Charge Across the Araba -
Instant - Arcane (U)
Sweep - Return any number of plains you control to their owner's hand. Creatures you control get +1/+1 until end of turn for each plains returned this way.
Illus. Dany Orizo
#4/165
Now THIS is more like it. This is the alpah-strike that Plow Through Reito wishes it was. :smile2:
Like Warrior's Honor, except all you have to do is return 3 or so Plains and it's better. Try 4 or 5 and it wins you the game.
Looks saucy. But at five mana, I'm not sure. Good thing sweep is not terrible against counterspells though - you return the lands as the card resolves, not as an additional cost.
oh i don't know, i definately see this as a WW finnisher.
with all the land scooping in this set, i fully expect there to be some type of card where "lands cannot be the target of spells or abilities" type thing, only worded differently of course... maybee it would be a Ravinca card though, much in the vien onf Imi Statue arriving after Mirrodin block.
Wow... It's an instant, it's arcane... it totally shreds your opponent to pieces. Great in limited and maybe even playable in constructed? My, there will be some frustated players on the wrong end of the beating stick coming prerelease.
Well thats nice overrun anyone? now if it only gave trample I see I being played in constructed maybe elves will come back in the next block with llanowar in 9th That would be sweet W/G weenies beatdown. Well see and thanks to whoever provided the info.

yes turning of the tide that was a nice, props on breaking the deck
The word 'plains' appears 4 times in the Orb, so I wouldn't be surprised if there was a Rare sweep spell that destroyed attacking creatures for each Plains you returned to hand.
could this be a way in for white control or aggro build? i've never been a fan of weenie decks, so i'm seeing this as a possibility for Pristine Angels and such...
And it's Arcane so you can go W/G for Kodama of the South Tree and it can be even more devistating than an Overrun
nice catch! while some of these new mechanics are a bit clunky, i think we could be seeing some REALLY powered up cards and combos comming out of this set. i just don't know how willing your average n00b will be to explore the prospects to the fullest until some Pro breaks it and they can netdeck it.
What we're doing here is akin to taking the text of Moby Dick, locating specific words therein, rearranging them to create a passage from Fight Club, and concluding from this evidence that Tyler Durden is based on Ahab.
This is a much better finisher than PtR, but I'm still not a big fan of sweep as a whole. If for some reason your big finish goes kaflooey, your left with no lands on the board, a very, very vulnerable situation to be in.
Charge Across the Araba is far from a bad card, it's just one I'm hesitant to play. All-or-nothing alpha strikes that (if they fail) leave you in a pitiful situation afterward aren't my thing. Though this is a good card for Limited in W/x, obviously. Though mono-white would be even better.
Great to have yet another card for the spoiler, a great find! GOGO Rancored... It's great to have you in the fold brother... Oh and I got those Toshiro's yesterday, 18 more for the collection!!!! Cheers.
well i wouldnt say its completely unplayable at 5 mana...it could still work. especially since if WW doesnt win by turn 5, this card only helps out more, since it can swing the game back into your favor (or even win) after you have slowed down, or the opponent has began to take control.
5 mana for a card thats says 'I win' is not too expensive. Sure they can stop it with creature removal, but will they have enough for all of your creatures? Probably not. Of course, splicing a Blessed Breath onto a Plow through Reika is probably much better.
As a 5cc card sitting on the peak of the mana curve, I'll rather play Stir the Pride but not Charge across the ahblahblah.
In a bounce/removal heavy enviroment, losing 1-2 attacking creture would be easy and will ruin your plan. With such sacrifice, if the game DOES NOT END as you planed, you will sit there with no lands in play, watching opps' avenge.
Why take this risk?
For W/X decks, I will far stronger suggesting Stir over Charge. You do not have a lot plains to return on turn 5 or 6. Say +3/+3, which is not greatly better than Stir. Better situation occurs only when you can attack to win this turn, ie, it's use is limited. (In other situations, it just make you fall behind from opps' mana development, or act as a dead card in your hand.)
CONSISTENCY.
p.s.
In some matchup, the spirit-link part of Stir can win you damage race by itself

seems good to me.

EDIT: Oh, I see the difference, now. This affects all creatures you control. You're right. This is better.

4 sweep cards, 2 in white, 1 in black - maybe none in green and blue and one in red? Or maybe this or plow are green, not white?
Also interestingly, araba shows up twice in the orb.

did you watch the Philly Pro Tour finals? they were dropping much bigger things than 5 mana at turn 3-4.
This card is not impressive at all.
