i don't think i'll go out of my way of pay any more for this one. Meh, the art looks a little cartoony but it is a nice spin off of the first one. Sweet.
Would be sweet to whip out though because ppl are always like 'Whoa! Sweet bla bla bla!'
Looks great to me. Nice reinterpretation of the character with art that's built around the foiling process. Looks awesome in the new face. Should be a great piece of trade bait or slot-in to the Pros' EDH decks.
Chalequin, I am of the opinion that you are way to positive about everything that happens. It's like you never have a problem with anything. Ever. I figure you have some sort of pact with yourself not to be just another whiner on the internet, but seriously, that's some dedication man.

Dear rk post:
Why is there noxious green in this art? Why is the contrast so high that it makes her spindly and unappealing? Why have you minimized her face so that I cannot see the beautiful lips that you paint?!!
Sincerely,
~Myz
PS: I am not a lip fetishist.
I hope that the introduction of more avatars lowers the price of the old ones, the ones I will be hunting down.

You must have missed me complaining about Alara block.
(Or, for that matter, my concern that the Treasures thing was going to artificially inflate the price of ZEN boxes, or the fact that I hate the stupid Reserve List.)
I am pretty consistently positive about random promo cards, though; as a limited player foremost whose constructed interest is primarily in slow-build fancy formats like EDH, cards like this are always appealing to me as an aspirational target, something to maybe hunt down some time for a deck that uses a single copy of that card. I have low expectations built up from playing in the game's early days before alt-art and alt-frame promos were even invented, so they're easy to meet.
I think the art is GREAT. The old one had a cooler composition to it, with the stance, background, etc., but this one is more dynamic. The colors are more eye catching. The whole thing is just easier to take in.
True, doesnt inspire the same sense of dread, but its a give and take.
As to the card, its fun, bombastic, and wins games if it can come out. Means its great for casual.
Yah I finally get Qed for a PT and I get this???? I have a feeling this is going to be a question alot of people are asking. Its really sad that just showing up for a GP and you get a awsome tournie caliber foil rare but if you are one of the select few that gets a PT invite you get a card you will never use outside of EDH.
Darn. A great card in a format that never rotates. What a shame...
I guess I should of said that I actually think its a cool card and I actually do play EDH but it just seems backwards that they give out casual cards at a event that is invite only where the best of the best play and they give out tournie staples at events that are open to everyone.
Meh, I don't even play it in EDH. It's good in that format, but tends to get you ganged up on for playing something that strong.
Horrid choice for pro-tour players though. Not exactly a spike type card considering what it's given away for. Should've picked something more tournament worthy like a vintage or Legacy treat.

Actually, the PT promo cards are available to everybody who shows up, rather than just the players (as opposed to GP promos, which are only given out to registered participants). That is, if there happens to be a PT in your area and you decide to stop by for side events or what have you, WotC will give you one of these for free. I think the pro points/money/players dinner are supposed to be the prize for the players at PT's.
Nice, Avatar of Woe? For those of us who were playing during Prophecy, this is a classic. Plus I like how the art is clearly a depiction of the same figure in the other art...I'm not a fan when promo art shows a different-looking figure (Demigod of Revenge for example).

On 7/14/10, broke 1900 mark! <3 ROE.
Give casual favorite cards to casual tournaments, and competitive favorite cards to competitive tournaments. This is obviously a card missaimed.
There are no casual tournaments because casual players don't go to tournaments. I think PT's got Avatar of Woe because there are only 4 of them and fewer people will be able to attend. People would have screamed bloody murder if PT had gotten Jitte. GP's are more often and very well attended so it makes sense that they have a better promo.
On the other hand, if Wizards had made, say, a promo Tombstalker (the tourney-viable reduced-cost fatty in black) for the pro tour, they would fetch ridiculous prices and everyone could complain about that.
It's amusing that most people complaining are unlikely to attend a pro tour, and thus only stand to benefit from the promotional card's lack of tournament playability (by which I mean you can has them).
Hey! Beggars cant be choosers!
Be happy about the card! It was a very cool card back then. I just hope they reprint more and more older cards for EDH players.
definitely a step up from treva from last year imo the arts fun i prefer the original i look forward to getting one

At least rk post did the art....but overall pro tour promo's aren't that exciting compared with GP promo's like chrome mox and jitte. The treva last year was inferior though to this promo; sure it let people have a cool general for EDH but it really isn't that great as a general anyways.
Art is meh compared to rk post's original avatar of woe.

I think it's nice. Nostalgia is there, art is great, still being used in some places... I think it makes a fine promo.
Its better than last years promo...
