In todays Magic Arcana post, Araon Forsythe states that they will not be re-errataing older cards.
this raises a question about if RE's source or anyone else who has stated this change to occur, are correct.
RnD during Time Spiral:
Rosewater: "Color Pie, WTF is that, If I want Black to be able to wrath, counter and have green creatures then I will damnit!"
Random RnD guy: "RED AKORMA! FTW!"
Gleemax: "Rosewater has broken out of my mind control!"
RnD after 2008:
MaRo: Hmm how do we fix the problems of pricing with cards like Tarmogoyf and Thoughtsieze
Random RnD Guy: OO lets make a new RED RARITY SYMBOL!
MARO: OMGWTFBBQ! Thats a great idea, we'll call it Mythic Rarity!
Gleemax: NOT AGAIN! CELEB
Just to clarify, because I don't think Heretic379 or Redchocobo get the point across well enough...
DeathRowChris read the quote wrong (and it's Ask Wizards, not Arcana). Forsythe means that they aren't going to go back and make every creature that should be a human but isn't into a human. He didn't mean that they aren't going to change the wording on old cards to the new templating. That would result in some funky cards.
That's interesting to read. I guess Llanowar Elves could end up being an "elf shaman" from this point on, eh?
So, with the new wording on trample, the imaginary card "rancored_elf" is going to be undergoing quite a few changes with 9th, for the first time in a while. Hmm.
This also applies for reprinted creatures in expansions like RAV. If they reprint, say, Quirion Elves (to go with the multicoloured theme) they'll probably get errata.
This a quote directly from mtg.com where in a article on August 13, 2004, had a part kinda saying stuff about errata and changing things if need be....I hope this is ok to put this here and kinda helps to.....
Regarding your article "Classifying Samite Healer": I'm writing you to put forth another option for 9th edition. I voted in your poll to errata all cards in 9th that need the new race-class types. However, I feel I should be specific. Why not errata to add the Human creature type, and to update things like Savannah Lions and Nekrataal, but leave things like Raging Goblin and Elvish Piper alone. Humans are intuitively Human from the art, and Lions are obviously Cats. But to me, Elvish Piper is not obviously a Bard, and Raging Goblin is not obviously a Berserker. I am also strongly of the opinion that you should never errata cards unless they are being reprinted or don't work with a new rules change. Just my opinion, one of many I know, but I felt I should share it.

Brian,This issue is one of the tougher ones we've had to tackle recently, and we're only now figuring out exactly what we're going to do for Ninth. But I'm happy to say that we have come to a consensus about issuing errata to old cards, and that we agree with your statement. Regardless of if/how we change cards for the next Core Set, we will not be changing cards that aren't being reprinted.

We've know about the not going back and adding Human for a long time. It also means that card that said Summon Legend or Creature - Legend with out a type in it's rules text is now a Lengendary Creature. That's all.

Do you mean the one I made for you a while back?
