which magazine is this in?? my japanese is rusty (but im in osaka right now so i want some of theese)
Like the thread says, Dengeki Maoh ( 電撃「ま)王 ) if you're trying to find it. But the magazine cover's really cluttered, so I added what to look for.
I fail to understand where this random promotion in Japan is trying to go...except maybe somehow expanding the book Purifying Flame to more readers. But understandable, both in comic form and in their own language.
Promo looks nice, Chandra mockup topped it...but no problems, we all like attaching Basilisk Collars to this guy right?
How's this photoshopery for a consolation prize? I'm tempted to put it in my Chandra sleeve (with the real card behind it, so none of that naysayer proxy griping!)
Sugoi!!! Just change the artist credit to Yoshino Himori, change the M10 expansion symbol to a unique one and we're good to go! Hmm and you gave me an idea! I'll be printing one like this! Woot!

edit: trying to get attachments working / done.
This month's issue of Maoh comes with a Haga Yui artbook, which is good enough on its own too.
Also, since this is one of the easier country-specific promos to get, it should be easy on collectors too.
[edit]
Manga Chandra was so cute she made my tooth rot while reading it.
[edit2]
Now that I think of it, loli demon girl artbook + scruffy-looking sparkmage is one of the weirdest freebie combinations ever, even for Japan.
@MrChupee
Ah thanks a bunch i actually passed by a magazine place after this and didnt see any magic magazines per say and obviously its not in one. This helps a great deal. Thanks a bunch!
Just picked up the 2 dengaki moah that the local kyoto book shops had.. 630 yen each... will give the manga as presents after taking the sparkmage. genius ;D

Free foil *and* a loli?! I really don't understand why sometimes, but can't say no to all that...=P
But this magazine also strikes me as an incredibly random place to promote M:tG, how did all relevant WotC parties end up going with this one? But eh...again; no problems.
The question is, where in the US can you order this magazine for cheap? Japanese amazon is like 45$ to ship 4 issues to me ... lol 4x cunning sparkmage isnt worth 75$ =/
"If I do go to heaven, I'll smack god across the face and tell him to get me a grilled-cheeses sandwhich and then say 'Yea what now god!? Say some'in! I dare you!' "
lol @ the manga. Totally destroys chandra's pride. Completely. But hey, I guess not everyone in marketing can have a brain eh? I love that no one cares about Sparkmage....at all....lol. Go manga chandra!
P.S. If you make more of these you gotta post them up!
I am going to print that out and use that manga Chandra right on top of my real Chandras under sleeves. It is obviously hilarious to beat someone down with a moe chandra.
For the sparkmage: is there really that big of a market for such promos? I'm assuming that the industry is much more competitive in Japan than here, so the promo could potentially attract new players...

April issue. But released in March.
Aren't all magazines like that though, or is it a Japan thing?

It is for most places.
For magazines like Game Informer or Nintendo Power, you get the April issue in March, etc.
