Quote from Kirblar(Sword of Fire and Ice is NOT a colorless card flavor-wise.)
Quote from kamuishirouBlue Artifact. We've seen it before with Futursight, but now that it's 'just' an Artifact and not a creature. I'm waiting to see Maro explain why this isn't an enchantment other than being creative.
Quote from ElricJCWhy is Orb blue? Why, dang it?
Quote from ateneo10an "orb" can't be an enchantment, because it is more of a tangible object, which is what an artifact should personify
Quote from MajoraXWhy is Canonist worded so awkwardly?
Quote from AtriusEvery creature in Esper is an artifact. There will be plenty of decent artifacts in Alara standard.
Canonist can be powerful if the opponent has trouble getting rid of it. Definately fits in an Esper themed deck.
Quote from rancored_elfGatherer says there are 9 enchantments that are "spheres", and stuff like Dispersing Orb, and dozens of enchantments whose art shows them as round or spherical objects. Just because the art they used for Mindlock Orb shows a spherical object doesn't mean it was forced into being an artifact. They clearly made it a coloured artifact, and then made the name and artwork to fit.

Players can't search libraries.
Quote from Horseshoe_Hermit"Each player can't play more than one nonartifact spell each turn." If Rule of Law can look like that, why can't this?
Quote from ateneo10i wholeheartedly agree that they could have very well amde it an enchantment by just changing the name and the whole creative side as to what causes the mindlock
Quote from rancored_elfGood points, especially this one.
Hey, I just noticed, Ethersworn Canonist doesn't restrict as much as I thought it did. Each player can play as many artifacts as you want, and they can still end off with a non-artifact spell. So turns like Icy Manipulator, Masticore, Incinerate are perfectly unhampered by Canonist being in play. Not exactly a Rule of Law.

I...I really have nothing to say.
This is EPIC.
Quote from darkhirokiMaralen just found her new toy..
mindlock orb + maralen of the mornsong = your game turns into a sudden death.
hhhmmm... i like to build a deck....
anyways, im loving the canonist. elf-ball would be sad when she hits play.
Quote from Noman PeopledI doubt that. It's restrictive enough that it shouldn't see widespread play. In any case, won't rotation pretty much kill storm combo anyway?
Quote from Orange MageIn general, Machius is right on the button. You should follow his line of thinking.
Quote from rancored_elfThey took creature pumping enchantments and made them artifacts (Leonin Scimitar and friends) and now every other artifact is up for grabs as well? I mean, for crying out loud, enchantments can now TAP. They can do (and be) everything artifacts can do and be.
Quote from FirstTypeEthersworn Canonist seems like it could be a sideboard option in Vintage WU Fish decks to fight storm-based combo decks.
Quote from KazanduIf something is bad, it can't be a legend. This octopus is, so i am sure it is a very strong card.
