Magus of the Path 3
Artifact Creature - Construct
Indestructable
Magus of the Path cannot Attack or Block.
1t: If two creatures an opponent controls are blocking, do something unnecessarily complex that has no effect on the game; then destroy half the creatures you control and punch yourself in the face.
0/3
OK I think we finally have a definite 4-of for Spike Control decks and probably for white beats decks too. Flash gives him that extra edge already as a 3/3 for four but the protection puts him over the top. A definitely playable card - FINALLY!
I'm considering some combo possibilities right now. Some way to bounce cards would make this a lot more powerful. Two of them plus Cloudstone Curio, for example.
Good card overall. The size is alright, and Ferret nailed pretty much everything. It's definitely a good way to stop storm (as in dragonstorm) from white's perspective.
And Ferret forgot that Psychic Possession falls off as well.
At one point in time, I heard that Wizards will be finishing up old sets, much like they did with cold snap finishing up ice age. I wonder if this is a hint at another sort of stand-alone set, like cold-snap, that's used to finish up Arabian Nights block? Hmm? Maybe I can just hope.
It's a little expensive. I might have liked it more as 1WW for a 2/2, but I'm not sure I want to pay four mana for a souped-up Fog with legs. Maybe, though. I'm undecided.
Holy moly... I understand that for any action on the forums (people liking a good card) there will be an equal and opposite reaction (people hating on a good card), but this is a very unfortunate under-estimation of what this card can do.
1. As a surprise blocker, it's big enough to kill most things coming at it.
2. Most of the applications won't be preventing combat damage, but countering spells that target you or stopping your opponent's bevy of Bogardan Hellkites from capping you in one turn.
It's very powerful. I probably wouldn't call it a chase rare, but I'd predict that it will be one of the top five cards in the set. Compare to Loxodon Hierarch (not for functionality, but for equivalent power / $$$ price).
Eh, I'm not a huge fan of the art but I really like that ability. I especially like it against Dragonstorm. Pop this kitty out then Wrath to own them. Like others said, it's good against Tendrils. Maybe it can help against Solidarity...? ^^;
Egyptian flavor is totally awesome, either way.

Yeah...if they were to "finish" the Arabian Nights block with an additional set (in this case, Egypt), they could run with some awesome desert themes.
After all, at least one Desert-themed card is played...though I can't recall it's name...always escapes me...
A long time ago, I started a desert theme deck for the fun of it. Deserts, Camel, Desert Nomad, sand storm, etc - anything to fit the flavor of desert and things related to them. This could be really cool! It would be interesting to have 'sand covered lands' and create new landy-sandy abilities.
So, it's kind of like a fog on a creature as long as the opponent is dealing damage with a specific color. I guess I should be impressed but I'm not. Meh. I'm waiting for something to blow my doors off like Damnation did but so far, I'm unimpressed with the FS previews.
Wow, Damnation blew your doors off? How sad. Seeing as that its just Wrath of God, nothing new at all, and this is a pretty amazing card.
If anyone knows why G0-DRAW was banned I would love it if they would PM me. That guy was pure entertainment 100% of the time. Plus he never publicly responded to his Contraptions "Proof" that never panned out.
I'm not to sure that this guy is going to stop ext storm, it's not fast enough. But as for standard I can see it being played as a demonfire/disintegrate counterspell. Not sure it has much potential outside of block and T2 though. Wierd art... can't tell if I hate it or love it, but it is different.
They forgot one thing on the rules text, if you attack your opponent, he can't block you with cards of that colour.
No, this is false.
He can still block. Your creatures do not have Protection, only you.

That sounds awesome! I doubt we'd have "sand-covered" lands, but I can see lots of lands having the "Desert" sub-type...and more creatures like Camel with Protection from Deserts or even Desertwalk...
2. Most of the applications won't be preventing combat damage, but countering spells that target you or stopping your opponent's bevy of Bogardan Hellkites from capping you in one turn.
For what it's worth, this card hardly does anything at all to stop Dragonstorm. You stop the Hellkites from targeting you... so they kill all of your creatures and swoop in on the attack next turn. Short of holding a Wrath, that's not much use to you.
I dont get what everyone is raving about this card. It stops demonfire and thats it. It does nothing to dragonstorm. D-Storm will either gigadrowse before storming or if it doesnt do that and you pull this off bravo. Now unless you got a *** in your hand or on top of your deck you still have 4 5/5 flyers that will attack you next turn.
Also a 3/3 for 4 is sub par. For 4 mana the standard is now a 4/4 at the very least and anything else better have a gamebreaking effect. One turn of story circle is hardly gamebreaking
Every rarity gets good cards. That means that some mythic rares will be tournament quality as will some commons, some uncommons and some rares. My promise wasn't that mythic rares wouldn't get good cards but that we wouldn't limit the good cards to only being mythic rare.
Bear this in mind the next time a powerful mythic rare is spoiled

Another sick flash creature, as others have said U/W control is looking better and better right now. Teachings has new friends in the form of Venser and Tiger.
I just realized. Mycoloth perfectly demonstrates the devour mechanic.
Mycoloth: NOMNOMNOM on Dragon Fodder.
One turn later, 1/1 turds come out.

btw i did it because i could. i was bored and decided to let my little med-free spree go ahead. I am bipolar, explaining all the drama that ensued after. I have problems.

Control. Always. Wins.
While the card is nice, I'm much more interested in the concept of an Egyptian/Indian block (who DOESN'T want a cow in a non-un-set)?
Also, GOGO Kitties!!!
And Ferret forgot that Psychic Possession falls off as well.

cuz Body Double, Evangelize, Heidar, Aethermage's Touch, Mimeofacture, and maybe even Carven Caryatid really bit the biscuit.
Don't forget how bad Measure of Wickedness, Toshi Umezawa, and Hold the Line were too.

You can't be targeted, dealt damage or enchanted by anything of the chosen color.
So that means more enchant players. I sincerely doubt they would put that in the reminder text just for paradox haze.
Might be showing my ignorance here but doesn't the enchantment target the player? If so that would be covered right?
After all, at least one Desert-themed card is played...though I can't recall it's name...always escapes me...
This is included for things that move enchantments around, I'd say.

It targets it initially, but giving a player untargetability doesn't cause the enchantment to fall off. Only protection does that.
This and Venser are both strong combo disruptors in flash creature form. Aggro's getting better all the time...
Make a card called Long For This World.
