Gosh, that thing is broken in half. And then fourths. And then eighths. That thing is massive, and there is enough ramp to play it pretty fast. I'm going to go the the prerelease.
It is one of the best targets ever indeed. But those strategies are not standard viable. We've got Iona or Progenitus (with Polymorph or Summoning Trap) and those decks are just not that good. I don't think they will get any better with RoE. It is a possibility though.
And speaking of other formats, I think his last ability makes it impossible for Legacy's Reanimator, as there's no instant speed Reanimate, is there? I'm not that deep into Legacy, so I might be mistaken.

Glade I have my playset of Summoner's Trap already.
Even if you don't get to take your extra turn, its still a 15/15 with protection from almost everything. I wounder if there will be a colorless spell that can destroy creatures? I HOPE 15/15 is as big as they come.....
I get the feeling that the Eldrazi are just rejected cards from Unhinged. These things are just stupid and they all feel like they were designed by 8 year-olds. Oh well, I guess they weren't designed for me.
That's not really how I'm understanding it. It says nothing about upkeep in the level up mechanic.
I said "roughly", geez!
Like some other poster said, it's kind of like an installment plan. Pay 3R now, 1R later for a 6/6. What i'm not certain of is this: does the creature revert to 3/3 on the turn following a turn in which you leveled? Must you repay that cost every turn? Or is the effect permanent? I'm guessing its the latter.
I love it. People are already saying he's broken. I thought Eldrazi.dek needed but 1 Eldrazi card to be plausible, and this might be it. But hey, remember that I'm a Timmy
You'll most likely need an instant speed Clone..... they'll get an extra turn and make you sac. 6 before you can actually cast Clone

Edit: yes, maybe in Hypergenesis he will get a spot. Didn't thought about that one
Blech. Level up only as a Sorcery? What fun is that? Figure of Destiny (the precursor for this mechanic I'm sure) could do its stuff at EOT and in response to removal. Luckily, the release cards, when they showcase new mechancis, are rarely the best/most powerful example of what said mechanic can do.
Emrakul deserves a hearty LOL. I appreciate that it's the pre-release promo. I'd want a copy just on the cool factor alone. I really want to see the rest of the set cause I'm curious as to how realistically we'll be able to hardcast these guys as R&D so clearly want us to do.

Recent discussions here and elsewhere have made it clear that there seems to be a group of players who consider blue and control synonymous, as if they somehow started playing a game with four identical and "bad" colors that do nothing interesting because they just "turn men sideways" and then true, glorious blue, the only thinking person's color.

I kinda want to know why Wizard's has been pushing mill so hard and then chose to print cards that completely nerf the strategy.
Just when I thought they wanted mill to really be a real tier one deck, and they started printing cards to make that true, they decided to print a cycle of Gaea's Blessings with huge bodies attached.
I guess mill will just never be a real strategy (outside of turbo fog)
Well, I called it that they were going to use the extra turn effect for an Eldrazi! I just figured Ulamog would get it, based on the name.
Just going to fan my face a little more over how ridiculous "Emeria" is. Cripes.
Also, being the prerelease card (and the oversize), the art will be different for the actual booster-pack card, ne? I'm not a fan of "flying doom mushroom" art either. Just seems like a weird land to me.

Sorry, wasn't trying to sound rude or anything in my original post. It should be permanent since that counter will stay on the creature, he should never revert to a 3/3 unless an opponent removes those counters.
I need to hurry up and get my playset of Mindbreak traps and maybe Gather Specimens just in case Eldrazi actually are playable.
I may also need to up my Executioner's Capsule count to 4 in my Esper control deck.
Holy freaking A man, that's literally HUGE. Ah I guess this is the "Em" of legend eh? I still doubt we'll see angels worshipping it, but hey, who knows.
Definately going to the pre-release though.

What a wicked creature! Absolutely insane. These are like top-end evolution cards in Pokemon. It requires a large number of cards to spend to get a big huge threat/spell combo package.
Take an extra turn. That's silly! I will be attending the prerelease. Certainly.
And I like the layout of the level up mechanic. It looks neat, and easy to grok.

Shallow Grave is a good one.

Actually there is. Apprentice necromancer, Necromancy and Doomed necromancer from the top of my head.
The apprentice necromancer will be its best friend, on casual formats.

Doomed Necromancer
And you don't have to reanimate, there are other ways to cheat him into play as well.

If your answer is "Yes," then please, please reconsider.

You are correct, protection only functions on the battlefield.

And has flying!
We're just not ready for it to be broken in T2.
Seems like a pretty horrible way to bluff if it's at sorcery speed.

However, I was more wondering if there will be a creature CARD in the upcoming set that is a 20/20.
How is protection, annihilator, uncounterability, or psedo-GB blue?
