It probably reminds you of The White City of Gondor(can't remember the name), what with the spires and the marble and the It's a bloody city like Ravnica!!!!
*cough* [awkward silence after the outburst]
Yes, though, it is very LotR-esque. The Island reminds me of Gollum's cave.
Minas Tirth (if I spelled it right) I love these lands... I have 1 question though, is the island looking thing we have art for another island or the same?.... they look the same to me.
Personally I really love them. Not the "best basic land ever" or anything, but certainly pretty.
I also love the little details on the images, like the boats in the channels, the little floating things everywhere, and little statues, windows, and the other little details that make the images just look really complex and involved. Cities tend to be anything but tranquil, and I like how the art reflects how complex the terrain really is.
This lands are awesome! I can't wait to see the other basic lands, along with the other 9 dual lands!:)
The island has enough water to be an island, but that plains is out of place...
Now that I think about, Mirrodin didn't really have true plains either, just metal hills.

Agreed, although it's possible 6 of those 9 duals aren't going to be seen until the next two sets have been released, based on our 4/3/3 Guild theory.
I've heard too many conflicting stories on whether or not we're going to see the full assortment of 'Belands' in Rav to say that we're definetly going to see them one way or the other.
Here's hoping for some confirmation on this either way soon!
I haven't seen anyone really mention something that I think is worth bringing up in the speculation thread. This is the first time I've seen the land art as a single piece of art as opposed to a mural of four arts together. The one piece of artwork for both is placed onto the card in its entirety.
I'll continue in the speculation thread.

Odd thing after looking at the posts here so far... I actually like the Island more than the Plains. In fact I think the Island is WAYYY more Island-like than the Plains (altho I understand now how each fits with its land type). Very good arts and definitely worth a "GOGO Ravnica !!!"
The plains is absolutely gorgeous. The island... well, rather Meh. I'll stick with my Kamigawa islands.

anyone else remmeber these from that thread awhile back ? they all look very nice in my opinion..... edit: last pic looks like part of the island picture only darker.....
Kamigawa islands are lame. Kamigawa forest and mountains on the other hand are, well...the best lands since Urza Block!:)

well we have certainly come a long way from having the plains art just be a picture of a plains havent we? lol..
i kinda like the art however.. it will be very interesting to see what the other 3 look like (i doubt there are many forests for example..) i guess if the whole area is city, there arent going to be any forests or swamps.. maybe some mountains, but maybe all of the land art will be pictures of their part of the city.. i guess it shows that RAV is definately different then other sets, thats for sure...

Remember that Temple Garden has a guild symbol on it, and therefore, so will the others; so probably R_E is right on this one, ....as always...

Well, actually, my very favorite lands are Mirage's Plains, followed closely by Urza's Plains (too bad I'll never find foily versions of either ). Urza's Saga and Invasion's Islands are some of the very best land art I've seen.

Bah and Fie to you all - I am particularly particular about my lands (being a supersticious blue mage) and try to have land out of as many different sets as possible.
Best islands ever are in saga. Sorry - no competition. Ice age islands are verry good (I wish I could use snow covered islands in type 2....) However - this is probabally the 2nd or 3rd best island, ever. I really like the amount of detail.
BTW - These are going in the type 1 decks, next to the beta islands and the snow covered islands. WooT!

I'm also very particular about which lands go on which decks... To the point that some of the regulars in my playgroup can easily identify which deck I'm playing by the first or second land drop (Urza's Saga Island guys... it's that Cloud of Faeries/Snap/Mind's Desire Deck again )

Ice Age islands, soo pretty. I just got 3 of those. And I wonder, there is only one, ugly, snow-covered island. Yet my I.A. islands are all frozen over. Was there art origionally slated for snow-covered lands?

My favourite basic land of all time is "Party Island" which is the John Avon island with the palm trees shooting up in every random direction, from Invasion. You may notice I have several foil Islands from 9th edition on my site, but none of that one... I'm hoarding it! So yummy! Mmmmm!
[/dork]
Here are the attached lands, separate this time so I can link to them for the partial spoiler.
It might have been cool if each of the basic lands tilted a little towards each of the 4 color pairs that each color is part of. But that plains doesn't seem to be leaning toward any other color, so.... oh well...

Anyway, yeah...I like Kamigawa's better on both counts, but I still used the Island art for my new wallpaper. Pretty.@_@
