Torn between the art for both assassins; The style is completely different but both are done really well. Think I'm gonna have to obtain two copies of both :/

I am of two thoughts for Lord of Shatterskull Pass though. Can't it have been a 4/4 for 4, to be honest?
No, not really. Level up creatures should never be efficient at any size. That's the price for options. Figure of Destiny was inefficient as well.
Knight of Cliffhaven is 2/2 for 1W and 2/3 flying for 4W.
Enclave Cryptologist is 0/1 for U and 0/1 T: Draw a card, discard a card for 1UU.
Lighthouse Chronologist is 1/3 for 1U and 2/4 for 1UUUUU.
Gruul Draz Assassin is 1/1 for B and 2/2 B,T: Target creature gets-2/-2 for 2BBB.
Kargan Dragonlord is 2/2 for RR and 4/4 flying for RRRRRR.
Beastbreaker of Bala Ged is 2/2 for 1G and 4/4 for 3GG.
Joraga Treespeaker is 1/1 for G and 1/2 T: Add GG for 1GG.
Kazandu Tuskcaller is 1/1 for 1G and 1/1 T: 3/3 Elephant for 3GGG.
Lord of Shatterskull is 3/3 for 3R and 6/6 for 4RR.
Seriously, you should be happy. Lord of Shatterskull is the most efficient level up creature so far. Green hasn't even been awarded a 6/6 for 6 at common or uncommon yet.

Joraga Treespeaker is 1/1 for G and 1/2 T: Add GG for 1GG.
A few more levelers...

Totally agree with being mostly inefficient, but I'd say the Treespeaker is also pretty close efficient, but not for it's body.

Nah, sometimes I always hope that a card which catches my eye could be slightly better. I am glad that Level Up debuted as it is though. Instant speed would have been problematic, especially after rotation, I feel.

That's not efficient. An efficient version would be:
Greenweaver Druid 2.0 GG T: Add GG to your mana pool.
1/1
The 2G cost is just how you make the card easily castable for limited. Since limited usually plays multicolored decks with minimal fixing, most common/uncommon cards get costed with only 1 colored mana symbol so that people don't get mana screwed as easily.
Why don't the 5 colour symbols show up in the text box of the Gruul Draz Assassin? The other buy a box promo's(M10's Honour the Pure, Zendikar's Day of Judgement and Worldwake's Celestial Collonade) all have it. I guess it's just the quality of the image.
Again I just have to say that both of these cards are disappointments as promo foils especially since today's Kargan Dragonlord show's what a well made level up creature looks like(and these aren't it). The Lord is not that unexpected since the Launch party promo's are often not all that great. But the Assassin is the first bad box topper that they've done, ruining a string of 3 excellent box toppers.
I'd really like to believe that i'm wrong and the card is better than it looks at first but I truly doubt it.
That said the art for the Assassin is actually pretty cool and i've got a minotaur tribal deck(complete with Didgeridoo's) that could use the Lord.

well don't forget most of those will have "haste" for those cost.
Shatter skull is 3/3 for 4, but it will be swinging for 6/6 on turn five.
Joraga Treespeaker, is no temp lost on turn 2 (spend 2 mana to have 2 mana up) but 5 mana turn 3. Vs a normal Elf which is 3 mana turn 2 and 4 turn 3.
its an interesting mechanic and I'm liking how they are pricing stuff so far. Its pretty much Super-Multi kicker.

all we get is stuff like..."i like this art" and "i like the first one better".
wouldnt it make more sense to just merge the first post with the original thread and delete the rest?
i dunno...seems like it just kinda turns into a pissing match.
