Actually, Pulse > Toshi, since toshi states if that spell would go to the graveyard, rfg it. A spell does not go to the graveyard until AFTER resolution, by which time the pulse would be sitting nice and comfy in your hand.
It seems to me that more often than not, the ability would be used for removal of more creatures and then probably something important after all their creatures are gone, or maybe it's a good way to abuse glacial ray =P
well, this is one i am pretty sure returning pulse does work. i was originally thinking that a spell went to the graveyard BEFORE resolution, but this doesn't make sense for permanents on the stack. so, im pretty sure that pulse does indeed return now. i spose if it were to go the the grave before returning it would say something about it on the card (i.e. "Return Pulse of the Forge from your graveyard to your hand").
Uhm, you are in fact, sadly mistaken, go reread the rules.
Spells are put into the graveyard once the spell is completely done resolving. So if you're opponent has more life, the pulse comes back. The same goes for Hanabi Blast, which my friend and I decided was pretty ridiculous.

yes, i realized this before you made your post, thx for ur effort. no rereading the rules necessary... :tongue2:
thot just popped up: how does hanabi blast suddenly become ridiculous? doesnt it read "~ deals 2 damage to target creature or player. Then return ~ to owner's hand and discard a card at random"? this is an entirely different case and because it has nothing to do with graveyard placement effects it will still itself be involved in the discard (making it not broken).
well... I'll let you chaps argue about the stack while I layback and put my B/U deck together in my head... I love me some Toshi...

Brian Tinsman, Set Designer :?mana::snow::snow:
Legendary Creature – Human Designer (MR)
Brian Tinsman, Set Designer can only be cast during the third set of a block.
When Brian Tinsman, Set Designer enters the battlefield, ignore all flavor and mechanics of the first two sets in the block. "Ok so what do we have here... gothic horror? Scrap it. Expand the Devine Vs. Demonic duel deck to 244 cards and print it!"

I don't know what to make of this Pulse situation, I'm sure it will be covered in the FAQ, and I'll just think of it then.
Toshiro is a cool card, just a bit wee to make a difference. He'll probably be fun though.

Forever known, whenever said, ancient rhyme, forgotten dead.
Hanabi Blast changes zone during its resolution. Thus, if you wind up discarding the Blast to itself after recasting it via Toshiro, it will not be RFGed because it isn't considered to be the same card any more. The practical upshot of this is that with a Hanabi Blast and no other cards in your hand, whenever a creature dies you can kill as many */1 and */2 creatures as times you can pay 1RR.
right it is good with toshiro, but i thot he was referring it to a sense not involving toshiro.
The card is amazing... leave it at that with hanabi's blast and other burn cards such as sharpnel blast and others the card may only see play in Standard not in Extended for sure.
Well boys and girls, looks like we've found at least one card to try to break from this set. There has to be some way to abuse this. I just can't figure it out yet...
sorry to bring that really old post back... but i really couldnt resist to comment that, when this post was written, only 4 minutes had passed since ^ppl knew of the very existance of this card.
The card goes to the owners hand from the stack if I'm remembering this right. If I am, it never hits the graveyard, so theres nothing to replace.
Either way, bolding the word "WRONG" was unnecessary.

Just to say, you have to give it some time
