So it was Monday evening here in Auckland NZ about 8:00pm, and I was just kickin' back sippin' on some flat Cola, when the power blacks out!
Funny that; the lights in the houses nextdoor to us are all on, and across the road and down the street... hmmmm... "WTF is going on??" I said to myself...
Suddenly the power flicked back on (After being out for around 45 seconds) and to my surprise: A note has been pasted to my CPU screen... written in CRAYON!!!
Those crazy Ninjas ...er... those Ninja kids I should say... they had left a short but concise message from...
You guessed it... Them!
Dear James,
Sorry for the intrusion, but you have to be warned...
Keldon Megaliths Land Keldon Megaliths comes into play tapped. Tap: Add R to your mana pool Hellbent - 1R, Tap: Keldon Megaliths deals 1 damage to target creature or player. 170/180 Uncommon.

Tolaria West has a brother, and aparently three sisters too... That's means it's part of a cycle to you lesser learned folk.
Let the speculation begin on what the other three lands hold... oh, I guess I'll give y'all a clue: One of them has an ability which has never ever been on a non-creature card before...
Very nice. Reminds me of cursed scroll. Run out of steam in the lategame? Just ping each turn with this. Frankly, I worry about the power level a little.

Vintage - Where second turn indestructible 11/11's just don't cut it anymore.
I would guess that the mysterious ability on a land would be one of the Ravnica keywords. I'm guessing Graft. Mark Rosewater mentioned that a land with Graft was killed during design, and this is the perfect time to print it.
That seems pretty nutty for a sligh-type deck. At first I wasnt too incredibly impressed, even though it is good...then I realized you could have multiples out. Ouch.

Coming into play tapped hurts this, but not a lot. Amazing for late game in sligh type decks. Producing red mana is a definite plus (means this beats out Shivan Gorge). And being able to hit creatures is extra icing (great for taking out those pesky soltari priests). 2 damage would have been amazing, but 1 is nice. I definitely want ~2 for my red legacy sligh deck.

A land with Hellbent... really wonder what abilities the remainder of this cycle would have...
I also think graft is possible. Maybe Forecast and Radiance too. I don't think they can come with good Replicate, Bloodthirst or Haunt abilities on lands. Or maybe not.
99% sure that it'll be a grafting forest, given that we've seen various versions of that card already, and they've said they wanted to make it several times.
Edit: Actually, with all the land destruction/removal in the format, I could see a Haunt-Land. Maybe something like Flagstones, only more.

Graft - good possibility

Graft 1 (This land comes into play with a +1/+1 counter on it. Whenever another creature comes into play, you may move a +1/+1 counter from this land onto it.)
Any reason why we're all thinking of just Rav abilities? I remember the thread with the morphing enchantment also mentioned a morphing land, seems like the winner to me.

Wow, sweet. I agree this land could be a sweet kid Late game when we have lots of lands and copies of this, we can fire 4 damage a turn (for a hefty 8 mana, true, but dooh :D).
I will want this in my red aggro decks
Surging Spring

Ripple 4 (When you put this card into play, you may reveal the top four cards of your library. You may put into play any revealed cards with the same name as this card. Put the rest on the bottom of your library.)
i like it!
tho i think it should either produce color mana or not come into play tapped
welll .. might see some play in RG or BR Gargadon ... but i doubt it will see much play - just cas u have to be wit ur empty hand just to deal one damage .. and nodeck loves to b w/o cards in hand ..
I remember reading that they originally had the keyword graft on the guildhall land for the Simic Guild, but they thought it was too weird when you played with that land in non-Simic decks, because you get the graft for free without even having to pay Simic mana.
Perhaps it would make more sense now that we're out of the constraints of guild-influenced deckbuilding. I, for one, would love to see a graft land.
Let the speculation begin on what the other three lands hold... oh, I guess I'll give y'all a clue: One of them has an ability which has never ever been on a non-creature card before...
Enjoy.
Well so far the 2 lands have both held mechanics from ravnica block...Assuming they keep the trend through out the cycle....
Incredible solid, I believe that this will be a 2-4 of in every heavy red(IE mono red or 2/3 red deck). The late game power of this card is considerable and it gives red a way to deal with Soltari Priest and get around COP:red and Story Circle.
As for the other land with a creature only ability its probably the already rumoured morph land.
Yeah its good but I can see aggro hating a hand with 2 of these and a nuts hand otherwise. Sure if they only run 2 copies then its not gonna happen a lot.
CIPT with no workaround really sucks for an aggro deck attempting to maximize mana for there beats in the first 3-4 turns.

Rav
Dredge - been on non-creatures (Moldervine Cloak)
Transmute - already one of the 5
Radiance - (Brightflame)
Convoke - (Scatter the Seeds)
GP
Bloodthirst - doesn't make sense
Haunt - (Cry of Contrition)
Replicate - (all were non-creature)
DS
Graft - good possibility
Hellbent - already one of the 5

You dont have two rav abilities and one non-rav in a cycle. Then its just lands that do stuff.

Well so far the 2 lands have both held mechanics from ravnica block...Assuming they keep the trend through out the cycle....
So lets go over this
dimir - transmute
boros - radiance
selesenya - convoke
golgari - dredge
orzhov - haunt
izzet - replicate
gruul - bloodthirst
azorious - forecast
rakdos - hellbent
simic - graft
So we can cross off hellbent and transmute...
Leaving us with:
Green - dredge, convoke, bloodthirst, graft
Black - dredge, haunt
White - haunt, forecast, convoke, radiance
Most likely black will be haunt?
Green will be Dredge?
White will be radiance or forecast?
EDIT: Oh wow I am a noob
