If it shows 0/0, it means the loading of the collection is partial, because it encountered an error. but for performance reason, no tests are done (compilation option) and no error is thrown to the user.
For your information, when a collection is loaded:
First it populates the comprehensive data grid view
then it populates the scan view and sections are created in this process (sections cards are created, and section lines are added in the data grid view)
Finally it updates the statistics and counts cards.
I think you have the complete data grid view (grid view) but partial scan view, and not updated statistics (I mean mini-stats counting cards).
Accordingly, your problem is not creating collections or saving them. The last collection you sent me was not corrupted at all. The problem occur when you open them and rebuild the sections (correlated with the first sorter selected). Hence the problem is linked with the section building.
As I can load it without problems on my brand install, you should be able to do the same on a brand install. What you can try is reinstall the software in another folder and retry loading the collection. Please make sure before that you have no sorter selected. If you have issues, we definitely need to find why. There is a bug in one subroutine and It must not be left unfixed. You are probably not the only one to encounter the problem. It's from your help that the software will be more stable in further versions.

I definitely need your help.
The weird thing is this - I do a brand new install (just re-installed it on this machine) and when I open the app, there's no sorters present. 1, 2, 3, 4 all show "none". When I open my collection, it shows sorter 1 as "Color" and sorter 2 as "Alphabetical". I don't know why/how, but those settings are being stored somewhere. It makes sense that maybe they're the cause of the problem, but I'm unsure how else I can help. I double checked and the Settings folder is empty - no config files present. For testing, I uninstalled and reinstalled the Web Components and that did nothing to help. I can start a brand new virtual machine and get the problem, and get you access to it if you'd like to directly troubleshoot the issue? I can open it up so you can RDP to it, though we'd have to discuss those details over private message. Let me know.
No informations about sorters are saved in the collection files. This is absolutely not normal that your sorters are changing while loading a collection. The problem is there, because changing the sorterat that moment may consequently raise an error (probably because the collection is not fully loaded...)
I need to find why this happens. Let us talk with private message about virtual machine and stuff. I will post here about the solution, when we get it.
I sent you a private message with details on accessing a server I setup for you. Also, one thing I noticed... when I first install the program, sorters may in fact all be set to "none". But when I open the collection it seems that they get set to "color" and "alphabetical". If I close the collection, set both to "none", then re-open the collection, they STAY set to "none" (but the collection is still not loading fully). On the server I setup for you, I did a brand new install of everything (operating system down to The Vault). When I opened The Vault, I left it in the half-screen mode, then opened the collection, and saw the sorters were set to Color and Alphabetical. Now that I've set them to "none", they seem to always be on "none", unless I go back and change them.
The one feature that I haven't seen any app like this do is to allow collection import from the TCGPlayer collection tracker. I'd give you a nice donation if you would add a feature that could parse and import a collection from a public URL as shown below.
From looking at it, the main reason you don't see any apps able to import from TCGP is that TCGP doesn't make it friendly, at all, to do so. They're running completely on ASPX, so no easy way to parse data in the middle. About the best that could be possible would be to pull the resultant HTML and extract info from that. That'd be pretty difficult to manage
@ Selta : I think I found the bug. It is correlated with a mistake in the GamePack installer. Please check if a brand new install is ok for you . I tested on your server and it seems to be ok.
@ Morkelin & Selta : Parsing HTML is boring, but it is exactly what Gatherer Extractor does! I will see if I can find time to implement it for The Vault.
A few things that were never really resolved before, and who knows, might be related to the issues other folks are having though I doubt it.
Still have two 'Settings' folders, one mostly empty, the other full of setting files that I have to manually update in a text editor in order for the settings to save properly.
There is no OK button in the Options Menu
OK Button at splash screen (where you choose what game) appears buggy. One time it is black and empty, second time loading recently it has a few lines of blue running along the bottom and the rest is white. Dunno what is going on there.
Running WinXP service pack 3.
Save/load of decks appears to be working properly.
Still cannot change settings inside of The Vault and have them stick.
Any suggestions about how I can diagnose the issue or help you figure it out are appreciated.
For the love of all that is holy in this world, can you please make the set list in the filter window alphabetized? It's a real pain hunting down specific sets at the moment. Much appreciated. ^^
You have two settings folders, which is totally normal: one is devoted to store settings related to the overall behaviour of the software; the other is located in 'selected_game"/data/ and contains all the settings related to the selected game, ie folder path for related pictures, decks etc...
May you post a screen capture of your option window? You should have a Ok button zt the bottom... Pleasr do not edit cfg files, because you are not supposed to do it (the vault does it for you) and you can corrupt the software stability, in case of mistake.
Concerning your last remark, sets are sorted given their release date from the newest to the oldest. I can make this sorting customable: sort by name, set code or release date, show promotionals only etc.
On last question: are you using the vault on a windows xp server? It may entail bugs in display (like the ok/start button)
Chaudakh - I will do a fresh install either later today or tomorrow. I'm assuming I need to download a new Gamepack installer, correct? I will let you know my results then. Thank you for taking a look at this!
Edit:
I went ahead and re-downloaded The Vault and Gamepack installers. I did an uninstall on my laptop, then manually removed the \Program Files (x86)\The Vault folder. After that, reinstalled and yes! It seems work OK now. Both collections are opening as normal now.
One question - any plans to do an import from MTG Studio?

Included below. I normally wouldn't modify files manually but it was the only way to make it work, as I never had an OK button and thus could never save the settings.

Sorting by name, set code, release date, and set type would be the most useful I think (i.e. by block, promotional, special releases like planes or schemes). Looking forward to that update. =)
I am not set up as a server and never have been. Thanks again for taking the time and sorry for the late reply, been out of town a bit.
The text on mine seems all out of wack. The text seems to be overlapping and the text boxes not expanding with the window. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Well for some reason when I installed Comodo Firewall/Internet Security and allowed The Vault access it started giving me the OK button. Very strange. Though I'm not entirely certain how/why Comodo is taking over many functions, I'm pleased with that result at least.
New issue however. When I tried to load a deck it gave me an exception error as follows:
System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Owc11, Version=11.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
File name: 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Owc11, Version=11.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c'
I uninstalled MS office recently. Does The Vault really require such a file and if so I suggest you find a way around it due to many users avoiding MS like the plague.
@ Norder : I am glad to hear that the "missing OK button" issue is now over... About OWC11, you need Office Web Components 11 to be installed on your computer. Charts are handled with this COM. Please visit www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=17718
@ lothar_wolf : You just need to overwrite files in the installation folder, where you previously installed The Vault. No uninstall is required.
Hello,
Thank you for sharing this software with us (again).
I am experiencing an issue when I attempt to look at my deck's mana curve in vault .5b. It freezes and stops responding. Is there a fix for this? What other information would you need for assistance with this issue please?

I don't see a use of making a deck from the card data base if I don't actually own the card.
Very nice program though. Thank you for all the work.
Mike.

What language do you use for the interface ?
I am using English as my language, but I can change it to French if that will solve the issue.
