I actually like the Woodfall Primus, he could be really good in a Reanimator-esque deck. With a Husk out, you can kill 6 lands/non-creatues and pump the Husk to a 14/14.

wow, i'm surprised fulminator mage is getting these negative responses. seems absolutely amazing to me. thats got to be one of the best 3 drops for RDW i've ever seen!

you need to re-read persist. it only triggers if the creature has no -1/-1 counters on it when it dies, and it brings it back with a -1/-1 counter. unless you had another card that moved the counters off the primus you couldn't bring it back more than once with a Nantuko Husk.
The Fulminator Mage is a nice card. I like how it can attack and then Stone Rain a Nonbasic on command. I'll use it in my MB decks to kill of Treetop Villages and Mutavaults!!! :evillol::laugh:
Sorry to disagree here, but this Fulminator Mage is SOOOOOO gonna get played!!! Can't believe you guys don't see it! With the amount of nonbasics getting played in T2 and Extended ATM, this thing is capable of disrupting a control deck's mana base way better than anything except Destructive Flow!
And we won't have Destructive Flow in the format forever, kids... (that's actually a good thing)
The only sad thing is that this'll probably replace Molten Rain or Pillage in some decklists. Are we REALLY getting to a point where Pillage is becoming subpar?!? WTF?!?

People hiss and grunt at Mark Rosewater for the state of the game. Few realize, though, that it is Aaron Forsythe who is directly responsible of the current state of affairs due to negligence as head of Magic R&D and a completely skewed view of the game as a whole.
So next time you want to make an avvy with Rosewater pissing on something, take a deep breath and consider pasting Forsythe's face there instead...
Persist not justified? I guess the 6 mana is steep but its a damn common
O and the 6/6 Trampling persister that destory a non-creature! Come one

Rosewater: "Color Pie, WTF is that, If I want Black to be able to wrath, counter and have green creatures then I will damnit!"
Random RnD guy: "RED AKORMA! FTW!"
Gleemax: "Rosewater has broken out of my mind control!"
RnD after 2008:

Random RnD Guy: OO lets make a new RED RARITY SYMBOL!
MARO: OMGWTFBBQ! Thats a great idea, we'll call it Mythic Rarity!
Gleemax: NOT AGAIN! CELEB
What saddens me the most about this batch is that some are good, some are bad but the land is the best and it's gonna be the expensive "very hard to get" one along with its counterparts.
presist seems to be on a ton of over costed cards. i don't feel that the advantage of presist plus justifies the high cost.
Well, it has some inherent card advantage. I think that justifies the cost. If I play those goblins and you shock it, it comes back as a 4/1. So, I still have a 4/1 trampler, you're out a burn card, and you're likely trading another card while I push through for a couple points of trample damage. Pretty good for a common in :symrg:.

You people are nuts who dont like the mage. it is so far one of the few good playables they have previewed so far. Obviously the land is good too. On the downside, Everything seems to have a little bit to high of casting cost in this set.
Fulminator Mage is a clear money card. Most red decks will run four, as will most black decks.
It's not quite Thoughtseize level (some decks that can make the mana cost reliably won't have much use for this, such as Mana Ramp), but it's pretty close.
i will play fulminator mage I guess goblins are green now so I'll switch to cinders. BOO YA I got 4 graven Cairns and there here to stay for another 1.5 years
*shrug* Fulminator Mage is awesome and just the Shaman I needed to kill Reveillark/Faeries with my Shaman deck. I can use that 4 spots Sensation Gorger was leeching before without ruining Kinship.
Oh, and did I mention that besides getting pumped by Rage Forger and a kinship enabler with Wolf-Skull Shaman and Leafy Elder, I would be able to fetch this guy with Flamekin Harbringer?
The way I understand it is that once a creature with persist comes back with it's -1/-1 counter on it, it is no longer self-reanimated unless the counter is removed.
Wow, for some reason I was thinking untill it was dead from -1/-1 counters. I'm an idiot.

The Fulminator Mage feels too much like an uncommon to me. It's possibly a great card, but it definitely doesn't feel like a rare. If they become popular in tournaments then maybe they'll be worth something, but they don't seem exciting or powerful enough to be worth enough for me to ever be happy to open one as opposed to something more interesting.

Land destruction with legs... Although a little bit underwhelming, in an environment full of very good non-basic lands, he is sure to have a target. But between this and Magus of the Moon, I'm leaning towards the Magus.
The other cards don't really stand out. The goblin is a very nice limited card and should be able to sneak in some points of damage with taking a creature out and should be quite a threat if you find a way to remove that -1/-1. The treefolk has a nice ability but is a bit over costed. The horror is not really impressive... It can be a beater that can grow up to 8/8 or a creature kill card (or both), but for 6 and you have something else to maximize it, I think I'll pass...
For some reason I thought Grief Tyrant would be rare, ya know FOUR -1/-1 counters which you can obviously add more too with cards like Leech Bonder and what have you. And then if you decide to remove them all you've got an 8/8... and it's uncommon? TO me that seems a bit broken. Of course we haven't see even half of Shadowmoor so maybe there's a reason.
The fulminator mage is a decent looking card it just doesnt have the WOW factor that goes into preview cards. i think if people just found it in the set instead of seeing it as a preview it would get a much better reception. It is not as good as wasteland in formats that allow it but theres a decent number of non-basics worth hosing in standard and extended. Itll see play but it wont be a huge must have rare
The land confirms a cycle most of us suspected for some time now and we now have the official name of the card in that cycle that will likely be going for the most money initially
The primus I have mixed feelings about it really depends how well we will be able to move around -1/-1 counters in green. If green has some capability to move or remove those counters then this can become a very strong green card. The CITP ability goes very nicely with persist especially if persist can trigger multiple times and the body really doesnt suffer from the -1/-1 counter from persist
Grief Tyrant really has me thinking about whether i want to find a way to unload the counters before it dies or load him up with counters to destroy another creature. If you can remove those counters then youll end up with an 8/8 for 6 mana that is very splashable but. Loading it up with counters works as well for taking out larger creatures. This kinda seems like a bigger reversed nekretaal.
The goblins are a great fit for the goblin tribe both in terms of power and the flavor of goblins and again if green can remove counters then its a very strong card. Also of interest is that this might be the first time weve seen goblins in green (the color of mana used not the color of their skin

From MaRo
Every rarity gets good cards. That means that some mythic rares will be tournament quality as will some commons, some uncommons and some rares. My promise wasn't that mythic rares wouldn't get good cards but that we wouldn't limit the good cards to only being mythic rare.
Bear this in mind the next time a powerful mythic rare is spoiled

Odds are that'll be the last card they preview.
Anyone got a pic of that token yet? It's taking forever to load for me.
1 mana less no haste no ECHO you just sac him if you want the effect now otherwise you can use him as beats.
Unless your deck is all about blink or something then odds are hes better then riders. Since 99% of the time no one pays echo on riders anyways.
He can also pull many two for ones if they burn him or something or block him with another 2/2 there ya go mogg fanatic style.
Feel free to bid on my cards here!
