even if you pass priority if your opponent bolts you respond by using one of her +1 abilities...last i checked bolt didn't have split second.
They're only playable as sorceries.
Besides, the problem with Bolt is that you can play around a Bolt with Garruk or Jace by hitting the +1 first. Nissa just facepalms at it no matter what you do.
That sounds about as awesome as Luminescent Rain, which is to say -- not very awesome. For 2GG I'd rather drop out a Skyshroud Poacher, pull out a few of the most relevant Elves, and do something useful. Nissa is pretty much the ultimate Timmy planeswalker. She does cool things incredibly slowly and badly.
luminescent rain doesn't eat a removal spell in addition to giving you life. And skyshroud poacher is not in extended.
EDIT-Oh man...there are over 1000 people viewing this thread atm.

I think people are underestimating Nissa. This is almost an Elspeth, she makes 2/3 tokens instead of 1/1s.
Don't know what to think of the others. I like that the demon's a former planeswalker. Plays like a 6/6 for 6, dropping this then a land in the same turn.

Why would you care about extended legality in the context of Nissa? Extended elves drops their entire deck into play on turn two or three. If you're playing Nissa in extended elves, you're doing it wrong.
Their is a reason guys that a PW has Loyalty counters. It is shown in three different aspects in Zendikar. A PW starting Loyalty and +loyalty ability represent how willing they are going to fight along side you.
Plane: Zendikar
Location: The Inn
Sorin: You and Sorin are hitting it off quite well. Telling stories and jokes. Some people in the Inn would swear you two were brothers or best friends.
Chandra: Chandra is already a friend of yours and you both decide to go to the inn, prehaps to hear some stories, get drunk or other things, but by the end of the night she is a lot closer to you then before.
Nissa: I won't lie she is a hard case. You actually got to work your butt off to impress her or at least get her to be more friendly towards you. You ask her to join you for some entertainment at the local inn, she says maybe but she eventually does come along and by the end of the night shes earned more respect for you then of what she thought of you before the trip to the inn.
These are all pretty mediocre imho. None of them are playable in constructed except the Demon, who is actually pretty good...
Nissa is a lousy planeswalker, and a tribal, limited one at that (or because of that, w/e). Specter is bad compared to guys like Nyxathid, and the others are not even worth mentioning (casual jank). Corrupt will be missed in this new format...
I don't see how Nissa being in lightning bolt range is a bad thing.
Scenario 1: you play Nissa, you make a free 2/3 elf, Nissa gets bolted.
You lose 1 card, opponent loses 1 lightning bolt, net gain a 2/3 elf = card advantage.
Next turn you play your second copy of Nissa, make another elf, and laugh at your opponent.
Scenario 2: You play some other random card, because you are such an amazing player you know that Nissa is worthless and terrible because it dies to lightning bolt. Opponent lighting bolts it dead, or doom blades it dead, or naturalizes it, or terminates it, or mind controls it, or uses any other of dozens of removal cards that work on non-planeswalker card. You don't get a free 2/3. You think you are amazing and superior because you didn't play the Timmy card Nissa. You end up losing.
Bloodbraid Elf is a very playable card. It's a 3/2, with haste, + another free card.
Think of Nissa as a backwards bloodbraid elf. It's only a 2/3, it doesn't have haste, but the "free card" that comes attached to it is much stronger than the average cascade target.
I think people are underestimating Nissa. This is almost an Elspeth, she makes 2/3 tokens instead of 1/1s.
turn.
saying that she is almost elspeth is saying that one with nothing is almost ancestral recall.
she can get you a MAX of four of those 2/3's while elspeth can keep on pumpin' 'em out. someone can easily, oh i don't know, thought hemorrhage for nissa's chosen and wow, a planeswalker with a first ability that does nothing. sweet. awesome. no.
Nissa really is just bad. She only applies in the right type of deck, and I'm not even sure Elves would run her. Garruk is a far better option.
The first ability is just dumb. Planeswalkers should apply universally, or at least to more than one specific card. A better version would have been: "+1: Search your library for an Elf permanent card with converted mana cost two or less and put it onto the battlefield. Then shuffle."
I have no qualms with the second ability, it is iconic of the Elf tribe and plays very well with the flavor. However, it is significantly weakened by the narrow first ability and will not be heavily used in the current standard format. We shall have to wait for the remainder of Zendikar to see whether she will be of any use at all.
The third ability, while game-breaking, is easily felled by a Day of Judgment, or, in most cases, a Volcanic Fallout. Wizards is falling into a trap because younger or stupider players will tutor up their deck, slam the cards into play, and ask "GG?".
Then the other player will untap, seeing as Elves do not have mass haste, cast Day of Judgment or Planar Cleansing, and laugh.
Wizards has short-changed the Magic community from a planeswalker power level standpoint by asserting them as quite possibly the more powerful cards in Standard since their release in Lorwyn, and then printing a set with three walkers either with 6CMC, which is far too high to be effective, or sub-par abilities.
I am in love with Black in this set. After Alara basically spat on Black, it's great to see so much love in this set!
Ob Nix+Spectre and Blood Offering are bonkers!
I'm a bit disappointed with Nissa, but at the same time I really want to make a red-green deck with her and Bloodbraid Elf. Imagine putting FOUR Bloodbraids into play at the same time+ a whole bunch of other elves. Then you cascade! Your deck is GONE! Hahahaha, should be hilarious to play.
Love Roil Elemental, that thing is going to be HI-LARIOUS to play with.

Having four free, recurrable 2/3's at a time is a really terrible thing, I hear.
I don't understand why everyone is yammering on about Lorwyn rotating out. Who cares! Since when do you ever play Standard in the fall and winter? T2 is outta here for the time being...This is extended season! Here I rule!
....i'm so very very sorry. I feel so lame right now.

Blood Offering baby. It is hot. Sanguine Bond + it is the kill Combo. And it is so easy to kick
Nissa's Chosen is pretty sickening. it's like a Bloodghast in green which is hilarious considering you can power out Nissa turn 3. sadly, Nissa herself isn't very incredible aside from that +1 fetch ability. I'll stick with Garruk, thanks.
Elemental Appeal is practically Ball Lightnings 5-8. I approve of it.
Take your monoblack deck, then set aside 14 swamps. Add 4 Creeping Tar Pits, 4 Darkslick Shores, 4 Drowned Catacombs, and 2 Jwar isle Refuge and add 4 Jace, the Mindsculptors. Your monoblack deck is instantly better. Better yet, drop those refuges, throw in some islands and some mana leaks, and lo and behold, you're now playing a real deck. Congratulations. Welcome to the world of competitive M:TG.

If you've gotten 4 2/3's, you should probably be gaining life after that. I hear 8 free life a turn is pretty good. And if my opponent used Thought Hemhorrage on a vanilla 2/3, I'd be ecstatic.

If you have the problem of getting above four tokens with Elspeth without them or Elspeth dying YOU ARE WINNING.
Aww Nissa doesn't have popping out art? I'm a sad panda... Now we have 2 of em not popping out--Liliana in GvL Duel Deck... But aside that, standard elf tribal is still going to be good post rotation.
Also, on second thought, I do like Nissa. The first ability is really cool, since even if you're limited to 4 Elvish Warriors, flavor-wise, the numbers are potentially endless. Unless someone Hemorrhages your 2/3s for 2 (yippie!) or Paths them (WOOHOO!!!) then you've basically got an endless army of 2/3s for free as long as Nissa is alive. I like it. Oh, and if you've got all four on the board, plus buddies, then you're gaining 20+ life a turn.

Last I checked planeswalker abilities could only be used at sorcery speed.
Standard:
UBR Grixis Control
WUB Time Sieve
WUB Esper Artifacts
