What's sad is the card still gets blown out by our little friends Burrenton Forge Tender.

The only problem I have with this card is that it's yet another "gold just to be gold" card. There's absolutely no reason this card needs to be any color besides red. This block has quite a few cards like that.
Seems reasonably useful, though.

Karma doesn't exist. You can't depend on it. If you count on it for justice or catharsis, you will find that you have placed your emotions on very unstable ground; and you will either repeat your disappointment in society over and over, or you will engage in a persistent delusion to protect yourself from that feeling.

Red is all about global damage. I don't know where the green part fits, but Black prefers "I hurt you but not me", so the card does have a multicolor feel to it.

Umm... well... pure Red effects couldn't be laser pointed like that. Look at how much Flame Wave costed.
... even the seems well placed to me, though I'm not sure how...

This card is good in standard, and absolute 100% win the game right now bomb nuts in limited. Even if you're just casting it for 4/5, it's still going to instantly win the game almost every time. It's pretty apparent that they weren't thinking about tempo when this card was designed.
Honestly, IMO it's too good of a card. It won't impact the current standard alot, but I'd expect it to be huge in Block and next year's Standard, considering the absolute lack of any good countermagic in the sets that will be available then(I can't see 11th bringing any better counterspells than 10th has..they'll probably manage to get worse somehow).
I do agree that the card didn't really need to be these colors, though. If they wanted to make it a multi-color card, they should have made it cost WURBG, same effect, with Domain. At least then it's not just utterly retarded.

It absolutely need to be all 3 colours. Green is needed to hit the flying creatures (Just like how Savage Twister needs both red and green) and black is required to make the effect asymmetrical (Like Plague Wind or Reaver Demon).
Earthquake, Flame Break, and Tremor (For starters) say you need green.

Right, just like Flame Wave needed to be green and black.
As for placing it into the shards...that's fine, and I could see this as a card, I guess. But...green?

Flame Wave is an exception and is about 12 years old. Name another red card that does that (Since I gave multiple examples for each thing)
#edit: Citing Flame Wave is like citing Psionic Blast or Mana Vortex as being in colour.

This is just awesome for Jund token decks! For a deck that falls so hard to board wipes, this is just a slap in the face to your opponent! "Pardon me while I wipe YOUR board then swing with a mass of tokens!"

Ok, first of all, Flame Wave was reprinted in 9th Edition, and isn't remotely obsolete in color pie terms. You want another example? How about Chandra Nalaar, which is not only in Lorwyn but is confirmed to be reprinted in M10.
I know you guys can cite Simoon and other multicolored cards that have similar effects, but you're missing the point, which is that it's silly to put it on a gold card when red can do this perfectly well on its own. The other colors are simply unnecessary. So yeah, Simoon is silly too, and by the way, it's older and less recently reprinted than Flame Wave.

Edit: You guys are overlooking something. This only hits the creatures that player controls. It's a one sided sweep.

Yes, but the point is that cards that have more than one color should represent each color they use.

And if it also said "Put a creature named Tarmogoyf into play."
...Not going to happen.
Red has plenty of "I hurt you but not me" cards, and black has plenty of "I'm willing to hurt myself if that's what it takes to hurt you" cards. Something like this could possibly be black, but doesn't need to be, and has very little reason to be green at all.

Instead of placing it into the color pie, place it into the 5 shards. I think the coloring on this card is more flavor than color pie.

Anywho. This is a fantastic card. Blaze + Earthquake + Hurricane... all one sided though. Hot for 5CC in block, for sure.
So, for seven mana it's a one sided Flame wave? Heck yes, I'll take two!

Since when does one card set the "rules" for the color pie?
Well, Volcanic Fallout, and I guess the Hurly half of Hurly-Burly. Not at all ironclad but at least recent.
