I still like Rorix better, but this guy is fairly good. Though there are no archetypes he could go into presently, he could be a house after rotation/in block.
Haste? Hm, possibly another card for Dragonstorm to run? In fact, it enables the deck post-rotation. 4 Hellkites and a Tarox for 24 damage. But it loses Gigadrowse, so who knows.

Getting the last word does not mean that you win the argument.
This is actually very good in my opinion. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this saw a lot of play. The grandeur ability is actually deceptively good, because if you end up with two of them in hand it actually becomes a 16/15. It also has very nice synergy with various pump spells, and the 5 mana cost makes it playable in RG beats type decks.
I saw a dragon and immediately thought dragonstorm since I'm running it. I was looking for a replacement for hunted dragon. Unfortunately, this card is not it. It's 1 power short from being good, it's a shame. It has haste and it's a dragon, almost perfect but it falls short... I'm dissappointed
Pretty good. Not crazy good considering this guy asks for a four-of treatment and has triple R in his casting cost. But should still be useful in the right aggro deck.
Every rarity gets good cards. That means that some mythic rares will be tournament quality as will some commons, some uncommons and some rares. My promise wasn't that mythic rares wouldn't get good cards but that we wouldn't limit the good cards to only being mythic rare.
Bear this in mind the next time a powerful mythic rare is spoiled

Listen... red doesn't get +2,+2 for R. Which means I have to think that the special ability takes up most of that (assuming red gets +1,+1 for R - even on a legend - then this means the granduer ability is in place of the +1,+1.).
I suppose this could be quite a surprise, and I suppose I could even see running raise dead-style cards to granduer my opponent to death (grim harvest to turn 8 into 16... oh, wait, I also giant growth it... and open myself up to one hell of a X for 1).
It's a dragon for dragonstorm in block - but not cool. Cool flavor, but really - when all is said and done, why couldn't we get trample too?
Edit: While the turn 1 win is "interesting" - in the same way it was in Kamigawa block; I think I'd prefer decent stats and a relatively cool ability "Granduer - discard me: I do damage equal to my power to target creature or player. Because I'm a b*d*ss like that."

only if you can figure out how to deal with all the pesky cheap flying blockers. They'll force your hand more than you'd like I'm sure. though I can see some sorth of crazy R-beats deck with this, AkromaFury and the like swinging through the air for the kill. If you frenzy this guy, then discard a guy to him that's... a 16/11 trampler that dies at end of turn, but hell... that's 16 DAMAGE FLYING!!! hard to deal with. short of... you know... dealing with it.
Slightly underpowered for a dragon, but a little lower costed, so that's nice. the grandeur is sure to be fun. good excuse to run 4 of this guy.
too bad he dosent have Firebreathing....sorta makes the ebst part about him the flavor text.
edit: on a second note, does anyone else find it odd that grandeur on all these cards is written as though there is more than one with that name? I mean, how could Tarox Bladewing's Power be variable enough so that when it's discarded it gives something other than +4/+4?

Hmmm? Weaker than Rorix by quite a LOT, though the Grandeur helps a bit on that. But then again, 6/6 flying haster for 6 is way too much better than a 4/3 flying haster for 5...... pity........
This guy is brilliant. He is mono red's lightning angel, only he hit's harder, with no defense to speak of, and can make himself into a true terror. I like him more then hunted dragon in dragonstorm as well. Mono red was already about to break through the format, and I believe this guy could contribute to that inevitability.
True, the other grandure cards have more swingy effects, but some of us consider turn three flying haste and 8 damage pretty swingy in itself. It's not cute. It's not a soft lock.
But the ticking clock, from 20 to 0 just got a little shorter. It doesn't have to be cute to get that job done.

A weaker Rorix with Grandeur and lesser stats...
Nothing constructed-worthy, here, I wouldn't say.

Well, if you read the article, you'll see that this "Lil'Rorix" just wants to be like papa.
So, does this guy/family have the record for most Legends containing the same name?
I'm still iffy on Grandeur, but this guy is better suited for his job than Oriss. Even if he doesn't pump himself on his first turn, he still swings.
Thanks to Craven at Epic Graphics!
I guess I can tolerate the red FS frame; its not as good as white's, but better than the other three.
