Wow battle of wits..... lol i thought my playset was useless....... Guess ill break them out. maybe a g/u deck could be possible.
well this is going to go two ways either standard is going to be b/r decks vs non b/r decks or core is getting good hate for them and trying to douse out green......(prayt for the latter). lol
I do like that they reprinted Traumatize, it's one of my favorite cards. Battle of Wits seems interesting, maybe not a competitive deck, but someone will make something out of it.
They didn't reprint Bribery. Blue is just losing it's luster.
This is absolutely horrible, blue was already downpowered in 8th and 9th is even worse. We keep the same weak counter set and lose all instant speed card draw. Unless RAV has a good blue instant card drawer blue is raped(CBS block gave us only gifts and we're losing T4K). Plagiarize is the only instant card drawer and its rare and cost 3U and its only really decent if its used to steal a card draw spell etc.
bad cards in core set = possibility better cards in 'real' sets.
I think Wiz had said it many times before, so 'weak' blue in core is good.
Blue's been getting some good card drawers lately (Thirst, Visions, Gifts, Ideas Unbound, etc), so with I dont see what you worry about. Also what did we loose as card draw goes? Inspiration and Concentrate? These cards were pretty bad and didn't see much play, so why are you complaining? Unsummon and Curiocity? Theoretically decent cards, but how much play did they see since 8th came out? Last time I remeber Unsummon played in T2 was U/G Madness.
So, please, stop complaining over loosing stuff you never used.
Correction: "we keep the same 'weak' counter set that, along with Hinder, dominated French Regionals."
Get over it, people, Mana Leak and Rewind aren't weak, they're FAIR. That's the problem, blue mages got used with getting most of the unfair cards in the game, and now they whine because all they get is fair, playable cards.
Yes, blue is horrible in 9th, but the counter department is NOT the cause.
One of the problems is that blue lost instant speed card draw.
Which they said would happen ever since FoF got printed, and is really a right step IMO. It's easy enough to leave mana open for counters, and if no threat comes along, use the same mana to draw cards at EOT. There's no tension, no relevant play decision. Besides, card drawing is one of the most powerful mechanics in the game, and should be treated as such.
I dont get why they would reprint Battle of Wits. I mean sure it works for prismatic, but as far as I know, its banned right? also this card will confuse noobs with its errata so why wizards? wtf?
n00b: 200 cards? But I thought a deck can only have a maximum of 60....

Decks can have a MINIMUM of 60 cards...there is no max except you need to be able to sufficiently randomize it.

I guess were both coming in at two different points of view. Yes a deck can have 1million cards in it, but only in casual. On a tournament standpoint, a deck can have 40 cards MINIMUM, 60 cards MAXIMUM, and 15 sideboard cards.

No in tournaments (limited): min = 40, max = none. (constructed): min = 60, max = none

Hunh?
Limited formats require a minimum of 40 cards, with the remainder of your cards as sideboard. Constructed formats require a minimum of 60 cards, with exactly 15 cards in the board.

I guess what I meant/trying to say was the wording in the text box:banghead:
I understand what he was trying to say. He was infering that new players wouldn't understand because they're always used to putting exactly 60 cards in the deck. No more, no less (unless they play limited). Sorry for the misinterpretation.

From the magic floor rules:
Constructed decks must contain a minimum of sixty cards. There is no maximum deck size; however, you must be able to shuffle your deck with no assistance. If a player wishes to use a sideboard, it must contain exactly fifteen cards.

Not without it's ally, Haunting Echoes, in the same set.
(Also known as Xenphire)
Battle of Wits is interesting as is Clone and Traumatize but i don't see them getting much play.
