NOO!!! VIZZY!!! I love finding a binder with like 5 in and trading like a forest for all of them!!!! NOOOOO!!!
I know you're just being silly, but seriously, that's enough. Vizzerdrix is becoming no more or less rare. It was on the S-Series for 8th, and is on the S-Series for 9th. I don't think you read my post.
woah, sry R_E but there are going to be less Vizzerdrixes running around now that they don't come in boosters. I like getting a hunk of Vizzys on the cheap but I'll admit I despise pulling them out of packs.

Buddy, I'm telling you something. Listen: This announcement changes nothing. Vizzerdrix was on the S-Series (ie: unable to be pulled out of boosters) in 8th, and this announcement simply says that it will continue to be that way in 9th. There is NO CHANGE to Vizzerdrix availability.
See? Note the set symbol (8th) and the number (S5/7).

erm...ok moving away from the whole vizzy thing because it annoys/confuses/aggravates people, I thought the S-series in 8th was a fantastic idea and don't really care about the changes.

If they're willing to take cards out of the core set and set them aside for a Starter Pack-only set, then there's no excuse for littering the core set with retarded cards like Craw Wurm. Instead of half-assing it they just need to do away with all the newb fodder and put a small deck from each color in the Starter and continue trimming down the crap no one wants to open.
Still no Trained Orgg? I was hoping they would bring it back this time.

Every time I destroy an opponent's creature, I jump on the table, yell "Boo ya, you son of a *****!", rip the card in half, urinate on it, then forcefully shove it down my opponent's throat.
Needless to say, I don't have many players in my playgroup anymore.

Absolutely. They should just go all the way with this "S-Series" and make that the first step for new players with the Core set bridging the gap from beginners to expert-level expansions.
In fact, they should have a "beginner" level, where only simple cards and cards that won't get played much (if any) in tournaments should go... and then Core Sets could be called something like "advanced"! That would so rock.

Seconded Xen bro, very well put.
It does seem, though, that 9th is looking quite good for a core set, with Soul warden, Yawgmoth Demon and a few other lining the ranks, heck, we may be in for a couple of really great surprises from this set soon... Here's hoping for more on this!
Okay, so I don't quite get it. The starter box is a set of cards with almost two decks to get you introduced to the game, right? Do you get a playset of the 'S-Series' in a starter box? One of each? A random sample? I haven't bought a core set card since 5th Edition :embarrass:, and I started playing online exclusively around the release of 5thDawn. I have no 8th edition cards Would I have to buy multiple starter boxes to finish a playset? The collector in me frowns at this idea Anyway thanks for the info

One of each, distributed over both decks in the starter-box

But they will still be in the starter sets.
"Still" as in "no change". Still in the S-Series, just like before. Still available in the same manner and amounts.
Let's not talk about Vizzerdrix anymore.
.
yes, i was agreeing with you, i was just stating that as a lot of people seem to forget that (my "but" want aimed at you)
I didn't draft 888. If I do draft 999, I doubt this will have any effect.
