Too bad Pyromancer's Swath doesn't read "effect you control" instead of "instant or sorcery you control"...because then it would be very good with Stormbind in Standard and Seismic Assault in Extended. I mean, that is so much synergy: you discard your hand to deal damage, so that the drawback doesn't matter.
Not that I'm complaining too much; it's still good with Fiery Temper.

- Chuck Norris counted to infinity twice—because he was trying to count how much damage Jon Finkel deals in an average game.
- Jon Finkel believes in maintaining a healthy, balanced diet. He gets all his fiber from eating Magic cards for breakfast, and all his protein from eating Magic players for lunch.
FYI the mana won't last ill yoru discard phase, and I don't think each storm copy gets the bonus as well.
The storm copies are red and they are seperate sources so they each get the bonus. But you're right about the mana, it doesn't last until your end step. It'd empty from your mana pool at the end of your main phase.
Oriss is interesting though, I'd like to see her art.
yes it adds to storm copies and any copy of an instant or sorcery, it deal an additional 2 damage whenever damage is dealt.. hmm let me read it again
yes yes.. it increase each instances of damage to each target.. if you storm grapeshot 5 times it does 15, ignite memories becomes a little better. If you pyroclasm it deals 4 dmg to each creature. if you sulfur blast during your main phase it does 5.. skred lightning bolts with one snow land. only problem is char now does 6 to them 4 to you.. Midnight charm does 3, so does the coldsnap card. Electrolyze can lightning bolt two different critters.. helix is insane. tamanoa goes holly crappy. sunlance for 5.. fiery justice.. fiery justice lightning bolts 5 critters.. sure i'll let my opponent gain 5. Conflag became pretty good at taking out critters. this makes Pyromantics playable, maybe..
getting around the discard part is pretty easy. play bottled cloister. cast some instants before it triggers, you won't have a hand to ditch. ignorant bliss works for that too. and everyone else mentioned madness/hellbent.
if it was non-creature source, it'ld be broke. turn 3 swath turn 4 pyrohemia... turn 5, everything takes 15..
oh oriss is nifty too. All the granduer legends are nifty. can't wait for the green and red ones.

First off, the pyromancy card is amazing. Secondly, its really frigging amazing. Thirdly, I hope they print Ensnaring Bridge for tenth. So red gets colorless burn, uncounterable/unrespondible Earthquake, and this? Wow...thats unbelieveable.
Oh and Evolution Charm gets played alot in my area so Oriss is being fetched back with this instant and not through some creature

I love grandeur. I must now get a playset or two of undertaker to abuse oriss as well as linessa. A hard lock like this would be howling mine, 2x Undertaker. This would enable you to lock out the oppoentn on both your and their turns forevermore.
Edit: It is also nice to see that scepter chant can live on in extended post rotation with evolution charm going on the stick and the grandeur of oriss
Every rarity gets good cards. That means that some mythic rares will be tournament quality as will some commons, some uncommons and some rares. My promise wasn't that mythic rares wouldn't get good cards but that we wouldn't limit the good cards to only being mythic rare.
Bear this in mind the next time a powerful mythic rare is spoiled
Thanks to chaostheory90 for finding this quiz for me
Teferi, Oriss and Undertaker. EOT Teferi, next turn drop Oriss and Undertaker. During opponent's upkeep, discard for Grandeur. Not quite soft lock, badabing!
Oriss- Another great grandeur legend, a 1/3 for 1WW with a prevent all damage to target creature ability is pretty solid even as a legend but the fact that grandeur is Orim's Chant makes it fantastic, i can see a lot of people trying to abuse this and some probably succeeding.
Swath- Interesting- In the right deck(one full of cheap burn) its a very powerful tool, it reminds me of burning bridges(mono red Ensnaring Bridge + Grafted Skullcap + burn) and would fit very well into that deck in older formats.
does anyone remember burning bridges? it didn't do much in standard, and fewer in other formats, but it at least was amusing...
Now I know for shure that burning bridges would love to run Pyromancer's Swath instead of Words of War, or simply as an addition to the decklist and sideboard, pushing something else out of it....
I don't think flahsback conflagrate for 0 deals any damage even with Swath. (need help from some rule gurus), but it will net you a card to break your own softlock for a turn.
Good thinking I guess I was too excited........
Yeah, free one-sided Pyroclasm obviously is TOO good
holy ****. this is crazy. oriss is orims chant on a creature.
The swath is very sweet. RB madness decks will be happy. especially with the madness for R 3 damage card, now 5 damage. will need stuff like phyrexian arena to fill their hand but still nice.

wow...crazy orim's chant status. with legs. swath doesn't do much unless we see some tourney-worthy madness cards. i like the flavor of the swath, very nice touch.
Pyromancer's Swath 2R Enchantment If and instant or sorcery source you control would deal damage to a creature or player, it deals that much damage plus 2 to that creature or player instead. At the end of your turn, discard your hand. Rare.
That's fantastic combined with Keldon Megaliths. It gives you Hellbent and turns a pinger in to a legit damage source. Not to mention it works well with Fiery Temper (free discard outlet) and Grapeshot (each copy will do 3 damage).
I do very much like Oriss, and Pyromancer's can have a lot of potential, too, if done right. My roommate's gonna drool over that one.
Shame it's not very viable to recycle the Orisses from the graveyard in U/W, though (as far as I can think), or that'd make my U/W deck that much more sickeningly control. :3

Yet Another [Æther] Vort... err... Banner! And Avatar! Thanks, Le_Gambit!
The orim card's playability is much lessened with sudden death in the format. Also, it's essentially unplayable until turn 5 otherwise you're just begging for last gasp or some sort of removal. With the amount of counterspells and removal in type 2, it will be difficult to build a deck that can not only fetch her, but also maintain both and it and the lock.
The red enchantment is pretty cool, kind of like a furnace of rath for one less mana. Burn decks might be able to use it for sure.

Debtors' Knell + Enduring Renewal + Oriss could work in any deck with W, no?
During Upkeep, with Oriss in play, Oriss in graveyard returns to play.
Both Oriss are put back in your hand by Legend rule + Enduring Renewal
Play one Oriss during your turn
Discard the other to Grandeur during the opponent's Upkeep
If you also have Teferi, the lock becomes tighter, obviously, and Sudden Death is unplayable.
All this talk of oriss recursion locks just seems like a bad joke ending in Extirpate. It's a nice card, but locking people up just seems unlikely. Altho' it's nice enough gainst MGA. I just don't see any locks happening against most decks.
