Very nice card, which will go directly into my extended Burning Bridge deck. Four of these MD plus 3-4 MD sulfuric vortex = a really good matchup against life.dec, all without screwing up the mana curve or function of the deck!
Now, if it was only arcane, I'd play it in a heartbeat in my R/G spiritcraft block deck...
Ahaha..yeah, against Life.Dec should be pretty amusing for RDW...but it's such a shame that it only goes to the dome and not to creatures...hmmm...it's more <decent> burn...so as a pyro I shouldn't complain...^^
Flames of the Blood Hand - :2mana::symr:
Instant (U)
Flames of the Blood Hand deals 4 damage to target player. The damage can't be prevented. If that player would gain life this turn, that player gains no life instead.
I really don't think there's much reason to doubt this card, even at 80% likelyhood. It's a non-returning Pulse of the Forge for 2R over 1RR, which isn't like some kind of thing that's insane and unreasonable. It can't be prevented and it stops life gain for a turn. Allow me to rotate my finger and the air and say 'woooo'. I like direct damage spells, especially ones that don't suck like this (I always have to fight my inner Billy [which is my area's equivlant of a Timmy] and avoid considering filling a deck up with 'Deals damage to player' spells). I like Pulse of the Forge, I like Shrapnel Blast... I play both in Big Red and Affinity respectively (despite the fact that their presence in said decks is always an iffy issue). I'm sure this could go into some kind of block deck w/ Toshiro, rats, Yamabushi's Flame, this, and some creature kill (OMG! PULSE OF THE FORGE 2 BLOCKS IN A ROW!!1oneshift). In fact, I'm sure of it.
If it's real, which this doesn't seem like a card that would disappoint me either way, I'm going to like it.
This is reasonable as to-the-face burn on its own, but you can probably assemble a fairly nasty straight burn deck now. Some of it even has nice side effects, like Pulse o' the Forge returning if they're trying to rush you, Hammer returning if the game goes long (ha), new billy Blood Flame being unpreventable and stopping lifegain, Magma Jet letting you Scry, that sort of thing.

I am willing to bet my collection that Frozen and Solid are not on the same card. For example, Frozen Tomb and Solid Wall.
If Frozen Solid is not reprinted, you are aware that I'm quoting you in my sig for eternity?
nice card.. not exactly bad cause there's always a room for a burning spell..
weirdly wotc didn't make it arcane

It couldnt be an arcane. Bringing it back with hana kami or the unspeakable would make it rather broken. At least it stops kokusho and the black drain life variants in a way.

God this card is so nasty. It hates out white bad, is an efficient piece of burn, an answer to life.dec, and is great in Limited. Bravo to a great uncommon!
Not being able to target creatures is a huge blow against this card.
It will see sideboard play if Life is popular at the PTQs, but I can't see any Constructed deck maindecking this card ever.

This is my Jackal Pup. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My Jackal Pup is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My Jackal Pup without me is useless. Without my Jackal Pup, I am useless. I must tap my Jackal Pup true. I must tap faster than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must beat him down before he beats me down. I will.
Since you don't have exact confirmation on this R_E, any chance that this is arcane? Because it reminds me quite a bit of lava spike, except with a bunch of perks. Both of them being glacial-ray spliceable would make me a very happy sligh player.

I'm personally not really that excited. It's basically a Lava Spike with one extra damage for 2 extra mana. The ability might be handy against some decks, but this card isn't as 'ridiculous' as some of you say.
The ability isn't so great as the fact that it's an instant and you could get it back with Toshiro. In that specific case, I'd say it's on-par with Pulse of the Forge. It's not rediculous, but it is really cool if you think of its block potential.
Kind of funny how when a creature-kill spell comes out, people say "this is crap... I'd much rather be able to target players because you don't win games by hurting creatures!" For example, Strafe. That card is hated by everyone. Seriously, this is a Lightning Blast for less that doesn't target creatures, and it can't be prevented, and it stops all life gain for a turn. People won't be happy until Incinerate is reprinted.

No. It's either fake, or correct as shown. Like I said, I'm 80% sure it's the latter. Sorry!

hit it on the nose elf. i personally won't be till it is. (or a real reprint of mogg fantastic, non of this only creatures or only players BS). one of reds most well known traits is burn, its also one fo the few that never really crosses over to other colors (just a little bleed into black). and the main reason why burn is powerful is its flexability and versitility. mainly the ability to hit something on the board or the dome. make it cost 3, reduce the damage to 3 and let it hit critters and players with the other abilities, and this is a stunningly good card. but to the dome. too often a dead card in my hand. and don't start pointing at electrostatic bolt. the only reason to play it over shock, is affinity, and 1 mana for 4 damage. if this cost 2 or 1. great card. at 3. it falls way too short
however this card will earn a slot in RDW if its a viable build for type 2. i don't think it'll make it in extended, but could show up in sideboards in type 1.
Its really a neat spell. It will definitivly see some play in limited and perhaps a little in block.. I really like the card nice and cool ^^

It's a great cards versus Pulse of the feilds, though prolly not as game breaking as Pulse of the forge for an immediate threat, *Hydrokinesis swears the 'forge' ha won him many a game* I'd be a little more interested in this card if it proves to be arcane, but on the whole.. not bad Red!!!!
I'd like to hope Red has a lttle more cards of this sort of flavor in Betrayers, I wondered why wizards hadn't played around a little more with the anti life-gain angles for red/black!
I must say Cube Drafting is Fun. Since its mostly the only drafting i do.
Attack step ok, oh wait i would like to cryptic command. im sorry its too late to do that.
I dont know what everyone is talking about. This card isn't really that good. Dont compare it to Pulse of the Forge, Pulse of the Forge always comes back (If youve had a little practice and know when to mana burn) and just ends games that you had no business winning. Granted this cant be prevented or anything but it doesn't end games like pulse does. This is also strictly worse than pretty much any decent creature burn spell, simply because it cant hit creatures. So I'de say the comparison to lava spike is apt. Your paying 2 more mana for: Instant speed, 1 more damage, No lifegain/prevention clause, thats not really a good bargain but keep in mind that you lose arcane which is pretty much the only reason anyone would think of playing Spike. This card is pretty bad. Definitly not constructed playable in any sense of the word (barring the first red decks in block because there simply arent enough cards not to play this) and a low pick in limited
Now this is more like it!! A solid card in limited, a good addition to sideboards and maybe even playable in block. CoP no more. This puts Lava Axe to shame.
make it cost 3, reduce the damage to 3 and let it hit critters and players with the other abilities, and this is a stunningly good card. but to the dome. too often a dead card in my hand.
if you want take off one damage, and make it hit creatures and players, so u can have the versatility, then play with yamabushis flame. and you wont miss the other abilities (which arent all that great anyways) unless your playing against life.dec. in which case, the card as printed would be better because youll want to hit your opponent anyways.
not too bad of a card. but not worth the three mana for the extra abilities, -arcane, and +1 dmg when compared to lava spike. that being said, i may still use it if i cant come up with something else for the last couple spots in my red.
I hate to beat a dead point, but this really was printed with Extended in mind, as a Life.dec hoser. Seeing that Life is gaining as many weapons as it's losing after the rotation, something definitely has to be done to keep it in check.
A solid burn card that should be good in limited. Here's hoping it's real.

well against life.dec, this would be useless, since they'd probably response by using the en-kor abilities again and again...
(looks good against pulse of the fields though...)
other than that, looks pretty solid for an uncommon, although you can only target player...
