Well, I guess this means the remaining 3 protection swords will be a supercycle across the block. (Aside- I'm gonna call the next two right now as Sword of Growth and Decay and Sword of Heart and Soul.) I'm disappointed we won't be getting all 3 new swords right away, but I guess it makes sense to spread them out to diversify the mythics in each set.
We can rule out straight reprints for the cycle (no Affinity, no "Spire"), but it looks like we may be getting a new cycle of golems. Time to figure out what the associated blue word is.
I did a search for "archangel" and it came up with 1. Someone posted that "angel" gets 4 hits.
Since we know that one of the intro decks will have an angel as the premium card (you can see the artwork and the word "Angel" in its name) I think we can assume that there are probably 2 angels in SoM, neither referring to themselves in their text.
Edit:
also, we have 9 Darksteel and 5 indestructible... 4 Darksteel cards that autoreference? Woah!
Darksteel cards refer to themselves in the first line of text, usually like this:
*cardname*
*cardname* is Indestructible
I don't see any darksteel artifacts without that format, but I could be wrong. Darksteel Axe already follows this format in the spoiler.
That would leave 4 darksteel cards, one with an extra autoreference besides the first, and another non-darksteel card that involves indestructibility in some way. Or some permutation of the above, but this is the most likely based on the number crunch so far. That's just my guess. Darksteel Masticore could be damn exciting though, and would account for 3 of the "Masticore" wordcounts, leaving 2 abilities/effects. My mind is boggling!
Dunno if already stated, but we have 22 Infect and 21 poison, so one of the Infect card doesn't have the reminder text
P.S.
That also confirm that we're not gonna have non-infect cards that use poison
Edit:
also, we have 9 Darksteel and 5 indestructible... 4 Darksteel cards that autoreference? Woah!
Isn't the keyword ability for creatures that deal poison counters called Poisonous?
Poisonous returns 0, so it confirms that we aren't having creatures with just the poison ability. Plus we knew it wasn't going to be a keyword ability already.
Also, Liege of the Tangle is the only card with Awakening counters. Koth shoulda gave awakening counters lol
Leonin Shikari seems like a possible reprint. If that's the case, we still have 12 instances of the word "equip" that need to be applied. To determine what this means, let's take a look at how many cards use the word "Equip" that aren't Equipment:
That's it. A whopping two. Ever. One was in Darksteel, and the other was in Mirrodin. Even if we assume that Wizards has printed another card that somehow makes use of this word (hard to do, since most cards that interact with equipment will use the word "attach" as opposed to "equip"), then we're still looking at at least eleven more equipment cards (so long as they don't add on reminder text for the equipment?).
That's a lot of equipment. It's possible that an equipment or two may say something like, "You may equip ~ whenever you could cast an instant," or something along those lines, but they have never put that on an equipment card itself yet, and I don't think it's likely that they will, so I'm going to have to vote for 11 more equipment cards, for a total of 13 Equipment in the set.
For reference, even though 13 may sound like a lot, the original Mirrodin (set, not block) contained 20 Equipment. 13-14 is modest in comparison.
Where did Wizards say they will actually do this TO EVERY CARD with this kind of effect.
Well, i don't recall if they explicitly said that but the trend over the last couple of sets is having this kind of effects as a may to avoid situations where it's hard to recover the game state.
There have been some incidents lately on major tournaments like PT Austin TOP 8:
After the match, the players realised that both of them had missed the trigger on his Angel of Despair, which is not a “may” ability. So Papatsarouchas could have destroyed a Meddling Mage to free up one of his spells, or a Noble Hierarch to prevent the Baneslayer hitting play. Either of these would have given him the game, and the match.
Adding the 'may' clause to this kind of effects is good for the game overall and it really helps newcomers, specially in core sets, that's why it has been changed for a functional reprint.
If they want to have that effect on SOM block they would either create a whole new variant with the updated effect or use the latest core set one but by no means they would go a step back for a reprint of the old one they just got rid of.
This set is gonna be really cool. I wonder what the lands will be in this set as i the ravnica duals will not be reprinted in this set. It also looks like we will have vulshok battlegear too in this set(it checks out in the orb)
I hate that john avon only gets 2 hits i mean he is a great artist.
The orb shows results for "You have no maximum hand size", but no results for Spellbook, Reliquary Tower, Library of Leng or Graceful Adept
That doesn't mean there's a result for "You have no maximum hand size." What we know for sure is...
no - 1
maximum - 1
size - 1
Considering how few cards actually say, "You have no maximum hand size," I find it more likely that we have a combination of the following:
- A card that adjusts maximum hand size (probably by +/- a number, like Gnat Miser, though possibly based on # of artifacts in play)
- A card that gains abilities or is sacrificed depending on something not being there (if you control no artifacts, if ~ has no -1/-1 counters, etc.)
- Multiple cards that give creatures you control abilities (creatures you control have haste, etc.)
"Hand" shows up quite a few times, and "you" shows up 147 times, so we don't really have to look for special cases involving those words.
Edit: I'm almost certain that "no" will appear on Glimmerpost due to Glimmervoid's wording: "At the beginning of the end step, if you control no artifacts, sacrifice Glimmervoid."
Wouldn't be possible anyhow, as Darksteel Colossus references itself in the "Darksteel Colossus is indestructible" clause and the shuffle into your graveyard clause. You'd need at least three of each.
That said, there's some other kind of colossus (Phyrexian maybe?) and NINE INSTANCES OF DARKSTEEL which means plenty of awesome indestructible artifacts to go around. Goooood stuff.

Well, it could be darksteel masticore...
Geth doesnt have the reminder text I think.

Not only that, Geth doesn't even have infect.
More than one card will be lacking reminder text, though, because "poison" will occur in other contexts - see e.g. Ichor Rats.
Dross - 2
Tangle - 4
Oxidda - 4
Spire - 0
Golem - 17
Take away hits for cards that we already have on the spoiler (Liege of the Tangle, Platinum Emperion), and we're left with:
Razor - 2
Dross - 2
Tangle - 2
Oxidda - 4
Spire - 0
Golem - 16

Yes, He doesn't but he has Intimidate not infect...
And that reminds me that we have 3 nim and 3 other Intimidate instance (other than Geth)
So... 3 nim with Intimidate? Seems likely
Ooops forgot them So, more than one card will not have the reminder

Hopefully we will get another Legend?

Soul Warden won't get reprinted. She had just been replaced in the core set by the wizards new policy of adding 'may' to that kind of effects.
Yea it was Intimidate, i am on Vicaden. Im bound to make a mistake today. But you are on the ball with correcting people. Seems likea pleasure for ya

I don't even know right now.
Totally forgot this point. I don't know why but I was certain that the text was only "Indestructible"
That leaves one of them that autoreferences 2 times
