This thing looks like a lot of fun. Offset their lifegain by some (or all and an extra point or two) and gain some life. For B. It's a decent card for board in limited, and I'd like it for EDH (if I had a black EDH deck). A nice card overall.

Despite my name, I do not play casual magic. Just thought that would be good to tell people.
Unless you've got a card that makes everyone gain life, this won't see much constructed play methinks. A good chunk of the constructed decks currently don't care about life gain. Might be a sideboard for a mono-black deck.
I lol'd. It's true, it's true. It's basically a Fog in that case, but I agree with the naming scheme (a bit late to lockin though, I think).
I don't think this will get played, but it'll definitely be a surprise in Limited if cast on the cheap. Cripes, 10 point lifeswing for B potentially...
Can I please Swords your creature then make you lose the life I just made you gain?
Sure, and only tap 2 lands to do that and gain some life while you are at it.
Seems overcosted on the hardcast more than usual. If there's a finks-like guy sitting in white unspoiled (a distinct possibility) then this seems good. Otherwise it seems too risky to maindeck and too... limited to take sideboard slots. Would've rather seen 3BB or 2BBB with a BB trap cost.

They're really pushing the trap mechanic with this one. Soul Feast was 4 for 5 mana, so this should hardcast cost 6, not 7. Big difference, even for casual. Trap or nothing.
Take your monoblack deck, then set aside 14 swamps. Add 4 Creeping Tar Pits, 4 Darkslick Shores, 4 Drowned Catacombs, and 2 Jwar isle Refuge and add 4 Jace, the Mindsculptors. Your monoblack deck is instantly better. Better yet, drop those refuges, throw in some islands and some mana leaks, and lo and behold, you're now playing a real deck. Congratulations. Welcome to the world of competitive M:TG.

They could have made its CC over 9000 and it wouldn't make a difference.

Going into my Sygg EDH. Too bad it's (Sygg) is rotating out, this would be really good for mono B with that.
