OMG we have a Kittybread(tm) smilie now???? W00000T!!!
... okay sorry where was I. Hey that one's cool too! Anyway, enough distractions. Someone asked me to post this information without naming who they were. I've never dealt with him in the past, but I used some other independant info I had as collateral, and I can tell you that it's real.
It's an "enchant land" or maybe "enchant forest" for one green mana, which returns to hand if it goes to the graveyard from play, and enchanted land is a 4/4 creature (maybe with trample) if you pay two colorless.
I think this matches up with the red version we got from InQuest, which turned the land into a 6/1.
Seems like a very nasty and powerful set of uncommons! Wonder what the white, black, and blue ones are like?
Thanks!
R_E, can you confirm the winter orb spirit in another thread plesae?
Quote from sneakyhomunculus »
By the way, didn't already had a blue variant that made 3/2 Flyers? I read about it in the Inquest thread somewhere.
Anyway cool card, I think it also has Trample.
:kittybread::kittybread::kittybread::kittybread:
so what would black/white one to be?
3/2 fear and 2/3 first strike?

Is it possible that this is another "cycle" from Urza block, slightly modified? You know, Forbidding Watchtower, Faerie Conclave, Ghitu Encampment, Treetop Village and....and....I cannot recall the last one

Those cards are directly from Scrye Magazine, void. I haven't heard about them anywhere else, but why would I need to? Scrye can be trusted (for this, anyway... hehe)
Thanks for formatting the cards properly, Orange Mage.
I'm thinking the green Genju having trample would be a little overpowered. That's an attacking 4/4 trampler on turn 2 with a little help from BOP.
My guesses for the rest of them...
Genju of the Wastes?
Enchant Swamp (u)
2: Enchanted Swamp becomes a 3/2 black rat creature with fear until end of turn. It's still a land.
Whenever enchanted Swamp is put into a graveyard, you may return Genju of the Wastes from your graveyard to your hand.
Genju of the Keep?
Enchant Plains (u)
2: Enchanted Plains becomes a 3/3 samurai creature with first strike until end of turn. It's still a land.
Whenever enchanted Plains is put into a graveyard, you may return Genju of the Keep from your graveyard to your hand.
My god. Maybe it's just me, but this cycle looks very overpowered.
1) You've got mana-saving. Essentially, these all cost 4 mana. one to cast, two to activate, and one lost mana b/c of attacking with the land. However, the first mana can be spent early, saving mana later, Seal-style. Good tactical advantage.
2) They return to hand. So not only do they beat well early game, but late game you can use your extra mana to, say, kill a creature each turn. Land for Creature trade seems very good to me.
3) They're pretty beastly to begin with. I mean, Arrogant Wurm? Ball Lightning? These are the cards to compare to, and they aren't slouches. (Plus, their casting cost is similar to what we've got here).
Either they're way better on paper than in play, or we've got a verifiable set of powerhouses on our hands.

no, not samurai/rat ^^
it's seems that all five enchantments trans ur lands into "spirit"(the red one confirmed turn into "spirit* not akki) and animate a swamp -> a rat is not that flavorful
(To Jedit: Thanks for ur warning. I'll beware in future.)
Third turn attacking 4/4. That is crazy. Although the enchantment ties up your mana it seems incredibly strong. For limited this is insane. Then again it is really weak to bounce and enchantment destruction, but still third turn 4/4 is nuts.
lol havent you played affinety? there you could 2 attacking 4/4 on third turn alongside much more. if a collorless deck could have that why shouldnt a green enchantment at least be able to attack whit a 4/4. and no it isnt crazy it isnt even broken(whit reservation for limited). remember that bounce kills the enchantment and returns a land to your hand.:(
I'm talking about Kamigawa here not some broken deck of goodness that is unfair to compare to anything in Kamigawa. Plus I'm thinking from a more limited perspective. Going to be ugly if you draft this card I tells ya. (Probabily ugly to draft most of them)
IIRC, "Genju" was Japanese name for summons in Final Fantasy series... So these are quite flavorful - you awaken the Kami of land to do your bidding...
Cool, and seems balaced when compared to Living Terrain. Definitely strong and.... i'll play w/ it (more so than probably the other ones, although we still have to see 2 ¿3? of them)
I'd really like to see this guy with trample. Granted, a 4/4 swinging on turn 3 is pretty nice, but it's also pretty useless without trample since they'd probably have a chump blocker out. Look at the Cloudscraper - 13/13 critters that trip over squirrels aren't cool!
Treetop Village was a 3/3 trampler for 1G - hopefully they don't think that the loss of the colored mana symbol and existence as a recurring enchantment with limited targetting warrants the loss of the trample and a +1/+1 compensation.
Also, someone mentioned using temporary means to cast these Genju on an off-type land. I don't think that would work since the land would revert back at the end of turn, causing the enchantment to slide off (states that it can only enchant X basic land). If it slides off, it won't return to your hand because the return only triggers if the land goes to the yard.
Heheheh... I am really loving this set. These enchantments look very sweet. I like the fact that, with sufficient mana, they're a surprise attacker (assuming that you put it on a land you didn't put into play this turn)...
My Enchantress deck is going to love these guys... :evil2:
My bet is on the enchantment having Vigilance, and probably has Fear. :slant:
Red is a 6/1
Blue is a 3/2 flyer
Green is a 4/4 Trample?
White would be either Vigilance or First strike (2/5 first strike maybe?)
Black would be either fear or regenerate (probably a 4/1 fear or a 5/2 regenerate)

These are very cool, a nice thing to drop on your first turn, then play what you like, and finally whenever you got the extra mana you've got a land-creature thingy to swing with. Woot!
It was in the Inquest cards I beleive. They don't have a scan of it but as far as I know the article shows the Red Genju and then says its a cycle, and the blue one in the cycle becomes a 3/2 flyer.

Yeah, I would rather want a 4/4 Trampler than a 6/1. But thats just me.
Too slow for Constructed, but I see a fun deck in the future.

The Genjus are crazy, the green one will be in Stompy, the red one will be in some kind of crazy T2 sligh.
