I'm looking for inventory software, I'd prefer to get it for free or buy it. I could make it in MS Access but, i'm sure someone else has already done this somewhere a long the lines and I'd rather not waste my time. Essentially the software I'm looking for would have a list of every card and have fields for the condition of the card (ie. 1x NM 3x Good, 7x HP, etc). Added bonuses would be pictures and market value but those are not essential.
I was using MtG Studio until about July of last year. I then wrote my own invetory application since I'm a software engineer. I use SQL Server for my database. I have card images, qty, price. I keep adding features.
I can filter all cards, filter my collection, create a buylist, build decks, import prebuilt decks(Duel Decks etc.), enter foreign cards.
It's not a fancy or glamorous as MtG Studio, but it is tailored to my wants and needs, especially my filtering. It is very dynamic.

How do you handle new sets? Also did you pull your starting DB from somewhere? I was looking for an MS Access DB template for such a thing but after searching for a while I gave up.
I use Gatherer Extractor.
It downloads this information and I save it as csv file.
Within my application I have an import opinion which reads this csv file and also the directory where the images are loaded.
It then imports this information into a temporary table in SQL Server.
I then import this data into multiple tables normalizing the data.
So the first time I ran my application I had to run Gatherer Extractor for basically all the sets. I then imported this into my database.
So I then can load these cards into a listview. I also only load certain sets based on which ones I want. This is customizable so I can add an remove sets. Since I have no Alph, Beta, etc.. cards I choose to exclude these sets in my load.
Now if I'm searching for a card though and it's not in my default sets. I won't find it. So if I search for name like 'Mox' it would return Chrome Mox, but not Mox Jet, Mox Ruby, etc...

Deckedbuilder does a great job with it's UI and presenting data conveniently on a dashboard - but you'd need much more back-end functionality to truly manage your inventory. Here are a couple free or affordable options:
1. Excel - If you have an advanced knowledge of excel you can squeeze a lot of inventory functionality out of it. But you won't be able to handle multiple-locations or any bar-coding.
Gonna have to say Magic Assistant. Keeps track of everything in whatever collections and deck breakdown you want, can check prices from various sources, easy to use. I tried The Vault, which someone else posted, it doesn't save properly some of the time which is unfortunate.
What software fits my needs?

Thanks! I looked into this, and it was almost perfect, only problem is you can't have multiple conditions of cards

2. Inventory software - these can be quite expensive, but it often makes sense to invest in software that has all the functionality you need. I've heard great things about Fishbowl Inventory and QuickBooks Premier Manufacturing & Wholesale
Best of luck in your search!
