Gleancrawler -
Creature - Insect Horror (R)
Trample
At the end of your turn, return to your hand all creature cards put into your graveyard from play this turn.
6/6
Costs more than a Spiritmonger, and that changed colours and got +1/+1 counters, so there's no room for something like this. Guida mana rocks, and this has cool flavour though... to "glean" is to gather - in this case, the dead. But that ability is pretty bad - Raise Dead never sees play. This should have been uncommon at most.
Bloodletter Quill - 3
Artifact (R) 2, :symtap:, Put a blood counter on Bloodletter Quill: Draw a card, then lose 1 life for each blood counter on Bloodletter Quill. 1UB: Remove a blood counter from Bloodletter Quill.
I'd rather just play Jayemdae Tome and not have to risk losing any life. Once you pay yourself down to 0, you're dead, and your opponent is going to laugh right in your face. "You killed yourself, stupid, you're dead! HAHAHAHA!" I can just hear it. No thank you!
Hour of Reckoning - 4WWW
Sorcery (R)
Convoke (Each creature you tap while playing this spell reduces its cost by or by one mana of that creature's color.)
Destroy all nontoken creatures.
Meh. For 7 mana, this should say "you win". But it doesn't, because what happens if your opponent has a token creature, or a Rukh Egg, or a Will-o'-the-Wisp? Then you're hooped. And Convoke doesn't help this at all... why would you have any creatures to tap, if you're planning on wrathing? The only deck this is good in is a deck that plays with tokens, and nobody would bother to do that. Tokens are mostly small and small equals bad.
Recollect - 2G
Sorcery (U)
Return target card from your graveyard to your hand.
Not as good as Regrowth or Eternal Witness, therefore unplayable. Should be common like Elven Cache because just for being splashable and cheaper doesn't mean it's playable. Dredge may work well with it, but that's a block mechanic so this might see a little play in a few block decks, that's it. And such an elegant name and wording makes it seem like a 10th edition plant. Lastly, it's worded incorrectly.
Phytohydra - 2GWW
Creature - Plant Hydra (R)
If damage would be dealt to Phytohydra, put that many +1/+1 counters on it instead.
1/1
The flavour is kinda cool, but this dies to Petrefy, Terminate, and Counterspell. No thanks!
Sorry about this latest batch, kids. Thanks to the source anyway - at least it helps fill in the partial spoiler. :slant:
I'm sorry, but did I miss something about Recollect? It's :1: more than Regrowth; other than that, they're identical... What's the deal?

Wow, great sarcasm, all of these cards are GREAT! The wrath could be part of a deck that abuses tokens, and with tokens you could get this to cost very little. The 1 mana more regrowth is crazy and will make extended rediculous with 8 3cc regrowths. Bloodletter quill is INCREIBLE, that thing will get amazing card advantage for very little mana commitment. Because it doesn't require the 1UB mana cost this should be every white deck's card advantage of choice. WAY better that Jayemdai (sp?) Tome The only "filler card" is phytohydra, which is either a good blocker or a ferropede, but can get better vs aggro decks.

In a block with plenty of tokens, this could have been good - if only the cost has been lower. Nice name, though.
EDIT: Meh, I have broken the RTFC rule. nontoken, not token. So, with convoke, this can be a cheap Wrath...not so bad.

I love the name and flavor, but this is probably the only thing I can like about this card. Vulnerable to non-damage killers...
It's not that bad, they just need some Johnny power. the first creature is pretty good IMO with gravepact or something like that. And that hydra could've been nice in damage deck, like wildfire and the like, its only a 1/1 so most players won't bother killing them.
I have to disagree with you Gleancrawler is very useful. In green or black, you're lucky to get a vanilla 5/5 at 6 mana and this being a 6/6 trampler with a mediocre, if occasionally useful ability makes it the cream of this pathetic crop.
Bloodletter Quill is the next best, but not great.
What's impressing me the most about this set isn't the power level, but how well designed the individual cards seem and how well they fit together to build the set as a whole. *insert Ravnica related catchphrase here*
Thanks R_E and the source of this info! Monday morning is always good when new cards are about!
I dunno, it's rare for us to get a 6/6 trample for 6 these days, and especially one that can be cast with combinations of Black and/or Green mana. Gleanwalker isn't a bad card, it's just that there's prolly more efficient creatures to play instead in cheaper slots... it's still nice!
The rest are... well... kinda o.k, and as Rancored said, at least we're filling up the holes in the spoiler with this info, and that's always good!
Glean crwaler seems ot be some osrt of combo piece. The abiulity to reuse any sacrifice affect multiple times seems to be good.
Oops didnt se it only goign back to your hand part i read it as a one sided lifeline typ effect.
The hour of reckoning seems liek it could be a 1 sided wrath although its probably not worth it to try to make a deck to use this.
Recollect so regrowth plus 1 more colorless mana is not broken. Also this only has a single green meana in its casting cost rather then eternal witness double green.
the phytohydra is jsut one of those wird card that wont see play in naywhere but casual.
I like Hour of Reckoning....Green gets saprolings, G/W = guild, convoke plus vigilance...I'm pretty sure you were being sarcastic on some of the cards, but whatever. The synergy of some of the cards is pretty nifty, even if they never get used in competitive play.

This really isn't all that bad. A 6/6 trampler for six isn't a bad deal, and its ability is very interesting. My first thought was using it along with some of the Urza's Block's echo and in-play cycling guys. Even in T2, green and black creatures are going to be getting sacrificed left, right and centre. This puts them all back in your hand. Really not horrible at all.
Useful for Dimir players who desperately need extra draw, but I like it better for Selesnya, actually. Green and White are usually low on draw, and high on life gain. Only for limited, more than likely. But artifact draw is usually useful. The Quill might just be, depending on the archetypes that spring up. Some might need a mid-game refuel.
Hour of Reckoning - 4WWW
Sorcery (R)
Convoke (Each creature you tap while playing this spell reduces its cost by or by one mana of that creature's color.)
Destroy all nontoken creatures.
I like to see this as a big emergency button if you're low on guys and your opponent has more. Tap your guys, lower this to 2WW or less, and sweep the board. The nontoken clause is merely an added bonus for Selesnya players. I've seen worse wrath variants.
Recollect - 2G
Sorcery (U)
Return target card from your graveyard to your hand.
Utility, straight up. Though, since it'll be hard to recur it, I doubt it'll see a ton of play.
Phytohydra - 2GWW

Interesting little guy. Any damage done to it makes it bigger. I almost don't care that it's a 1/1 for five, my inner Johnny is screaming to break it. Very interesting. Slap a Pariah on it and go to town.
All in all, these cards aren't too shabby. I like a lot of what Ravnica has to offer, though I admit I was skeptical at first.
All of these cards are ok or very good. Look at how RE wrote his post, he is obviously being sarcastic. Bloodletter Quill is incredible, think about it, it's activation costs half as much as jayemdai's meaning you can draw an extra card every turn with a life requirement and still have the ability to cast spells. All good.
I hate to disagree with R_E, but these cards are much better than he says
The first is like a monger-stregth creature, but also infinitely recurs all of your other dudes.
The quill is only alright, but can provide a lot of card advantage.
Hour of Reckoning is outstanding, you play it in a sap-token convoke deck to drop it for very cheap and keep all of your saproling tokens.
The regrowth is also outstanding. Sure, it costs one more than regrowth, but regrowth is restrict-worthy in vintage, so I'm sure this will see play. Sure, it can't be bounced or flickered for reuse like witness, nor can it chump block or carry equipment, but it still lets you regrowth cards at a very reasonable price.
The Phytohydra is, while not outstanding, very useful, especially in limited. It chumps endlessly and grows to an outrageous size, and with stuff like wildfire you can make it grow yourself.

{mikeyG} - some very good thinking about the Bloodletter Quill! GW could love this, especially with the super-Loxodon that was 4/4 for 2GW and gained you 4 life! Add some more lifegain and it may even be playable there.
You wouldn't want to use it too much, the life loss would eventually be too much for a card, but drawing three cards for 6 life isn't too bad. Eventually it wouldn't even be worth it in life gain-dedicated decks. But in a Limited deck with a bit of gain (via Spirit Link creatures or such), the Quill would keep the deck from losing too much steam later in the game.
Bloodletter Quill is great with Chisei, Heart of Oceans, removing the counters every upkeep, ...still I'm not sure what I'm doing playing two subpar cards and trying to make a combo out of it! ;).
All of these cards are ok or very good. Look at how RE wrote his post, he is obviously being sarcastic.
I agree with you on both statements!
I think these are some of my favourite cards in the set. Gleancrawler is BETTER than Spiritmonger in some cases - hugely splashable! Works amazingly in monogreen with Greater Good or in monoblack as a 6/6 trample for 6 (unheard of), or in Golgari decks that sacrifice everything constantly.
The Quill isn't my kind of card but I can appreciate the power. That's cheap card drawing for control decks right there.
Hour of Reckoning (maybe we should call it hour of wreckoning?) is abusable. Just two Raise the Alarms lets you clean off everything ELSE for :symw:.
Recollect is more than a card considered broken and restricted for a long time, and this block can abuse regrowth effects. Slightly less powerful than Witness because you can't attack or block with it, but more splashable. Very solid.
Phytohydra - too bad you couldn't find a way to come up with one red mana to set off an Earthquake for 6 or 7 before the attack. How about Lure...
I have decks that want all these cards except the Quill, although that's just because I don't play much :symub:.
These are great! The hour of reckoning is great for saproling decks, the giant bug is a great golgari card, and that hydra is so cool! I have to build a deck around it. Okay, so the quill is too complicated, but still, maybe last batch was filler but this sure isn't!
I don't know if anyone's posted this idea but is there a combo with the wraith spell and loxodon heirarch? with 7 creatures you tap all of tehm to convoke teh spell then pay fro and sac teh heirarch to regen all your creatures. kind of a late game thing, buit it should work as a win condition
EDIT>>> *reads top of page* apparently someone already posted this idea. my bad.
Delete this if this has already been mentioned, but on Bloodletter Quill, since putting the blood counter is part of the cost rather than the ability, you can activate the second ability in response and remove the counter before any life is lost, this making it: 3UB, :symtap:: Draw a card.
The same source thought it'd be a good idea to give us another batch of filler. Enjoy.

Bloodletter Quill - Disappointing for the Dimir friendly artifact, although it is easier to manage than Scroll of Origins.
Hour of Reckoning - Barring you already having an army of Saprolings out, just a really bad Wrath.
Recollect - generic recursion.
Phytohydra - Not enough of a threat to give it opportunity to grow, and it's expensive for a 1/1.

A guildmana fattie. Sweet. With some dredge cards with sac effects, this is a godsend, because now you don't have to dredge them.
The new regrowth is quite nice. I always found Elven Cache or its rare 2 fer version in invasion to be useful. I will find this card useful too.
We got our Wrath variant. In the right kind of deck, rediculously good. This basically is meant to clear the path for your saprolings FTW.
The hydra is, as all hyrdas seem to be...a card you WANT to make beefy.
I don't know how easy that will be though.
