If wal-mart wasn't an evil company I would go buy some precons and give you guys the deck lists but as the saying goes "friends don't let friends shop at wal-mart". I refuse to buy anything from wal-mart and many of the posters in this thread have already given some good causes as to why.
Like forcing their workers to stayed after hors and work overtime for NOTHING, and be threatened to be fired, if not done?
Quote from Annorax »
It's safe to buy from Walmart, ONLY before the release date, since their contracts with their suppliers specify that they have to pay a $10 penalty for each item sold before the release date.
Im pretty sure thats how it works. My friend works there and he said something similar to that last year around Mirrodin release or whatever set it was..
Maybe you'll get Archenemy cards in your Duel Decks From The Vault: Deck Builder's Toolkit All-Foil Duels of the Planeswalkers Downloadable Content Expansion (Tactics Edition).
I just ran around the corner to the Wal-mart in North Augusta, SC, and they had none. They only had those packs of 8th that come hanging seperately in those cardboard packages. There are three other Wal-mart's in my area, but I don't feel like driving to the two somewhat close ones b/c they are still thirty minutes away and my gf is cooking lasagna for me. I was only going to buy once Annorax said the 10$ per thing, as a way of hitting them back Plus it'd be nice to go into work tomorrow with some, and to help you guys with a list of stuff in precons. Might go tomorrow before work.

Talk about an abuse of power. I don’t know numbers, but I bet Hasbro wouldn’t want to lose Walmart as a reseller, so they’re not inclined to litigate this, even if it explicitly breaches their contract. The losers in this situation are the independent comic stores a.k.a. “little guys” who ARE intimidated by the threat of lawsuits. Why wait a week to go to them when you can go to Walmart now? I hope this is a local mistake, but if it is widespread, I hope Walmart pays for this bully tactic.
I don't really think Hasbro will care all that much about a set of Magic cards that includes only reprints getting sold early. I mean, this weekend's events are just "Release Events," not Prereleases, and the release of 9th is just not that big of a deal. Walmart sucks for a lot of reasons, but I would definitely bet that the 9th cards they received were not heavily secured like the Potter books, and I'd guess they sold them by mistake.
damn. now, if selling my soul to the devil = buying stuff from wal-mart, what am i supposed to do? i'd like to give advance notice... but i don't even know if they have it there. and it's not like i have money anyway.
and that looks like a sickening abuse of power to me. wal-mart always does this kind of crap, and that's why it deserves to die in court. the trouble is, no one in the world gives a damn for the poor workers, and we keep buying crap from them 'cause it's cheap. sure, we make a lot of noise, but in the end we all just end up joining the evil, easy side.
come to think of it, America really is deeply into the Dark Side.

i'm going to my store on saturday, big sale. i have to think it's worth more to go there and let some other guy give you the spoiler for the "all-important" precons. all i know is, nothing looks spectacular based on the product images. anyway, wish you guys luck on cheating the system.
Damn... mexican Wal-Marts dont sell Magic. They barely sell Yugi-Oh and at super-high prices.
* about the "sell before time" scandal going on here:
Here in Mexico, with no really tough regulations of MTG, they sell the product whenever it arrives, that means we have the product (most of the times only in spanish) sometimes as early as 1 week before the prerelease.
And I dont know how it happens in US, but here, we get the "mass" product the next day after the prerelease. The only problem is the high cost of all the products, not only in that time, but always. You dont get a "legal" booster for less than 3.5 - 4 dollars (legal means that the export was approved by WOTC)
That's the same price as in the US, Lestat. The retail price of a new pack is $3.69 plus tax (which in CT brngs it to $3.91).
Well, you see... its difficult to explain.
Most of the salaries here are considerably lower than the average US salary... a lot of people here EAT with 3-4 dollars a day (in fact the "minimum wage" is 4-5 dollars a day). I'm not saying all of Mexico is in poverty, because the life here is cheap (in contrast, American products are expensive, such as MTG), but to the average medium-class mexican (as me) 4 dollars is a little bit expensive.
A little off-topic.... just explaining

The giant card looks very weird :
- the right border isn't straight.
- the angle in which the card lies on the box seems off : the picture is straight front to the camera.
- the shade of it onto the box is too monotone.
- the light and colours on it aren't the same as the rest of the photo.
- the light direction doesn't seem to be the same as that of the Hyppie.
The post looks real:
- all this stuff has been confirmed directly by WotC
- the lighting does look a bit off
- why fake it when the stuff is readily available from at least half of the 3000 Walmarts in the US?
- grasping at straws much?
- these lists look better with five lines

Hey all... I'm retired, not dead. Check out what I'm doing these days (and beg me to come back if you want):
Wow Puzzle... I in no way will feel this is fake. There's no point in it, and I'm a bit shocked that with other people seeing the stuff in the stores that someone is going to insinuate that it was fake (not that you directly stated that you felt so).
Personally, I'm going to be heading by some other Wal-Marts tomorrow if I wake up early enough before work, and if not then I'll try to swing by one after work, but honestly it makes little difference if they are really selling them early, however, I do believe they are. Just perhaps not in my area.

One of wal-mart's money saving tactics is to not have items in storage. If they got the product early, they had no choice but to put it out on the shelves.

Evil is boring. The universe is friendly. Life is on your side. Joy is your birthright. Cynicism is idiotic. Fear is a bad habit. Despair is lazy. In fact, all of creation wants you to succeed. Act as if the universe is a prodigious miracle created for your amusement and illumination. Assume that secret helpers are working behind the scenes to assist you in turning into the gorgeous masterpiece you were born to be. . . Life always gives you exactly what you need, exactly when you need it.
well, in the walmart near me (milton, ontario), we dont sell many cards at all... just yugioh and the occasional pkmn... no magic here, but then why would i buy from there anyways?
at this point, i dont really care if someone fakes something we already know exists... why go to all that trouble 2 days b4 release on some things that we've seen card images of and product images... besides, if u look at the oversized FoN card in the arcana, u can see the border sucks on it... will that be the real one? i dunno...
all i know i sthat i can't wait for 9th to come out... first core set ive been excited about in... well... ever!

Remember, kids: Never fight with Flashback, 'cause Flashback always wins.
To those that think it might be a fake: I'm flattered that you think I could shop anything. I couldn't.
To those that want more pictures: I'll try to remember to take a few more tonite. Only got one other foil, some common. It's hard to get decent pictures of the foils b/c if you use the flash, there's too much glare. If you don't, they come out looking dark.
Oh, and what sort of pictures could I take to prove that they aren't fake?
the fat pack was $30, which is prolly overpriced, but it was still cool. and yeah, they could probably get in trouble for it. funny thing is, i'm not the first to get em. There were a few of the precons gone already. Now lets see if i can get a picture in here... it may come out huge... it may not come out at all... bear with me...
Oh, and I'm in Schenectady, NY. The one I went to was in Glenville, across the river.
And also, just noticed... the dividers that come with the fat pack for the boxes all have pictures from John Avon lands, except the artifact one, which is the new Icy picture. Didnt' know if y'all new that yet, but I think it's great. Much love for Mr. Avon.
It looks really nice and the Boxes and diviers seems like a cool idea. But $30 seems a bit much for a Fat Pack but you did get a great vaule from it. I hope I get as lucky on Friday.
How big it and how heavy is it? It looks pretty big and I have to carry mine for about a half mile to get it home.

It's roughly 8"x8"x4", and not very heavy, since it's mostly empty space inside.
Ok, Last Question...
Is the Fat Pack Box (The one that whole everythingh) made of Plastic or Paper like a regular Fat Pack?
This info is really helping me out and I can't wait get a Fat Pack on Friday.
