Could we please stop with this Bikini Armor thing?????
PLEASE?!?!
Now, normally I love fanservice (I was right there with you guys when you appluaded the vampire girl with the long fingers), but the thing were a girl is wearing armor that only covers her tits and/or vulva always rubbed me the wrong way. It always brings up such a logistical nightmare. Are her guts indestructable? Do people only ever try to stab her in the boobs and/or ******? (If they do, that's very sexist of them). Does she really perfer to go naked in battle but really needs that extra support? What possilble practical purpoise is armor that only protects the body parts you don't normally show in public? It just takes me right out of the fantasy becuase it makes me so ANGRY!
You're playing a game where suspension of disbelief involves you accepting the notion that anthropomorphic cat creatures and cyborgs can shatter continents and abduct people, places, animals, and things they've run into across multiple layers of interwoven reality using memories of national parks they visited when they were children and the art-piece that you demand realism from is a woman's too-sexy battle-plate?

I'm sure you're down with elves that cause life loss, flaming hair underwater and vampires that sparkle... Everyone has limits to their suspension of disbelief.

A full art of the promo Glissa is available on Steve Argyle's page, including a 1600x1200 wallpaper. It looks quite nice enlarged.
Still, the standard version is just awesomely menacing and wicked. Steve's art looks almost peaceful in comparison.
An interesting thing is the Sword of Kaldra-like blade merged to her left arm. It's more a visual nod to the character's history than anything else - the Kaldrafacts were all annihilated.

Yeah, I'm Triscuitable from Giant in the Playground. I made my avatar too. I make avatars in the style of the Order of the Stick. If you want one, you can request one. Expect a wait, I do them on GitP as well.
Can anyone confirm whether the promos will be given by faction or will Bladehold promo be given on 01/29/11 and Glissa on 01/30/11? The only reason why I ask is that Glissa has 01/30/11 printed on it and I can't see what date Bladehold has on it.
Thank you in advance. Depending on the answer, our group may have to attend 2 days of pre-release to get the promos we need!

It says on the site that glissa will be given to phyrexians while Bladehold will be given to mirrians. It says the date on her pretty clearly on the card.

Thank you! Sorry I missed it completely, I don't visit the wizards site too often and rely on Sally for all my Mtg information! Thank you again!
As for the date, since our LGS is having the pre-release on 01/29/11 and 01/30/11, I assumed the date for one of the promos would be 01/29/11. I've only attended a few pre-release so please forgive my ignorance. :embarrass::embarrass::embarrass:

Nath of the Gilt-Leaf is a better G/B general. Your opponents discard cards at random messing up their game plans while you are gaining an elf every turn. I think that type of card advantage can't ever be beaten by any other G/B legend that exists now or R&D could ever develop in the future, considering their recent trend, even if they took their heads out of their asses and accurately analyzed the G/B strategy to create a Legendary creature that optimizes the game play for such a deck. But they are too busy trying to figure out how broken and expensive they can make U/W in Standard while giving Black strong but over priced creatures and spell and giving Green unnecessary crap that they should have had a block or two in the past. The only color that is cheap in both casting cost and monetarily is red, which is just straight burn and fast creatures, the only thing that has a slight possibility against U/W. At this point even if they reprinted Consume Strength, Pernicious Deed, Putrefy, and Maelstrom Pulse with Llanowar Wastes, Bayous, and Overgrown Tombs I still doubt that they would grasp the concept of a B/G deck. On a side note, WTF is up with the G/W and B/U infect based Pre-Con decks. This means, of course, that there will be no further opportunity or hope of enemy colored dual lands or spells, thus crippling the B/G cohesion in Standard.
I'm pretty sure there are stickies in the format forums for complaining about them... What does this have to do with Gliss aor the Assembly?
As for the cards, I like Glissa as an aggressive creature but not as an archetype or general. Thopter assembly is...well I just don't know. Possibly combolicious with Time Sieve or as a one-of in Steel Artifact.

Do we actually have confirmation of either of them being infect based? (It wouldn't surprise me if one was, but I don't think they'd do two infect intro packs in the same block when Phyrexia also has creature-sacrifice and -1/-1 counters without poison under its rules umbrella.)
Also, the lack of a specifically Phyrexian enemy-colour intro pack wouldn't mean that there wouldn't be any enemy-coloured effects; there were no U/W, B/R or W/G precons for Scars, but they still printed Seachrome Coast, Blackcleave Cliffs and Razorverge Thicket.
Then have him eat Nicol Bolas and the Magic universe can be awesome again. He takes over the Infinite Consortium and turns it into a trans-multiverse Izzet League. His agents scour the multiverse in Venser's planeships looking for magic to learn, technology to improve upon, and less intelligent people to condescend to.

Sigh. I hate this argument sooooo much. If I am asked to accept one fantasy element, it does not therefore follow that I have to accept any other unrealistic plot convince that the author throws at me. It's this kind of reasoning that gives us deus ex machina powers and technobable.
If they are asking us to get involved in this fictional war (and they very much are) than they should try to limit unrealistic sillyness. The cat-people are established in lore. The cyborgs are established in lore. The reality sculpting power is established in lore (not very well, but it is.) Bikini armor is pointless sexyness.
I don't want realism, I want rationalism. People behaving like people in fantastic circumstances.

Does it make any difference that Auriok males go into battle bare-chested? That's just their culture. Similar for Vulshok. And those are the offending races, yeah?

It was the argument that bothered me; "It's just fantasy! Don't think about anything."

And in the posts before that it was simply that women were going into battle in little to no armor.
