The point with the hatchery and this is that you can make a huge hatchery and activate it immediately - so they have to deal with the hatchery AND 10-22 snakes.
Of course, if you could burn someone with it, it would be nice. Though I get the feeling that Heartbeat of Spring > this. In limited, it's a random 2/3 snake legend without a drawback, so I guess that's something.
I don't think sweep works with this guy. There's no green sweep spell, so you have to play at least a two colour deck... and remember you can only return plains with the white sweet, etc. So you have to have 7 PLAINS on the table (not to mention any sources of green mana that you used to play this guy in the first place) before you can sweep them up, reveal them, and flip him. Even then, your land is in your hand, so you better have Azusa in play to get it back down. And even when you do, you're playing a 2 colour (or more) deck, which seriously slows down the mana production of the flipped side of the card. Yuck.
New Frontiers? Nah, that just gets them into play. Crummy.
Incredibly abusive if you ever manage to flip it. The only way i can see of doing it though is some sort of turbo land deck with sasaya, asuza, time of need, sakura tribe elder, kodamas reach, the green sweep cards if they're playable, maybe splashing for meloku and throwing in big fat like the green myojin and patron of the orochi as finishers(and maybe splashing red for XR damage spells) and then maxing out on lands something like 28 lands maybe.
It's like a coat of arms for your lands. Blows chunks in constructed, probably, and busted in casual.
This would be fun with mulch, yavimaya elder, mulch guy, sprouting vines, sunder, land tax, tithe, ect. Then scroll rack for teh win!
Also, the top would be good in a deck with all that land searching.
>.< I was serious, use this with Elder Pine of Jukai.
Whenever you play a Spirit or Arcane spell, you may reveal the top three cards of your library. Put any land cards revealed in this way into your hand, and put the remaining cards on the bottom of your libary in any order.
Play like 3-4 spirit/arcane things (possably the ones that get you lands themselves...) and your hand'll be overflowing with lands. I was thinking of a way to use all of those extra lands... and, well, this'll work. Put this an a G/R spirit/arcane deck with Elder Pine of Jukai and Fireball.
This is stupid easy to break!!! I was gonna save this for EssentialMagic.com when the spoiler comes out but I guess I can tell y'all too. This combo works best if you already have like 8-9 card in your hand, but I guess you could try it with 7:
1. Play Vedalken Orrey, March of the Machines, Mass Hysteria, and Voltaic Construct
2. Play and activate Mindslaver.
3. Donate a Jester's Mask during your oppoennt's Slaver turn. (this is where the Orrey comes in handy)
4. Get 7 cards in your hand. (still working on this...)
5. Untap the Mask with the Construct, then have opponent pop the Mask and give you an all-land hand.
6. Almost forgot, make sure you have Sasaya in play so it doesn't get shuffled back in. I forgot once and then lost to my opponent's Myr Mindservant/Timesifter combo deck.
7. Reveal 7 lands, flip, gg. (assuming that you had your Pain Kami/Ragged Veins combo out already. If you don't you can wait a couple turns to draw it.)
more casual cards....yippee......i think weve seen enough of them from the last 2 sets.
yeah, damn those casual players... god forbid it be fun, or worse yet people play on the dining room table... do they have no decency?

I'm excited, yo.
1. Play Vedalken Orrey.
2. Play and activate Mindslaver.
3. Donate a Jester's Mask during your oppoennt's Slaver turn. (this is where the Orrey comes in handy)
4. Draw two cards. (still working on this...)
5. Have opponent pop the Mask and give you an all-land hand.
6. Almost forgot, make sure you have Sasaya in play so it doesn't get shuffled back in. I forgot once and then lost to my opponent's Myr Mindservant/Timesifter combo deck.

... and, on the other hand, my 'combo' works. Seriously... that fairly requires you to have an infinate mana/card drawing combo out already. Where you joking?

The cards that exist in Standard that put cards in your hand, that are either green or artifacts:
Journey of Discovery (2)
Kodama's Reach (1, +1 in play)
Sylvan Scrying (1)
Journeyer's Kite (1)
None of these are unreasonable, and the green cards are staple mana acceleration/fixing cards in their own right. I will also note the new Spirit coming out that is great for getting lands out of your deck into your hand.
I don't see the flip condition as undoable, but it is certainly more than trivial.
If I have seven lands in hand, I'd rather have a 9/9 Nantuko Cultivator and a draw-seven. This thing is just rediculously fragile. Lets say you actually do get seven lands, they're just going to Naturalize it. Now you have a billion lands and. . . more lands. . . uh. . .
But it still begs the question...OK, you manage to flip it. You now have more land than a T&N deck can generate. Congratulations. Now that you've spent most of your deck trying to flip it, what do you do with it?
Oh, and how do you guarantee that you're going to draw it? It's an interesting idea but, IMO, it takes too much effort to abuse.

just think of it as Ankh (you know... an Ankh) More Pork, Ian. That's how I remember it :tongue2: (without the e, anyway)
That's how to remember my name. Or, you could just read the Discworld Novels by Terry Pratchett. I recommend the second method.:)

Ankh: Time of Need is a cheap in-color method of drawing Sasaya, as John points out in his article.
All I'm saying is that in a green deck that would want a lot of mana anyway, the flip condition is something that quite a few of your land-search abilities will help to fulfill anyway.
pounds? currency of England? i hope you're joking...
Y'know, that's what I like about the English. That "never give up, always hope that American isn't as big a dink as he apparently is" spirit. That, and Monty Python.
Hey maybe this is another way for Epic spells to be cast for blue and green? Once you control teh board with meloku you can cast a green/blue epic with the masses of mana and BOOM! a cooler win condition then 1/1 flyers (Then again I like flashy wins so this may not go over well with others)

I can see this having a lot of potential, in Legacy, and extended. Even in a Meloku deck, it could get farily harsh.

You're right. I forgot to add in that you needed to have March of the Machines, Mass Hysteria, and aVoltaic Construct so you can untap the Mask. Good catch. The combo should work much better now.
