Aargh! i'd really hoped with the printing of Genju of the Spires as an arena foil that they'd finally got over making totally unplayable cards arena foils, but obviously this proves me wrong.
They chose something that fit the theme of the set, and probably wasn't a colour of a previous foil for arena / prerelease for this set. That eliminated white, black and red. I don't know what the arena foil for Champions was, or even if there was one.
But to fit the set mechanic, this is probably the best bet from green.
The fact that it's a common isn't a problem. (I would've loved foil Glitterfangs or going back a set - Frostlings, or anything that's playable in constructed) But choosing an uninteresting common creature is a problem.
As it is... I can't imagine this exciting people to go play arena.

There's no problem with them printing commons as promo, but at least print a playable common. This card doesn't seem playable in any format. As said I would rather have had Ideas Unbound or something.
Actually, this card is playable in draft or sealed, in fact very good. For a common anyway.
Every time I destroy an opponent's creature, I jump on the table, yell "Boo ya, you son of a *****!", rip the card in half, urinate on it, then forcefully shove it down my opponent's throat.
Needless to say, I don't have many players in my playgroup anymore.

But this promo will never be opened in a draft or sealed. It's a promo, something "special". It's for collections and constructed decks, neither of which will welcome it.
They could have at least pulled off something funny like print ' One with Nothing " or " Chimney Imp " or something known to be bad as an Arena Foil...
This card is neither especially bad nor memorable... It's just boring...
I was working at my local game store today when the CanPar guy came in and dropped off a few boxes. After I signed for them I noticed that they were cases of Saviors boosters and the Arena kits.
I was excited.
Then I opened it.
Then I wasn't excited.

They could have made the Hands (of Honor/of Cruelty). That would be cool.

The Arena promos have been common for as long as I can remember, so, that really has no relevance at all.
There was Glacial Ray for Champions

and Genju of the Spires for Betrayers

Nothing that I'd call amazing compared to the FNM Blastoderm, Cabal Therapy, Fact or Fiction, and so on.
As you can see, there was the Genju.

Ok this is bad. I mean the Nightwatch will never make a 60 card deck...

Now, if it were a FNM prize, that's different. Cabal Therapy is a hard act to follow.
