its much easier to explain how mirran crusader got his hands on a b/g sword than phyrexia getting it. the mirran alliance running across the relic (which was already on Mirrodin to begin with) and using it against Phyrexia makes so much sense thematically that there's almost no reason to not print the sword mirran other than wanting to satisfy very few dreamers.

~Intelligence is Bliss; Ignorance is Denial.
Skill is an ability that relates more so to the type of deck that's built and how said player pilots it. It also relates to the ability to assess the board and use the cards available to you in the most optimal way relative to each situation.
When a deck is filled with above par cards and every play is solid, there comes a diminishing need to "think" for the lack of wanting to use a better word.

And I think there is also a card named "Contested War Zone".
Hey guys, is everyone viewing the correct orbs? I was searching up a few numbers after looking at the results so far, and it looks like nobody searched the written numbers "seven" through "ten" for the phryexian orb, which I found important, since I want poison tech. Anyway, the art makes them easy to get confused, which I did more than once. Check the bottom text!

??? The Phyrexian thread already has that result. What are you on about?
EDIT: What I mean is, we all have been using the correct orb.
Sword of War and Peace - 3 Artifact - Equipment
Equipped creature gets +2/+2 and has protection from white and from red.

Nive find! Hoping to get a legend which reduces the poison count for a player to lose to 7?!

There will be only one planeswalker - WotC said it quite clearly on the MBS product page that "A new Planeswalker card is included".
I think what Kouzmanoff is pointing out is that the Phyrexian orb has a Mirran-looking art on it and viceversa and you should check the bottom of the page to see on which of the faction's orb you are at.
