The same source thought it'd be a good idea to give us another batch of filler. Enjoy.
Gleancrawler - :3mana::symbg::symbg::symbg:
Creature - Insect Horror (R)
Trample
At the end of your turn, return to your hand all creature cards put into your graveyard from play this turn.
6/6
Costs more than a Spiritmonger, and that changed colours and got +1/+1 counters, so there's no room for something like this. Guida mana rocks, and this has cool flavour though... to "glean" is to gather - in this case, the dead. But that ability is pretty bad - Raise Dead never sees play. This should have been uncommon at most.
Bloodletter Quill - 3
Artifact (R) 2, :symtap:, Put a blood counter on Bloodletter Quill: Draw a card, then lose 1 life for each blood counter on Bloodletter Quill. 1UB: Remove a blood counter from Bloodletter Quill.
I'd rather just play Jayemdae Tome and not have to risk losing any life. Once you pay yourself down to 0, you're dead, and your opponent is going to laugh right in your face. "You killed yourself, stupid, you're dead! HAHAHAHA!" I can just hear it. No thank you!
Hour of Reckoning - 4WWW
Sorcery (R)
Convoke (Each creature you tap while playing this spell reduces its cost by or by one mana of that creature's color.)
Destroy all nontoken creatures.
Meh. For 7 mana, this should say "you win". But it doesn't, because what happens if your opponent has a token creature, or a Rukh Egg, or a Will-o'-the-Wisp? Then you're hooped. And Convoke doesn't help this at all... why would you have any creatures to tap, if you're planning on wrathing? The only deck this is good in is a deck that plays with tokens, and nobody would bother to do that. Tokens are mostly small and small equals bad.
Recollect - 2G
Sorcery (U)
Return target card from your graveyard to your hand.
Not as good as Regrowth or Eternal Witness, therefore unplayable. Should be common like Elven Cache because just for being splashable and cheaper doesn't mean it's playable. Dredge may work well with it, but that's a block mechanic so this might see a little play in a few block decks, that's it. And such an elegant name and wording makes it seem like a 10th edition plant. Lastly, it's worded incorrectly.
Phytohydra - 2GWW
Creature - Plant Hydra (R)
If damage would be dealt to Phytohydra, put that many +1/+1 counters on it instead.
1/1
The flavour is kinda cool, but this dies to Petrefy, Terminate, and Counterspell. No thanks!
Sorry about this latest batch, kids. Thanks to the source anyway - at least it helps fill in the partial spoiler. :slant:
I don't think they are that bad. Gleamcrawler could be good sometimes, and it is fun in casual. Bloodletter Quill sucks. Hour of Reckoning is meant to be used with saprolings, and that is why you have so many creatures. It is he mandatory wrath-effect. Recollect, eh. Phytohydra is very cool though. Very fun. Anyway, my two cents
I could see the Phytohydra in Celesnya decks as a sideboard vs decks that can only kill stuff via direct damage, like many red decks, WWr and the like.
I wish the Regrowth variant was an instant, but as is I don't think it's bad. I'm very glad it's not as blatantly overpowered as Eternal Witness is.
Not too much a fan of the Wrath of God variant, though I guess its convoke ability has use in limited.
I like Gleancrawler, it combos nicely with Sakura-Tribe Elder and other self-sacrifice creatures such as the new "Sac me to put a +1/+1 counter on a creature" (which escapes me at the moment.)
I can't believe people are still being fooled by R_E's statement that these cards are crap. He was kidding! Phytohydra is the only one that isn't really Constructed-worthy, but even it is quite cool and very good in Limited.
Gleancrawler? Hello, Nantuko Husk et al. and Grave Pact. And, of course, it's a mono-black 6/6 trampler for 6. That alone is worthy of note.
Bloodletter Quill? White Weenie has good card draw, finally. The life loss is negligible until you get to the fourth card, by which point the game is nearly over, anyway.
Hour of Reckoning? A very good Convoke spell, highly playable with token generators like Selensya Guildmage, Fists of Ironwood and the Convoke Saproling-generating spell. Of course, we've yet to see if there will be even better token generators.
The same source thought it'd be a good idea to give us another batch of filler. Enjoy.

Honestly, is R_E being sarcastic? With the exception of Recollect, all of these cards look awesome. Am I missing something? With the convoke mechanic, Hour of Reckoning is just a cheaper Wrath of God. A cheaper wrath of god means more mana to play creatures after the spell resolves. Gleancrawler??? A 6/6 Trampler for 6 with no drawback? Filler? Am I reading this wrong?
Edit: Okay, so it looks like everyone else's already figured out he was kidding... Joke's on me.
No, you weren't reading the thread, though. It's been stated several times (like, a lot of times, really) that Rancored was being sarcastic. A simple skim of the thread would have informed you of that.
Sheesh, people need to get their sarcasm detectors checked ....
hey, i dont post very often, but i read the mill everyday... love rumor season... have to say, very pleased with the new set, as of yet, esp the black cards....
surprised no one mentioned how this glean dude is just redikulus with 2 dragons(keiga, koko, josie)... although by the time ya got em all, you should be in pretty good position to win right?
People, I apologize for trying to be funny. My sense of humour is very, very dry and sarcastic. Once again: I like ALL of these cards. The Quill is the only one I personally probably won't use, but I still think it has applications in certain decks.

Bloodletter Quill? White Weenie has good card draw, finally. The life loss is negligible until you get to the fourth card, by which point the game is nearly over, anyway.
So if you're only using it to get three cards, why are you using it? That's a net gain of 2 cards. Who in their right mind would pay :9mana:, 6 life, and 3 turns to draw 2 cards? In an aggro weenie deck?
Bloodletter Quill - the tome - is somewhat fun. All of the abilities are used as an instant, and in a control deck, you can draw cards when you're hardpressed, and remove counters when you have excess mana. However, even only 1 life per card is probably too much for it to see play.
1 life per card is a bad deal? Quick, burn Necropotence!
If you could only activate necropotence once a turn it would be--phyrexian arena. This is phyrexian arena--but with 3UB attached. Alternatively, it is an out of control kill yourself in 4 turns arena, but it still has the cost attached. There are many things i'd rather play than this in pretty much any deck. Like, oh, say, one of those cards I want to draw.
So if you're only using it to get three cards, why are you using it? That's a net gain of 2 cards. Who in their right mind would pay :9mana:, 6 life, and 3 turns to draw 2 cards? In an aggro weenie deck?
Necropotence shuts off your draw phase from what I remember. It was broken because you paid 7 life and filled your hand and generally won off that b/c of the insane card advantage.
The Quill is the only really bad rare I've seen so far.
Originally I thought you also drew cards equal to the number of blood counters on it, so you were sacrificing more for cards each time you used it. If that were the case, it would have been a good, skill-testing card. As it is it is just crap.
EDIT: The reason I thought that is because it says "draw one card then lose one life for each blood counter on Blood Quill," that made it seem like the abilities were linked.

WotC: you should've kept the same team that designed Ravnica - they had some sense of creativity. The Guildpact team appears to have the combined resourcefulness of three baboons, a plunger, and a broken coconut. Go team!
You can make some sick rav reanimation (porbably cas until somebreaks it) with the first card the b/g Girl who make oppoenents sack for black creatures and you gain 2 life for green creatures, and the g/b guildmage. Now all you need is a few green or black creatures for some hella fun.

RnD during Time Spiral:
Rosewater: "Color Pie, WTF is that, If I want Black to be able to wrath, counter and have green creatures then I will damnit!"
Random RnD guy: "RED AKORMA! FTW!"
Gleemax: "Rosewater has broken out of my mind control!"
RnD after 2008:
MaRo: Hmm how do we fix the problems of pricing with cards like Tarmogoyf and Thoughtsieze
Random RnD Guy: OO lets make a new RED RARITY SYMBOL!
MARO: OMGWTFBBQ! Thats a great idea, we'll call it Mythic Rarity!
Gleemax: NOT AGAIN! CELEB
Okay, yes, the Necropotence comparison was an exaggeration, but honestly I could see just paying the life to draw to be worth it in certain aggro decks, or in tandem with good lifegain like Exalted Angel. Loxodon Warhammer is still in the format, due to 9th, so you can't rule that out either.
Not too bad with bounce, either. Particularly Blood Clock - paying 5 to draw a card is not exactly horrible in some colours - and still cheaper than Whispers of the Muse, which did see play. A lot.

Whispers was A. An instant.

this has no similarities, especialy not in a combo with blood clock.

I love Joboman, Poggy, Niv, and Vezok, because, while they may not be the best players, they still try to win. Having fun is the most important thing to a game, but I've learned that if you don't try to win, then you're ruining everyone else's fun.
Gleancrawler- a 6/6 trampler for 6 which allows me to reuse my sakura-tribe elder etc. effects every turn, sign me up.
Bloodletter Quill- not fantastic even if you are in UB, still reusable card drawing is always useful.
Hour of Reckoning- Expensive block wrath variant, could be good in some sort of token heavy convoke based deck.
Recollect- it may cost 1 more than regrowth and not be even close to an eternal witness but regrowth effects are useful, especially with gifts ungiven still in standard(Gifts for Reclaim, This and 2 other cards = super tutor).
Phytohydra- weird, i thought that hydra's were typically red, its limited playable since it survives combat damage and burn and keeps growing, not a standard viable card though since non burn targetted removal, counters etc. make it much worse.
Gotta disagree. GLEANCRAWLER and PHYTOHYDRA will definitely go into decks, and I would not hesitate to grab the Crawler in any draft. The Hydra is just begging to be abused... too bad Darksteel Colossus is rotating out. ;-) Hydra is the perfect answer to T&N decks.
Colossus? No prob. Block. Ooops - your Colossus is tapped and suddenly I have a 12/12 plant... hmm, should I attack?

I think pythohydra would make a great sideboard card. If you arent playing against black or red, It could be a serious threat. It would absolutely demolish mono-green T&N decks. I might pick it up if it's cheap enough. Gleancrawler is a cool addition to Black bidding decks (i.e Goblins). Being black/green, it would be cool to pair up with a sakura-tribe elder, and like somebody said, the 5 stars.
That's right, I knew that was why he lost the life, but I forgot it didn't deal the damage either. Sorry letterhead:-):-):-)
No worries.
Anyway, on the topic, I am impressed by this card, and will be running it with Wildfire in a G/W/R control deck.
Unfortunately, that, pyroclasm, and Bloodfire Colossus are the only advantageous methods of dealing it damage that I can think of, are there any others?

Gleancrawler: Daaaaaaaaaaaaaang. You guys realize this is hitting turn 4 in G/B, right? Play it after your Plague boiler pops
Bloodletter Quill: Heh, I played Serum tank in my Broodstar deck for a while. Great if you're not in U or B, ironically.
Hour of Reckoning: The card that may "break" Promise of Bunrei? Maybe token.dec is playable after all.
Recollect: It's not like Slide needed Witnesses 5-8 or anything Anybody who thinks this won't be played in Standard needs to buy this bridge I recently acquired...
Phytohydra: Red's worst nightmare. Spirit Link for added suffering. Or the rediculous Pariah. Makes an Infinite/Infinite with Meph/Trisk Kiki-Jiki it to do Infinity X 2 damage. Watch out for Chastise Black looks at it funny and then smites it though.
