Considering it'll be a chase rare, it's pretty exciting news. But yeah, would have been wonderful to have some new info. Not so hot on the art either...

How hard do we have to work now a days for a little value in this game? ;p
I can't se the image because my school blocked it, but I'll see it when i get home.
My thoughts on Demigod beign the card though - Excited because it'll make it easier to pick up what would otherwise potentially be a format defining card (based on what we currently know), plus as I intend to attend the PR, my odds of picking up a set are quite good.
On the downside - The first new card pic we get in a pretty dry rumour season (so far.... we're not that far into the season of course!) is a rehash of the only known card i nthe set. Lame.
Although I can't see the card, the promise of a creature with a massive phallus for a head with tournament playability at my disposal seems like a promising notion indeed. Can't wait for April.
Dirty pool, Wizards, previewing the prerelease card. Your preview choices are getting better, but couldn't you at least have given us a different card in the same cycle?
A giant WTF at the alt. art, too. Historically speaking almost all of the prere cards have been hotter than the regular versions; this one is a huge step down.
While the alt art is a bit, um, terrible, and the fact that we already knew the card is disappointing, what bothers me the MOST, is that we already have a B/R hybrid mana only prerelease card in the form of Avatar of Discord. I mean, the names are even similar. As a promo collector I find it rather boring to get almost the same card that we essentially got 2 years ago at the Dissension prerelease.
I actually like the alternate art. It looks very grotesque. The card is very mediocre and unimpressive. I would have hoped they show off one of the {2/C} mana cost cards since Ravnica's prerelease card already showed off a hybrid card in the past.
What are the chances that the ONLY card we know is the prerelease card?
I don't like the picture.
Oh well. Good find.
About 100%. Seen as how the only card we knew was on an official MTG.com preview.....I didn't think it'd be a coincidence that the rare was the one they showed and that it is the pre-release promo.
I agree on the picture though. Kinda dumb. I like the normal ones better. Nonetheless, promoness gets some people off, so I'll sell mine to people who drool over them.

The thing I like about this version's art is the fact that it feels like a snapshot of it in motion. The chains on the left are straining, while the ones in the back have just been snapped.
While I like the card itself as a prerelease card, the alternate art is horrible. It looks like it has male genitalia for a head.
Nice find though, thanks for the info.
Dude...that is one JACK-UP *****!:o
I love when they do alternate art for the cards. This one though....the art was much better in the set version. I am glad that everyone gets one though...that creature is just too good to not be owned by every magic player out there!

What are the chances that the ONLY card we know is the prerelease card?
Since it's not exactly a coincidence (Wizards decides the prerelease card, and Wizards gave this to us as our first preview), pretty high. It's a bit of a cheat compared with past 'Week Zero' previews - but then, the real 'Week Zero' preview was the booster rather than the card. I rather prefer this art to the one on the main set version. Not complaining about having this as the preview, though - I can't see this making the waves Korlash did, but it's at the same level as, say, Lightning Dragon as one of those rare finds: a constructed-playable prerelease card. I agree, though, that it is a bit boring to have an improved version of Avatar of Discord as the prerelease; at least this one will see play outside it.
EDIT: Also, it strikes me that this art more or less confirms that the card belongs to a cycle, since there's a very similar-looking creature as one of the booster arts, only with its head raised (that seems to have chains too).
Dudes, this is quite logical right?
Here in the Netherlands we always have two dates, one for the national prerelease events which are bigger, and the in-store prereleases which tend to be much smaller and always one weekend later... Which actually kinda helps, because you can go to the prerelease prepared because you already know the entire cardpool
Edit: As for the picture though, I thought at first it was a cool picture, but after reading the comments I think I will also never be able to look at it again without thinking of the one-eyed-trouser-snake....
I guess some Magic players have a hard time getting out of the phallic stage...
It's smart to preview a rare, build its hype, then show people that it will be the pre-release card to make them want to play even more. Even if some Spikes aren't as impressed by it, this is a HUGE Timmy/Johnny card.
if this has been posted already I'm sorry...I couldn't find it on the first page though
I don't like the picture.

My first thought?
That there looks like a chained up *****.
Boo @ Wizards for two reasons:
1) Using the only preview card as a pre-re card
2) That 'art'. Seriously. Who approved bondage ***** as foily art?
Argh, can't unsee it =.=
I was wondering for some time that Demigod can be the prerelease card. It seems I'm not alone **
Also, I don't understand the background of that pic. Where the heck is it?

Exactly my thoughts, are we going to have 2 pre-release weekends? If so, this is going to be very interesting.
EDIT: I agree that the art looks MUCH worse than the revealed art, oh well, hope I get some in my packs, not only the participation ones.

is the latter date the release tournaments maybe?
But then, is it going to be the release promo, too?
Well Wizards has made an official statement on their ask wizards question of the day that release tournament cards will now be rares....so maybe?
