I hope I'm not alone in thinking that Nissa's design is far too flavorful? I mean, usually I'm a stoic defender for putting flavor above all else, but I just feel like she's super dumb this way, though I do think that she shows that they're trying to make lifegain a bit more viable... well, her and sorin amongst other cards... that life gain should be sick btw, but otherwise, I'm just super disappointed...
as for the demon, I really want to know his story... I feel like he has to be the leader of the eldrazi, as his fallen status and flavor text would seem to indicate that he's a fallen 'walker who has vowed to destroy zendikar? I dunno, I suppose the spec forum will be aflame with guesses as to his backstory

Only 2 starting Loyality for NIssa? And what odd abilities. A planeswalker that tutors up a specific card, which in turn combos with said Planeswalker? o_o
I don't like Nissa, the two loyalty is what gets to me ,I don't like how fragile she is, she can protect herself, but she can still be bolted and the whatnot

Wow a specific card tutor. Might as well seeing as how Nissa, like the other new walkers, might never be reprinted.
Nissa seems pretty solid, just for the life gain. Starting out at 2 counters is a bit of a shame though. But even if she gets bolted, she'll at least get some card advantage by throwing a dude (Nissa's Chosen?) into play first.
EDIT: Oh I just saw Nissa's Chosen. Very, very cool. When people complain about the cost and the loyalty, they seem to be forgetting one important fact...
I hate when wizards does things like this, she could be so much better and it wouldn't even affect the format if she just had at least cost 3 or had one more loyalty, god forbid both.
Am I the only one that just looks at these guys and screams [card] Lightning Bolt[card]? I mean I'm not trying to be negative but you'd think since they KNOWINGLY printed bolt they wouldn't make so many cards suspect able to it?
Though in the Demons case you have the option of playing him on turn 6 (lol sorin) to make him a 6/6 if not more. But the lingering possibility of bolt just echos in my mind.

If one does as Err does enough times, one becomes as Err is.

I love Nissa!Granted that she will never see any kind of competitive play (I have to stock my deck with crappy 2/3 for 2?I'll skip that one) but her ability are fun as hell
The demon is meh, when the flavor of the card (ex walker) is better then the card itself...
I find Nissa disappointing. In the right deck she could be beast, but she is too linear for my tastes. Her loyalty is also so small in such a powerful creature set. Seems like it could be very easy to take her out.
The Demon is very cool. Possible link to the hint Maro said about a creature being able to sacrifice and kill a planeswalker? Maybe something similar happened to him, which feeds in the whole "Zendikar is a dangerous plane even for planeswalkers" thing.
I don't know how strong the Demon will be in Standard but casual certainly loves him. He oozes with flavor and has an awesome ability and he isn't terrible, just risky in a format with so much removal.

If you couldn't tell I hate greedy blue decks.
- Nissa is meh. If Zendikar has a lot of good elves, I suppose she could be good.
- Holy **** that Demon screams EDH. Just found me my mono-black General.
- Roil Elemental looks interesting. A little expensive for two toughness, but nevertheless I really like this guy. Probably going to test him in my Azami EDH deck.
- Elemental Appeal is interesting looking. 9 total for a 14/1 trampler. Not sure it'll see any play. Maybe they'll bring back Skizzik.
- Blood Tribute is solid. Again, screams EDH with the Demon fellow.
- New Spectre is okay, but making sure they're without a hand is easier said than done.
All in all, solid previews. I'm coming around to Zendikar a little more.

I don't have any hard numbers on this, but I'm targeted more often than a black guy driving a beat-up sedan with a broken tail-light and no license plate, and Cy's well aware of that.
And that is saying nothing of the ultimate.

Please don't tell me the reason is because some loser who works for WotC decided she needed to be sexed up. Meh.

Elves are green! Turn one llanowar etc etc etc...
Nissa was part of the promotional material for Duel of the Planeswalkers and the ESRB said she was too risque.

That said, I am LOVING Roil Elemental. It's a bit small for my taste, but I'm sure to find a way to stuff it into some casual deck or another.
