The guy obviously knows that he has something that's shady since he says, "Don't ask me how, but I bought a small Magic collection from a guy, and he had these mixed in there." Good credible story there. Strike 1.
Also, the picture is too zoomed out to be useful for any details. We are supposed to use our imaginations here. Strike 2.
Why doesn't he list all or more of the cards instead of just two with easily guessed names? Strike 3.
And who crops their photos at 400x195? When he posts pics of individual cards or types up full texts, then I'll believe this is real.
he says, "Don't ask me how, but I bought a small Magic collection from a guy, and he had these mixed in there."
I agree. No collection is gonna just randomly include a bunch of unreleased cards. Then again, if he got them by opening packs that came off the back of a truck from Mexico, would he say that?
Also, the picture is too zoomed out to be useful for any details. We are supposed to use our imaginations here.
To be fair, eBay resizes all pics to the same small blurry state. Very annoying, but true.
EDIT:
The seller has used the eBay system to answer a question someone sent in. You can see it in the auction itself. Here's what was asked, and what he answered:

Q: Are these cards real legal MTG cards?
Sep-08-06
A: As near as I can tell these are real MTG cards. I have tens of thousands of cards and these are the same stock, same quality, etc. As far as being legal, I'm sure they WON'T be legal until the set officially releases.
The johnny within me hopes these will be T2/Extended legal, but logic tells me they probably won't be. Still, I will hold out and have hope!

"One skilled at battle takes a stand in the ground of no defeat
And so does not lose the enemy's defeat.
Therefore, the victorious military is first victorious and after that does battle.
The defeated military first does battle and after that seeks victory."
The biggest strike against that image, to me, is that every single text box on every single card is full to the brim, and in a small font no less. R&D often extolls the virtues of simplicity and elegance in design, and what we are seeing in that image is a fairly large pool of cards that, though unidentifiable, can be identified as being quite complex, or at the very least having excessively long flavor text-- something Creative is not very keen on as of late. I mean, look at it-- the cards with brief rules text have at minimum three lines of flavor text.
Every single card is chock full of words and without white space, and to me this is suspicious.
Many people prefer the old border. I'm old-school (since FE) and I went out of my way to get foil 7th Aladdin's Rings over the easier to get 8th and 9th.
As for playability in limited. They would have to be unless they are a bonus card in a booster/starter. Otherwise it would affect your card pool. Limited is ruled by commons and uncommons more than bomb rares.
Yeah they don't do that, Jaya and overseer and mishra have tons of white space.
I love how you took two cards that were previewed to dispute this fact, almost as if you are too oblivious to realize that those cards were previewed because of the fact they featured interesting and unique (and, consequently wordy) abilities!
Yeah they don't do that, Jaya and overseer and mishra have tons of white space.:rolleyes2:
Well, upon closer look, he is right about the full boxes, but I do not think that it disproves anything. A spell with an ability has the ability with reminder text, the card's ability and the flavor text. That fits
BTW, it seems that at Word of Seizing, we can see a glorious return of one-word flavor text, if I am not mistaken.

Charr, please dont pretend you speak for everyone. Most people that I've talked to prefer the old boarders to the new ones by far.
You know, I actually stopped playing Magic after Scourge. I thought changing a good thing was rediculous. I started to miss this silly game and came back to it for the Betrayers pre-release. Still thought the borders were silly. But as time passed, I started to understand the new borders and appreciate them. All the "BS" they through at us actually made sense. I could actually read the card from across the table among other things. I really do like the new borders. I would have loved to see the old cards in the new borders. As for the TS gimmick, I can understand the old borders. It does give a nostalgic feel to them, but I must begrudgingly say that, if WTC changed the borders for a 'Superior' design...Why in Gawd's Green Earth would you then bring back an inferior design (by their logic)?
I so love to hate this game.....or do I hate to love it? Either way, my money still goes there.

All I have to say is if there's gonna be cards like Mindless Automaton as bonuses I wouldn't be worried the least about them being legal in t2, I mean it's not like they're reprinting Tinker or Tolarian Academy... In fact, at this point I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that they will be legal in every format Time Spiral will be.
LIGHTNING EDIT: As for the old vs. new card face, I couldn't care less. The card will do the same thing whether it's pretty or not. It will also make it easier to play it along with any of the old copies. I mean, if it's supposed to be the same card, then why would it need to look any different? The logo is already a giveaway that it's a reprint.
EDIT #2: Am I the only one noticing the very careful release of images and material by WoTC about this set? So far we have seen very few cards that didn't have art we already knew (which I noticed the most), I think they're really trying to crack down and planning carefully what to show and what to not show.
Ancestral Recall (3X), Balance (5X), Battle of Wits (2X), Black Lotus (3X), Black Vise (5X), Bribery (2X), Bronze Tablet (2X), Buried Alive (2X), Channel (5X), Chaos Orb (3X), Contract from Below (4X), Darkpact (4X), Demonic Attorney (4X), Demonic Tutor (4X), Diabolic Tutor (3X), Engineered Plague (2X), Enlightened Tutor (2X), Fastbond (4X), Goblin Recruiter (2X), Illusionary Mask (3X), Jeweled Bird (2X), Land Tax (3X), Mana Vault (6X), Mind Twist (5X), all Moxen 3X - only Mox Diamond (1X), Mystical Tutor (2X), Rebirth (2X), Regrowth (4X), Sol Ring (4X), Strip Mine (5X), Tempest Efreet (2X), Time Walk (3X), Timetwister (3X), Vampiric Tutor (2X), Wheel of Fortune (4X), and Windfall (2X).
The multiple instances refer to the different printings: Ancestral was in Alpha, Beta, Unlimited; Enlightened Tutor was in Mirage and 6th; Strip Mine had 4 different arts in Antiquities, and was in 4th...
woo, mubch better. one reason why it doesnt look like preacher - you can CLEARLY see that the black part on the bottom card cuts off at the edge of the frame. preacher, however, has a fully visible shoulder that seems to be a fraction of a millimeter off of the edge. woo for moat
Goddamn, they HAD to be in the ****ty old border. :/ oh well, i hope they aren't t2 legal - i CANT mix frames :'(

-THIS IS JUST A LIST- Stax, Sapphire Tri, Set Abominae, {mikeyG}, nan, glurman, JollyTheOctopuss, Sakura, Mad Mat, Johnation, Cell, Goatchunx, VerzenChaos, DarkPhoenix, EvilDuck, echelon_house
By the way, there are "71 different cards - 52 commons, 10 uncommons, 2 rares, and 7 of the new "purple symbol" reprint cards" according to the auction listing. What kind of distribution would result in numbers like those?
I'd also like to say these are almost assuredly real. Look at his feedback ratio. I doubt he'd risk anything on photoshopped cards....
If the auction is real or remotely possibly real, it will be taken down by WotC. If it isn't real, he can still take it down himself later without the possibility of getting bad feedback.
Absolutely T2 legal. Type 2 is more important to Wizards than all other Constructed formats put together. Plus, any card with a TS symbol is considered legal in every format TS is legal in. Stop suggesting anything different.
You decide..

The word is "gypped." You should spell your ethnic slurs correctly. Otherwise, you just look ignorant.
True, it is useful in both guilds.

Yeah! How about... "Mine."
(or has that one been done?)
EDIT: Cannibalize used it. That was a fun card.

Yeah, on Cannibalize. That was my first thought too. It's so perfect though, they might use it again?

I still prefer the old, especially for artifacts.
None of the rumored reprints are on the list as far as I know. It isn't likely this is related.

Oh boy, that's the first one I'm inclined to believe, BUT, I would think that the seller would have mentioned a reprint as cool as that.
