I kind of like the ogre marauder. Of the ogres released so far, its probably the best. It does seem like one of those creature that ill try using in a deck and then drop because its not all i thought it was, though.
Actually I think Ogre Marauder is quite playable in limited. Unblockable 3/*'s are nothing to scoff at, and if it does become blocked, you'll probably be 2-for-1'ing.
The rest is junk, yes.
"Probably junk! I don't think the high stats (+1/+1 over the common Order of the Sacred Bell) justify such a nasty drawback. Doesn't work along with haste creatures, gets messed up by opponents who have instants, will never be able to block, etc. *yawn*"
In response to what RE said about the red card. +1+1 matters in kamigawa draft. having 4 toughness means it can survive any 2/x encounters or 2/x bushidos short of some sort of combat trick. from my experience not much blocking is done by the bigger creatures and its drawback doesnt mean much except it has to attack every turn. not so bad. im not saying there isnt better stuff but im saying this card is not bad.
i think that most people here rate cards on a constructed scale and not a limited one. In limited any creatures with power 2 or more merits looking at because kamigawa is a beatdown set. IMHO at least. cia!
i agree with KPDaly16 vbmenu_register("postmenu_41808", true); on this regard. I think that the black creature is VERY strong in limited if not overpowered. 3 power for a kinda unblockable creature is VERY GOOD. it means it will AT least trade with one creature meaning card advantage..3 power is usually enough to kill another one too if it becomes blocked..2/1s are good in any format i hear.
the other two lifeloss sucks...but they will be attacking every turn hopeuflly..which means they will die trading or deal lots of damage anyways...so good deal IMO...

I know there is a lot of crap in any set - but lately I have been putting more than 50% of my Limited Pile in the «Immediately unuseable»-pile. This set is starting to really get on my nerves. It seems like they put so much thought into making great art and stories that they forgot about something unimportant like gameplay...Oh how sad this has gotten...but I still don't give up hope I guess.
Four more cards from a trustworthy source! Just filler creatures, though... sorry!
Ogre Recluse - :3mana::symr: Creature - Ogre Warrior (U) Whenever a player plays a spell, tap Ogre Recluse. 5/4
Probably junk! I don't think the high stats (+1/+1 over the common Order of the Sacred Bell) justify such a nasty drawback. Doesn't work along with haste creatures, gets messed up by opponents who have instants, will never be able to block, etc. *yawn*
Ogre Marauder - :1mana::symb::symb: Creature - Ogre Warrior (U) Whenever Ogre Marauder attacks, it can’t be blocked this turn unless defending player sacrifices a creature.
3/1
3/1 for 3 mana is pretty standard, and if you consider it unblockable, that makes it playable. But it's not truly unblockable - the opponent has a choice in the matter. And when you give the opponent a choice, the card loses it's potency. Limited playable and that's about it, IMO.
*nods off for a second* Ooops, sorry, these cards are making me tired.
Scourge of Numai - Creature - Demon Spirit (U) At the beginning of your upkeep, you lose 2 life if you don’t control an Ogre. 4/4
Wow, exciting, huh? Looks like they copied a card from Champions and changed a couple of the numbers around. *falls asleep*
*wakes up* Oh, sorry, you wanted to see the fourth card.
Takenuma Bleeder - :2mana::symb: Creature - Ogre Shaman (C) Whenever Takenuma Bleeder attacks or blocks, you lose 1 life if you don’t control a Demon. 3/3
OOOOOOOOOH! Now this is interesting! It's a 3/3 for 3, with a drawback, and - *falls asleep again*
Ogre Recluse - 5/4's don't block, and if my oponent is using is instants suring my precombat main, then they have reduced effective-ness. Frankly, I'd play this card, only in limited, because people don't have that many instants anyway. Half the time they'd be wasting a trick just to tap it.
Ogre Marauder - Excellent. This is going to go 2-for-1 early game, or its going to deal bunches of damage. I like it, again good in limited.
Scourge of Numai - Okay, so I'm dealing 4 damagfe a turn, you dealing 2? I like it. Not great, but still a solid dude.
Takenuma Bleeder - 3/3 for 3? I'll run it. Losing life is worth it, we've seen Wretched Anurid. Okay, again, only limited.
Verdict - Every single one of them is okay to solid in limited, crap in constructed.
no wows, but theyre not that bad either.. not bad for fillers

Well if we look back at darksteel (the last mid-expansion) we see total and complete jank like myr moonvessel and crazed goblins. So if this is the worst we get in the way of "junky filler" then we can consider ourselves lucky.

the red one is quite useful really...
it forces your opponent to waste their instant if you attack with it, and let's face it, not too many instants in a limited deck...
(well, uh yeah, the dampen thought deck...)
the marauder could force a 2-1 trade, besides if it's goes through, 3 damage is big enough to end the game fast (faster than crazed goblin!!!)...
and the demon - ogre, YAY, more demon and more ogre for the demon-deck!!!
(4 mana 4/4 is quite good, really, esp. if you have an ogre to go with it...)
Okay some of these are actually quite good in limited. Because if you think about it, eventually you will be only getting 1 champions pack, so how many order of the sacred bells will you actually get passed? A max of three at each table, therefore changing the stats and the names on some of these fill in your holes.
The orge recluse, well is janking a 5/4 cannot block for 4, in red. Ive seen worse, but at that spined wurm becomes good now.
The 3/1 is eh, sure its got a decent ability but at 1BB, black is deeper than that. Its annoying in the beginning, but falls to burn easily. Not to mention chump blocked by snake things, although 2 for 1. The other two become quite good in the right decks, the control a orge/demon conditions if met provide decent cards for those 8th-11th picks.

well then it would be 3 mana, target defending player sacrifice 2 creature...
seems good enough to me...
(or they take 3 damage, either way, it's good for me...)
hint : use the hundred talon kami to add 1st strike, and for a 1-2 card advantage, and the ogre would still be there to attack next turn...
Gotta love those mid range draft picks wizard throws at us. I used to hate cards like this, but I've since realized that these guys are the cogs that make limited go around.
