I dunno. You may be overestimating the speed of the format; five of the top 8 decks at PT Philly were packing maindeck Myojin. Then again, the Myojin all have a bigger immediate effect on the game than this. Maybe a G/w/u deck focused on defense and mana acceleration that's packing a set of shrines as a victory condition?
this searches for a miojin. So no, they don't really have a bigger effect than it.

Has anone considered the idea that Epic may continue outside the current block? It does not seem to have any specific aspect that ties it in with the block. It seems like a mechanix that is universal in flavor and function. I bet we will be seeing this as a staple mechanic... probably only in third sets, though, since they would probably want people to be engrossed in the story by the time any "epic" events occur. I think these are probably just bland, boring versions that are just being used as introductions. There is no end to the possibilities of what they can do in the future.

Turn 1: Lay a forest, Chrome Mox, SacMe-Tribe Elder
EoT Opponent: Sac Elder
Turn 2: Lay a plains. Now have four mana. Play a Kodama's Reach and some one mana weenie or something.
Turn 3: Play Plains or Forest. You now have six mana. Your opponent smashes face while watching you fiddle around with mana so you can play your Epic spell. Play Final Judgment and remove 'em all.
Turn 4: Play land, play Epic Spell, pull out Honden of Infinite Rage.
Turn 5: Go get Honden of Cleansing Fire. You're now dealing a whopping 2 damage a turn and gaining 2 life.
Turn 6: Go get Honden of Life's Web. You're now dealing an amazing 3 damage and gaining 3 life a turn.
Turn 7: Go get Honden of Night's Reach
Turn 8: Go get Honden of Seeing Winds, even though it won't do you anygood.
That's assuming everything goes right.
Technical point, White Honden gains you 2 life for each shrine in play. So that's 2 damage a turn and 4 lifegained a turn, and later 3 damage a turn and 6 lifegained.

This also seems to go quite well with channeling (not a spell) as well as cycleing, and it can even fetch you your astral slide but as far as anything els its pretty limeted. I think its a cool idea but i don't think it will see much play especcialy sicne ons block is out of t2. The arts cool tho :)...

Epic is really reminding me of the winds from prophecy though. The wizos promised super cool game ending effects but what we got were 5 unplayable peices of crap.
Wow herohammer you may be right. After seeing Enduring Ideal, The Epic cycle might end up as a dissapointment. Now dont me wrong everyone, the card is great and can see some use in enchantment heavy decks granting they have protection or infinite turns but seriously though I expected better from wizards. I really hope that Ideal is not entirely representative of the Epic cycle, in terms of "Search for X each turn and put it into play". That's not that exciting, really, and limits what each color's epic spell can actually do/search for.
The entire cycle can't be search for X and put it into play. The only other permanents to put into play are lands (nearly useless after Epic) and creatures, with both belong to green, and artifacts, which belong to blue. They probably wouldn't let blue search for artifacts, and red and black doesn't have a type of permanent they can characteristically put into play.
Not incluiding the channel and other new spells but i wanted to post it for you guys to make an opinion and maybe throw somethin' new. And maybe we could find toguether the weaknesses.
To be honest I like Enduring Ideal. Probably isn't something for tournaments but it look like it could be a lot of fun. Going to have to try this thing with heartbeat. There also appear to be a (relatively) high number of enchantments in saviors.
Michiko would be great against burn, especially if you put, say, Heart of Light on her, and also had Worship out. That's a soft lock right there, especially against Red, who can't deal with it at all. It gets even better if you use Vassal's Duty (either instead of, or alongside HoL). Yes, Vassal's Duty. Why not redirect that damage to yourself, and trigger Michiko?
And as for Enduring Ideals.. it seems decent with Hondens, great with something like Opalescence. Admittedly much better in extended than t2 right now.. let's see if Ravnica (hey, or even SoK) has something to break this with.
Hmm.. the Johnny in me is tingling with deck ideas.
If I can find a way(or card) to shuffle Decree of Silence back into my library before it gets 3 counters, then I'll find a use for Enduring Ideals. And no, I dont want to use those cards that remove a counter from echantments (ala Power Conduit) since I want to make another Enchantment Deck (my 1st one is a Deck called "Chimera" which is rediculously broken :xd:)

I don't really like the Epic mechanic; frankly, I'd say it's better to have "legendary" permanents and leave the spells alone. Granted though, enchantments are one of my favorite kinds of permanents so this might be abused; heck, the Myojin were abused in the Pro Tour today, even if it is block.

Finally, Michiko is nice, but overall not too impressive with the reactive ability. Ten minutes of seeing her, and the best I can see:
Michiko + Fumiko the Lowblood = Devestation
