Hi all. Someone messaged me with some information. Apparenly a contact of his told him about the patron cycle a couple weeks ago. He didn't bother to say anything at the time because he wasn't sure it was true. Now that we know the akki, kitsune, and moonfolk patrons, he wanted to let me know what the contact said about the other two. One of the casting costs is missing, and one of the power/toughnesses is missing. He didn't want to post the info himself because he might be traced back to his contact.
Patron of the Nezumi -
Legendary Creature - Spirit (R)
Rat offering (You may play this card any time you could play an instant by sacrificing a Rat and paying the difference in mana costs between this and the sacrificed Rat. Mana cost includes color.)
When Patron of the Nezumi comes into play, target player discards his or her hand.
?/?
(The casting cost and ability are what the source gave us, the rest we knew. He doesn't know the P/T.)
Patron of the Orochi - ?:symg:
Legendary Creature - Spirit (R)
Snake offering (You may play this card any time you could play an instant by sacrificing a Snake and paying the difference in mana costs between this and the sacrificed Snake. Mana cost includes color.)
When a non-token Snake comes into play, put a 1/1 green Snake token into play.
3/4
(The casting cost remains unknown, but he filled in the ability and the P/T.)
Myself, I don't get why the green one is the smallest. The rest are 5/5 or larger. Why would the green one (from the "creature color") be the tiny guy? Also, why did this contact only know some of each card? Does he own some torn up cards and he can only see part of the info?
Anyway, I'm not adding these to the partial spoiler yet. Have a look and tell me what you think.
UPDATE! These cards are fake. For the real versions, see post 40!
I think the Patron of the Nezumi is a perfect fit for a Rat deck.
Not a fan of the Orochi Patron though. Heck, not a fan of Orochi in general. You brought up a good point about it having the smalled p/t. And how many snake token generators/pumpers before it becomes extremely stale. Too bad you can't combine the Offering mechanic with Sosuke's Summons.
The missing infomation really bothers me for some reason. and as R_E said 3/4 seems really small for a Patron. minor point: the other patrons are XCC as the casting cost (4WW, 5UU, 4RR i think) as opposed to the triple black. a vague pattern matching attempt gives something like a 4BB 5/3(4?) and a 5GG 5/7(6?). shrug. or i maybe i just don't like the rat patron.
as for too much snake stuff running around. There were a more squirrel creature token generators back in ody. so i suppose it's not that improbable that we get another.
In fact, for a Legend that's only 3/4, and sometimes makes you a 1/1 token every turn, I wouldn't pay more than :symg:. if you want it played. I guess Snake offering makes it a bit better, but still.
I would have expected the Orochi Patron to be 7/5 for 3GGG or something. Come on, even the white one's a 6/5 beatstick for 6 mana, with a MASSIVE lifegaining ability.
Oh, reanimating the black Patron isn't too shabby, right?
Good point. That's kinda scary. :spider:
I guess odd CC Patrons are more powerful, in a way. That way, you've got a change to drop a creature the turn before you play it. Untap, drop a land, and out comes the Patron. For example the black (if real) would let you said a Chittering Rats you played on turn 3, and you'd only have to pay for the Patron. If the green one's 5CC, you could play a 2CC snake on the second turn and play the green Patron for on turn 3. Still, not amazing... and you lost a creature.
That green one's definately looking to be pretty weak. Te balck one on the other hand just shows up as a better version of the Myojin of Night's Reach in single opponent games, sans the indestructability of course. Chittering Rats and them Patron of the Nezumi sounds like a fairly strong play, possibly worth a shot in Type 2. Who knows on that though, dagnab you Affinity!
Reanimation is back in action Patron of the Nezumi, Stir the Grave, and that other new reanimation spell are on the top of my list of things to get at the prerelease :D. Thanks R_E and your source!
Why does the green one remind me of Wirewood Hivemaster? Is it because everything does? Anyway, here's to hoping it's a four-drop... it's ability is relatively weak, and it's relatively small.
Though Mr Nezumi is awesome. Turn 4, drop it after they draw...
Their abilities are good, I guess. At 4BBB that patron of the nezumi, should be huge, like a 5/5. We'll find out when(?) they prewiew it this week.
As for the Orochi, yes, that is small. What were they thinking?

I dont think that the Nezumi patron is so big. He has a really good ability, thats why he is so expensive. I think he is 5/3, 4/2 or 6/3 and then he is still good.
Meh, the green one is sigh. It should be big, eh, its a GREEN Patron. The ability is just a Wirewood hivemaster, and he came into play on turn 2, much better than that green Patron...I hope it isnt true (or at least, 4cc for the green Patron )

Sometimes those with the most sin cast the first stones.
Patron of the Nezumi seems wrong to me; how broken is this guy in Reanimator? Not to mention turn 3 Chittering Rats, turn 4 Patron being just plain insane in Standard.

Oh oh. I see what you're getting at.
Turn 1
Swamp, chrome mox, putrid imp, discard patron, reanimate.
Ok, maybe not the first creature to reanimate, but still, reanimating this bugger is crazy against blue. :xd:

......WTF????....... I don't even know what kind of warning you deserve for this....
To Ric The Dratini: I think that we can sacrifice only ONE card (rat, goblin...) for an "offering" (cf. "by sacrificing A Rat and paying the difference in mana costs between THIS...").
So you need a 3cc rat into play on turn 4 to play it right away: it remains very powerful!!
The snake one seems really weak and can't be abuse easily unless its cc is low in order to make it playable in response to you playing another snake...
KingChewie: Though I didnt say it, I was meaning 1 was sacrificed, 6-2 = 4 so its 4th turn....

Patron of the Nesumi seems pretty strong, an anti control card if played correctly, strangely it doesn't have the "from your hand" drawback, making it a scary reanimation target (even a tooth target), can reanimation return someday. The patron of the orochi is weak, very weak, I was hoping for it to be huge, but what can we do, hopefully it'll cost 2GG and it won't be so bad, though there should be a snake llanowar elves so I can drop it on the 2nd turn.
A snake token wouldn't work towards paying the difference in the mana cost as a token's cc is always 0. Otherwise the Patron of the Orochi would be wicked good with Sosuke's Summons.
Also I believe the Orochi Patron is smaller because there's creatures such as Sosuke, Sachi, and Seshiro that pump all the snake tokens you could be making with it.
Im completly in love with the black one.. but the green one is quite terrible.. it would have to have a cc of like 3 to be good..

Not sure what to think of either of these. Im sure Ill see both show up in my casual play group, but neither will have any real impact in a multiplayer setting. The rat is powerful but a one time effect that makes only one opponent discard his hand isent so great when you have ten opponents. The snake is all right, but if I want to play with a green creature generator in casual,Ill stick with verdant force. For standerd, the rats effect is very powerful and abuseable, but not sure if it will make in impact.
I think that the green patron can't be too big... It's a snake after all!!
Actually, the Patrons are spirits that the races worship. They aren't snakes, rats, etc.
UPDATE!
An anonymous source saw this thread and didn't think we should have to suffer with these fakes. They dropped me some info, and here without further ado are the REAL cards.
Patron of the Nezumi -
Legendary Creature - Spirit (R)
Rat offering (You may play this card any time you could play an instant by sacrificing a Rat and paying the difference in mana costs between this and the sacrificed Rat. Mana cost includes color.) Whenever a permanent is put into an opponent’s graveyard, that player loses 1 life.
6/6
Good Lord! This is a 6/6 effectively for if you drop a Chittering Rats on turn three... which can be played as an instant AND forces opponents (not yourself) to lose life! This is a playable card, no doubt about that.
Patron of the Orochi -
Legendary Creature - Spirit (R)
Snake offering (You may play this card any time you could play an instant by sacrificing a Snake and paying the difference in mana costs between this and the sacrificed Snake. Mana cost includes color.) : Untap all forests and all green creatures. Play this ability only once each turn.
7/7
Yikes! Another playable card! Imagine having an extra copy of Sosuke or something, so on turn 5 you play your 7/7 as an instant when they attack. Kill the attacker with your Patron, untap, and now you can double your mana at will! Plus, he untaps himself with the ability, so you can also swing for 7. Zoinks! :yikes:
Patron of the Orochi - :6mana::symg::symg:
Legendary Creature - Spirit (R)
Snake offering (You may play this card any time you could play an instant by sacrificing a Snake and paying the difference in mana costs between this and the sacrificed Snake. Mana cost includes color.) :symtap:: Untap all forests and all green creatures. Play this ability only once each turn.
7/7
My golly, that might actually fit into a tournament deck.

EDIT: IMO, the only good one in the whole cycle is the black one, and only for reanimation.
