Day 12 of MTGTrading
Price accuracy requires patience and proof
We ran our first full price update on the card database
The process took over 5 hours and 30 minutes to refresh market values for all 40000 plus cards in real time
We spot checked by selecting a random card and confirmed its price reflected current market data with no discrepancies
All updated prices are now live in the phpMyAdmin database and linked to user portfolios
Because an asset tracker is only as good as its latest price and ours just got real
Day 13 of MTGTrading
Price history is the backbone of real asset tracking
We configured the database to store historical price variations for every card and began building the price charting feature that will visualize value trends over time
We also finalized all settings for the add to portfolio function including purchase price date currency and card variant selection
Charts are not yet rendered in the UI
Because knowing what your card is worth today is useful knowing how its value moves over time is power
Day 14 of MTGTrading
A portfolio must reflect reality not just ownership
We added a Sell button in the portfolio view so users can remove cards theyve sold and log the exit
We also configured the home screen to display the most valuable cards from our database right at launch giving immediate context to market highs
Sell actions are recorded locally but not yet synced to transaction history
Because true asset management means tracking both entry and exit with equal precision
Day 15 of MTGTrading
We launched our official website at https://mtgtrading.app
It explains who we are what we are building and who this is for players and collectors who treat Magic cards as real financial assets and want to track manage and grow their investments intelligently
The site is live but portfolio data and app login are not yet integrated
Because serious investing starts with clear intent and we just made ours public
Day 16 of MTGTrading
Today we made the app feel a little more alive.
We added this quiet rain of cards drifting down in the background. Nothing flashy, just a soft nod to the magic of opening packs and watching your collection grow. Then we wired up the price charts so when you tap any card in your portfolio, you can finally see how its value’s moved over time.
The charts work, but they still need a bit of polish to look sharp on every screen.
Honestly, there’s something satisfying about seeing a card you bought months ago climb in value, and now you’ll actually get to watch it happen.
Day 18 of MTGTrading
Today we gave our website a voice that actually talks to you
We polished everything up so it’s clear what MTGTrading is for whether you’ve been slinging spells since Revised or you just started wondering why your old cards are showing up on eBay for hundreds. The site now explains how the app helps you track your collection like a real portfolio not just a binder under your bed
You can already drop your email to get a heads up the second we launch on Android and iPhone
Because your cards have value and you deserve to know exactly what that is no matter how long you’ve been playing
Day 19 of MTGTrading
Today we kept making the little things better because they add up to something real
We spent the day fine tuning the app interface especially the screen that shows up when you tap a card Made sure every detail like set name foil status purchase price and price history feels clear calm and useful
We also kept improving the website so whether you’ve been playing Magic for twenty years or just found a stack of cards in your closet you can instantly get why this app matters
Because your collection isn’t just cardboard It’s something you’ve built and it deserves to be seen that way
Day 20 of MTGTrading
Today we started talking, not just typing.
We launched a YouTube Shorts channel to share quick fun videos about how Magic cards can actually make you money, no jargon no hype just real examples and simple tips for players and collectors who want to get smarter about their collection.
Because learning shouldn’t feel like homework.
And if you’re already scrolling Shorts you might as well pick up something useful while you’re at it.
We’re trying something new short visual clips that show exactly what we’re building in the app no filters no fluff just real progress as it happens, we want to meet you where you already are whether that’s scrolling TikTok watching Shorts or checking our site.
Because if you’re curious about treating your Magic cards like real assets you should see the work behind it.
Not just hear about it but actually watch it come together day by day.
Day 22 of MTGTrading
We’re back after two weeks on pause exams and life happened but the mission didn’t change
Today we held a Discord call to reset our marketing approach
We agreed on three things raise content quality post consistently and speak directly to the collector’s mindset trust pride and the quiet confidence that comes from knowing your cards have real value
We also created a lifelike app preview using promogen.app so you can finally see MTGTrading on your screen exactly as it’s meant to be
Because coming back isn’t just about building again
It’s about building with purpose and showing it
Day 23 of MTGTrading
Back in the code and deeper into the details
We resumed active development today refining the search interface so it clearly separates regular cards from foil ones because that shimmer changes everything
We also ran a full price update across the database so every card reflects the latest market data as of this week
Foil pricing still needs its own dedicated field but the foundation is there
Because tracking your collection only matters if it sees every card exactly as the market does
Day 24 of MTGTrading
Real time prices Real time insight
We coded the card detail screen to fetch live pricing from the API every time you open a card no more stale data
Then we added a percentage indicator that compares that live price to what you originally paid so you instantly see your unrealized gain or loss
It’s not just what’s it worth anymore
It’s how much have you made or lost since you bought it
Because knowing your position in real time is what turns collectors into confident investors

We now have the first working version of the portfolio — cards load, prices update, and everything runs smoother than expected.
Still a long road ahead, but progress feels good.
