Deathrender can be used in conjunction with Enduring Renewal to produce some pretty decent combos. Heck with just bottle gnomes you have an infinite life loop. There is definitely some kind of potential here, whether it be more casual or even tourney viable.

bah... just went back and read everyone's post. Guess I'm not the only fan of standard Fruity Pebbles action (if possible).
The card has potential, sure, but what it boils down to for me is that at four mana, the need of a sac outlet, and equip costs, you're putting a lot of resources into getting a cheap fatty.
A reanimate spell will cost you just the same four, minus the rest of the hassles. All you need do is dump your target in the graveyard, and there are plenty of ways to do that.
You shouldn't need to chain out huge creatures to win the game, the first one you drop should be able to do it for you. Akroma, Hellkite, Guile, etc.
The combo potential with this card is definitely viable, but if you're simply thinking about cheating big creatures into play, I'd go the easier route (unless you refuse to play black or white.)
Deathrender: Wow it is a card mentioned by the guy who told us about Neo-Duress, does give me a bit of hope for Neo-Duress. Deathrender itself is cool and potentially very strong in a deck built around it, however the 4 cost might be a bit too expensive for competitive play(3 would have seen heaps of play).
Battle Mastery: Okay doublestrike aura, cool. Reasonable price, good limited card the fact it's an aura hurts it in standard. The weird thing is the fact it's white, I know white gets doublestrike but it's always felt like a predominantly red ability with white as a secondary color.
Tidbits:
- 1cc merfolk- return of Reef Shaman although hopefully they'll make it a 1/1 instead of a 0/2.
-Tradewind Rider Merfolk- cool but probably Keeper of the Nine Gales-esque, hopefully though it will have 4 toughness or more(or at least 3) because the Keepers killer was it's 2 point toughness.
- Changeling Equipment- Tribal Artifact would be cool, hopefully 1 and 1 but since that's almost strictly better than Leonin Scimitar i'm guessing 2 and 1.
