Asking people to remove quotes in their signatures is tyranny! If I can't say something just because someone's feelings are hurt then no one would ever be able to say anything! Political correctness is stupid.
It's effect is actually quite powerful. Untapping all forests allows for you to double the amount of spells you would play in one turn in a mono-green snake deck.
Woot i got this one right! Its a nice high costed, not what i am gonna put in my prerealse deck unless i already have lots of snakes card.

RnD during Time Spiral:
Rosewater: "Color Pie, WTF is that, If I want Black to be able to wrath, counter and have green creatures then I will damnit!"
Random RnD guy: "RED AKORMA! FTW!"
Gleemax: "Rosewater has broken out of my mind control!"
RnD after 2008:
MaRo: Hmm how do we fix the problems of pricing with cards like Tarmogoyf and Thoughtsieze
Random RnD Guy: OO lets make a new RED RARITY SYMBOL!
MARO: OMGWTFBBQ! Thats a great idea, we'll call it Mythic Rarity!
Gleemax: NOT AGAIN! CELEB
Let's say I have a Patron of the Orochi, untapped. If I play it's ability, does it untap itself, or tap itself first? In other words, does it end up tapped, or untapped?
I just noticed something. Every time you use his ability, he untaps himself, as well. Thus, you effectively have a massive wall that untaps everything a-la-Seedborn Muse, but that can be played as an instant for potentially little to no mana. Though he may have the same effect after everything is said and done, this guy make Reville Squad look like blank cardboard.
EDIT: so yes, Gogf, he'll untap himself.

Some wonder why I carry 8 decks on me. The answer? I get tired of being boarded against in casual games, and 90% of the players I meet can't beat a jank deck I made to be tokens for a serious one.
RTFC, its says clearly it may only be used one time.

thats a pretty powerful card in a snake deck, thats for sure.. any deck for that matter lol just throw a big snake in there to get it out earlier (possible on turn 5 perhaps?) very nice card
The Patron allows for double Tooth and Nail if it survives a turn. Useful, but not spectacular. I doubt we'll be seeing mono green Snake-Tooth decks anytime soon.
Pretty cool. But if your opponent is also playing green, they get the same advantage off of the activation.
well naturally you and your teamates would build specifically around the card to abuse its untapping boon. A card without draw backs is quite rare and usually not fun in multiplayer games
In fact, i hope they are playing green just to see what would happen :biggrin3:
Something like, emp plays an RG fires deck for the haste among other goodies, myself playing a snake deck to abuse the mana/creature gain/help emp/swing, and perhaps an elf deck just to make things extra
well... is it just me or is wizards REALLY pushing the cycles a little too much? i mean, i remember an article in which they named them all and there weren't so many. Now, there'S at least 3-4 per set. maybe they're trying to get off with 5 cards per design idea.
I just realized you can play this on turn five with no mana acceleration.
Turn four: Play sachi/sosuke.
Turn five: Sac sachi/sosuke, play Patron.
If you play sachi, and you've played any two shamans before that, you can play it on turn four:
Turn two: Orochi Sustainer.
Turn three: Orochi Leafcaller.
Turn four: Sachi. End turn (you could play it now, but it's better to surprise your oponent with a 7/7 blocker on turn four). Either suprise your oponent badly, or at the end of their turn to prevent summoning sickness, tap the sustainer and leafcaller for four mana each, and then sac sachi.
sweet art on an interesting card.
i agree that the ability begs to be broken (but thankfully you can only do it once per turn [unless it's rfg'd and has haste somehow...]).
however the high casting cost and the fact that snakes are less-that-optimum in constructed (maybe ok in block tho... i haven't really started block testing yet...) make me think this card won't see much play at all.
it might be a good choice for TnN decks tho...
Well considering that during your turn he gives you double the spell casting capacity and if you leav him untapped at the end you can do it again during each opponents turn (once per turn) still leaving you with a 7/7 meat wall i think its pretty nice all around. and as far as the cost draw back, that can be qwickend by some sneaky snake sacrificeing. Not bad at all, i wouldnet mind haveing one.

"Why do I fight?... I keep on fighting to find that answer."
also notice how nicely it interacts with Dust Drinker. you can untap a nice chunk of your lands with this baby. purhaps a nice Tooth n Nail combo, even without snakes? heck run a mono-green and throw Dust Drinker in anyway to fetch with Tooth.
This is definately a good card with a lot of potential to be really annoying if someone happens to find a good deck to put it in. Doubt It'll see much light in standard though.

It's not a post with content either. Spam warning.
Oh, and don't obfuscate swearwords. If you want to swear, go to the Gutter.

Off the top of my head: Patron of the Orochi + Forests + Orochi Leafcaller + Vedalken Mastermind + Sneak Attack + Lifelace. Sachi can accelerate this out easily, and if you have four Forests out, you're ready for a lethal Fireball/Kaervek's Torch.
the art in this is kickass. am i allowed to say that?
